My former church pastor, a white man from the US, was invited by Pastor Adeboye, the general overseer. He said the entourage from the airport was incredible, and in traffic, the patrol cars were blaring their sirens. He felt like a dignitary and couldn’t get over it, as he usually drives himself in the USA.
What shocked him the most was when he visited Adeboye’s house. He was stunned to see that his mansion was surrounded by poverty-stricken areas and people. He was so disturbed by this that he told them outright when they wanted him to come again, that he didn’t want to have anything to do with them again.

My sister, I love what you are doing, and I can relate to you too. I lost my dad at the age of six, he had stroke but would have survived, he was kept in the house for three because the church we were attending at the time wouldn't allow members to go to hospital. My dad died on the third day and my family went through hell on earth. We were all born in London before we moved back to Nigeria, we are kids taken to school in our dad's car before he died. But afterwards, my mum began to struggle, we started hawking on the street of ibadan, this was in the 80s when Nigerian economy wasn't that bad. It got to a point where there was nothing to sell, we would go weeks without food. Kids would laugh at me on my way to school because I was so skinny. The church members didn't notice us. In fact, most of our stuff were bought by the church members, our house became a bazaar. I have learnt my lessons about Christianity and religion in general. There is a God up there, but He is not religious. No wonder Jesus wouldn't go into the synagogue of those days, and he called the ministers in the synagogue vipers and children of Satan. What happened in Jesus's time is what we are experiencing right now in the church. God bless you sis.

Hmmmm...I went through similar experience, after my husband went to rest, everyone deserted, I went to see the bishop of my church to help me fix my daughter back to school, because my daughter was kicked out of the church University, told him am a widow, and I already foolishly sowed almost all the entitlement given to me to church..but to my amazement, he said he can't change church policy because of my daughter. I went back home disappointed😭 I was, at a point wanted to commit suicide.... it's a long story🥺 but I thank the unfailing God, who send helpers...all my kids are University graduates today, doing well.
Thank you momma for creating this awareness for those who will listen 🤷

You know all these brainwashed teachings that you should show all you have and you will reap plenty.... turning God to MMM, and stupidly I did too.... hmmmm it was a painful experience, but I thank God 🙏🙌 He's so merciful, kind and gracious, Psalms 103 says God didn't do to me according to my foolishness, if not, my children would have been drop outs of school. I have never seen why a widow should be mocked and deserted, even unbelievers won't do that, but it happened among believers oh🤷

I lost my husband in a plane crash in 2006 October. I left Anglican church for a pentecostal church in Abuja. I labboured in the church. There was a stream for helping young people people but it turned out that they were helping only their own children. Any time I asked questions the pastors will tell me that I was not praying enough.
In of what I experienced I will never stop praying to God because Jesus Christ said we should pray without ceasing. I have stopped hoping on man. I gathered all my energy on God and He has been there for us Amen. My advice is people should focus on GOD ONLY.

Aunty Adunni, I feel your pain and I relate with your condition. God has helped you so far and has given you strength together with your children. From all you have said so far, I can say categorically that your husband was a gallant soldier.
Please do NOT throw away the baby together with the bath water. Kindly not let the Church leaders' behaviour make you change your mind about God. You could change your place of worship and follow the bible for yourself

Jesus Christ didn’t die for you so you can love your church. This is the wrong teaching from religion. Jesus says love God and your neighbour. I’m not saying you should change your thinking, I’m just saying what Jesus taught vs what religion teaches. Not the same but make your choice.

Dearest sister I enjoyed your candid exposition about dysfunction and manipulation in church. I lost my husband at the age of 35 and as a widow and single mother of two, I too suffered with church stuff paying so much for tithe and seed etc. Looking back I know the money stuff in church is more of manipulation than anything. Giving of tithe does not make God love us more because He loves us unconditionally. His grace is sufficient and He is inside of us guiding and directing us as we are open to His voice. Making you to pay money that you did not borrow is the height of wickedness

You'll just be equipping unbelievers to further bastardize the name of Jesus. There's reward in that also from the Lord..... When we choose to spread our dirty linen in the public glare. So let's be guided. Most of these churches have made it abundantly clear already that giving back or charity work is not really their calling. Leke Adeboye made it sooooo clear.
So why do you want to go that route. Let every man and woman know his or her God. God is real and prayer is the way to reach Him. Moreover prayer is more than mere wishes. So let's be clear on some of these ideology madam Adunni is spreading.
We obviously need the wake up call. But nullifying the existence of God by cancelling prayer altogether is not the way to liberate people. The true seekers of God will find Him and He'll find them too. While seekers of miracles will also be rewarded. After all Jesus Himself said narrow is way that lead to eternal life and only few are on that road but wide is the road that leads to destruction and multitudes are there. So let everyone choose.

@@lolaadedokun8104 May God give us wisdom, regardless of our experiences, Jesus is our standard. Sharing bad experiences in so-called churches are to expose the unfruitful works of darkness with the intention to prevent others from falling into falsehood under the disguise of Christianity. (See Ephesians 5:11-14). The truth is that we each will give an account to God. So even if certain Christians fall, we have no excuse to reject Christianity. We should use those experiences to sit up and understand that we're in a spiritual warfare and we're to watch and pray so the enemy doesn't take over our final destination. By the way, there are still good Christians and good churches, but they are VERY RARE. Thanks.

I left the charismatic Church when the pastor started preaching about willing your properties to the church. Can you imagine that? All their children are schooling abroad. Mine is schooling in Africa. Hmmmmm. I am.back to my Presbyterian. When my mum.passed the whole women fellowship of the Presbyterian Church were at the church before I arrived with the body. The support was massive.
When I was in the charismatic church, my dad passed and there was not any support, financially I gave so so much to them, yet in my moment of need, they neglected me. The orthodox churches will have their members back little by little.

@@realtalkAuntyAdunnieven when I was still enslaved in the system, I still questioned why I have to scream before God will answer my prayers because I believe I'm a child of God and I see my relationship with Him as that of I and my children, they don't have to shout before I provide for them, they don't even need to say anything, I owe them that responsibility but if for any reason they have to ask anything, they don't shout or keep talking for hours before I can hear them and I ask myself, if I as a creature of God can relate this way with my kids, how much more God who is the embodiment of Goodness, so I decided that I'll relate with God the way my kids relates with me. Listening to you and a couple of others who are also spreading the truth consolidates that idea the more, even the bible tells us that God is everywhere and even knows the thoughts and the intentions of our heart so why do I have to scream for Him to hear me or answer me. Your story has inspired and encouraged some people to come out and tell their own stories too and more will still come out. More importantly, some who are not yet victims are learning from the stories to so they don't become victims but unfortunately, there are still many who seem to have been hypnotized but I wish their eyes will open to these truths. Well done dear. It is well.

God bless you sis. My Aunty attends St Anne’s Anglican Church in Ibadan but once in a while visits her local Rccg for vigils, prayers etc! The Rccg pastor died in an accident in public transport visiting kaduna on a church programme and The Rccg was Small and not financially buoyant and members could barely afford to arrange mortuary and bring the body back to Ibadan for burial. It was residents near the church ( who weren’t even members ) that were helping out financially! …It’s a shame you were told to find another parish ( I know pastor Eskor,s widow still attends city of David where pastor iluyomade pastors) , but All these big churches are cults only enriching their GO,s pockets.

Prayers are powerful and they work tremendously.
    James 5:16 (KJV)
… The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
I won’t say much much because I am young but I have my own story. My grief is not more than yours and I sympathize with you. I will just say that if someone has substituted God for a man, it is called idolatry. Prayer from such a person is like noise in the ears of the Lord. We can’t expect a miracle if we are walking in disobedience but that is the thing, many Nigerian pastors hate to teach holiness because it would mean they would have to change.
I hope you find the strength to pray. God has so much more He wants to reveal and do in your life Prophetess.

    Hello Aunty Mi, Adunni
I hardly comment on posts, but I had to for this one.
I understand, to an extent, how disappointing it must have been for you because my immediate younger brother, Seyi, passed away in 2013 at 25years. He lived his life for RCCG as a worker there for almost 8 years till he died.
We barely used to see him at home because of church engagements.
His church worker people 'disappeared' after his burial. Not that they even came a lot in the period between his passing and his funeral.
I was so, so disappointed and I'm sure my mum too was, but we didn't say anything. Mum has also now gone to be with the Lord (2017).
I just put my hope and trust in God, the friend that sticks closer than a brother, the one that never leaves us nor forsakes us.
And what you said is true: oku olomo kii n sun.
May God continue to strengthen you and your children. It is well with you all.

Dear Auntie. Thank you for sharing Ma. We are learning. Like I said I was and am still deeply touched. God alone understands it all.
Jesus loves you and your children. Please reconnect with Jesus the Christ. Jesus is the way, the truth and life. He died to save us from our sins. His shed blood will not be in vain on you and your children in Jesus name. Man disappoints but Jesus is not a disappointment. Bible is the very powerful word of God. I am talking from experience. God bless you with His peace, joy and love in Jesus name. God will continue to prosper you and your children and make way for them in life. (It is okay if you block me if you are offended with my comment, hope you do not get offended because that is not my purpose). But please know that Jesus is real and He is love. Bible teaches us to love and be empathetic especially with those going through trials of life. Bible promotes caring for the poor and needy. On behalf of those who hurt you I apologise Ma. I pray you forgive them. I pray those listening to you will not lose faith in Christ Jesus. I shout loud that Jesus is real, He is God, He is love and He does not fail. I have experienced Him and if not for Jesus Christ, my life will not be as good as it is. I am talking about Jesus Christ Savior and LORD, not a church. God bless. Please receive my hug. I am praying for you. And I love you with love of Jesus. Peace. I wish to meet you personally. It will happen if God wills. Love.

I know Him since 1986 and my life was undone. I was in bondage till then but He set me free. My life was a mess. I was transformed by the power of His Spirit. No one can tell me He is not real or sell Him to me. He is love. He is peace. He is joy. He is everything a man need to enjoy life and make heaven. True enjoyment is in Jesus. I am really sorry for your experience ma. Honestly, there is so many things we are doing in the Nigeria Church that Jesus is not happy wit. They are not even in the scripture. This is why I believe everyone must read the scriptures for themselves. God is not against the use of medication. God has 4 ways of taking care of our health . Divine health (When you dont fall sick), Healing (When God heals), Medication (we saw this with Hezekiah) and death. May the Lord comfort you and your children. I believe God will comfort you and your children in Jesus name. Please note that God still has 7,000 prophets. God bless you ma. Let's know how we can support you. May the Lord heal you.

    Madam, God bless your intuition.
I want to let you know it's not really about the church of God. We are the church.
The problem I see here is the people who are called church (we). Many christians are worshipping their pastors rather than their maker God.
When a Christian is gullible he/she would fall for any religious doctrine. They become slaves to their own soul, the human will is overridden and controlled by their spiritual heads and leaders.
God has given us all a will, there is God's will which is spiritual which is revealed to you by confirmation in your spirit. This will agree with your spiritual being. You have a will, desire and aspirations which you also work and pray to achieve.
When you listen to a pastor's message,' motivational speech or sweet talk' you should use you brain to sieve it.
