No, there were no instruments. What you hear came out of their voices. This group sings a lot of different genres, not just country. The two guys you pointed out even did a opera tune (Nesum Dorma) that would blow you away. The beatboxers has won several beatboxing championships and there's a video of him doing a solo. Just search for "Adam Rupp Drum Solo." They do serious songs and very funny ones. You will have fun fall down this hole.

Actually that is just a rumor. Adam Rupp has never entered a national beatboxing contest. He has been recognized by other beatboxers for his exceptional abitities.
He just never had time or the inclination to ever compete that way.

If you play it...they (us home fries) will come!
Home Free is an exceptionally talented (and popular) a cappella group.
They have a huge catalog with well over 150 videos/songs ( both originals and covers). You wont find a bad one.
They not only cross genres, they blend them.

    • @Keeba7790
      @Keeba7790 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They have not received air time because stations don't wanna play
" a capella ". However, that being said, their time is coming! They just released Skull and Bones...a song Adam Chance wrote for Ubisofts upcoming game of the same name.

All vocals and beat boxing. No instruments. Yes, Adam’s playing his famous “ no-Monica”.
They perform multiple genres - hip hop, R&B , opera, country, pop.
The opening instrumental sound is a “ jaw harp”.
This song- an old folk song- was popularized in the film, “ O Brother Where Art Thou?”
You’re thinking of Sawyer Fredericks from The Voice.

Not only is it country, it's a capella country and they are AMAZING!!!!!! No instruments, just vocals. The sound effects and percussion are courtesy of their national champion beat boxer Adam Rupp. He sounds more like a harmonica than an actual harmonica! The deep voiced guy is Tim Foust. He has a five octave range, so he can sing pretty much anything.

No instruments other than their incredible talent. I have been a Home Free fan for a number of years, and I enjoyed seeing you discover their talent for the first time. Adam Rupp, the beat boxer, is my favorite “drummer” from in any group-past or present. They don’t really have any less than stellar songs, and most of their covers are as good or better than the original artist, IMO. Enjoy exploring the Home Free universe.

You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.
Some of my favorites are "Take Me Home Country Roads", "In The Blood", "Ring Of Fire", "Blue Ain't Your Color", "How Great Thou Art", "Elvira", "Hillbilly Bone", "American Pie", "Brother In Arms", "One Man Band", "Listen To The Music" etc.

I chose Adam Rupp over Kevin Olusola as far as best beatboxer for sure.
Avi over Tim for best bass.
      Rob and Austin over Mitch
      Definitely Chance over Scott

@@pamscarr8696Adam may be the best beatboxer on the planet. I'd have to put Leyne as second, followed closely by Kevin.
Best bass on the business has to be geoff, though. Tim is amazing, but there's nothing like the smooth butter of Mr Castalucci... Austin does have probably the best tenor voice in the business, though

    • @kenf3539
      @kenf3539 ปีที่แล้ว +6

WOW. Not a single song I would recommend is in your list, maybe "Hillbilly Bone".
In no order: "Love Train", "My Church", "Down to the Honkytonk", "Folsom Prison Blues", "End of the Road" ...and after those, "Mayday".
The "no-monica" work by Adam on "Ain't Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)" deserves mention
The talent to pull off the "Butts Remix" has to be acknowledged.
The collaboration with Peter Hollens in "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is also great (especially with the video).

No, they didn't "come from a TV show". They were a professional touring group well before they were on the Sing Off. The show just gave them a wider audience.
I'm surprised no one (yet) has recommended that you use headphones when listening to a capella music so you don't miss anything. No instruments, not even a jaw harp. All vocal.
I laughed out loud when you said "Country Temptations". I love that description. But don't pigeonhole them - they sing everything from hard country to recent pop. Sacred, R&B, opera, musical theater.... Enjoy the ride.

The sad fact is that radio stations won't play acapella groups so the world at large doesn't know these talented wonderful guys. Those of us that do know them love them dearly and are referred to as home fries. The opening instrument (not really, done by Chance) is a mouth harp, Adam Rupp plays a wicked nomonica (there really is no harmonica). They're listed as "country" but in truth they can do anything and everything. Just go down the list and you won't find a bad song whether covers or originals. They've done a few colabs, most notably with the Oak Ridge Boys and Kenny Rogers.

NO DRUMS at all. Just the amazing percussionist Adam Rupp. FYI- they are an independent group. They bought themselves out of their contract several years ago due to artistic and monetary issues. They can sing ANYTHING. You should react to the following for starters-“End of the Road”, which will blow you away. “How Great Thou Art”, “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, “I Can’t Outrun You”(pure 5 part harmony). You mentioned the Temptations, so you will probably love “Blue Ain’t Your Color”. “Butts Remix” is hilarious and strikingly good. “When a Man Loves a Woman”, “Helplessly Hoping”(more 5 paront harmony), for fun “Champagne Taste(on a beer budget)”Catch Me If You Can “, “Sea Shanty Medley “, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain “. The Home Fries(Home Free fans)will now flock to your channel to help you jump into the rabbit hole.

Check out their version of Boys II Men's "End of the Road" and Crosby Stills and Nash's Helplessly Hoping". Oh, by the way, those drums you think you hear is Adam Rupp, an incredibly talented (award winning) beat boxer/ percussionist. New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas that excel in all music genres. They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother and their latest: Stargazer Lilies trilogy, Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies and Mr. ...the list goes on. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Adam Chance just wrote the theme song to Ubisoft's new Pirate themed video game, Skull and Bones and Home Free performs it. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

Home Free is the best group around! Love them. They are a cappella so no instruments, only the beatboxer and he was doing drums, harmonica and other sounds with his mouth. They can all beatbox to a degree. 3 are from the south, 2 are from Minnesota. Tim Foust is the bass. He has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and then sing up with the tenors. He has broken speakers before. Austin Brown, the lead in this song, can yodel and sing high. Rob Lundquist, with glasses, is the tenor and can sing opera. Chance, baritone, back row left, was doing the “mouth harp” sound. Adam Rupp (like “up”) is the beatboxer and is amazing! They sing country but sing all genres and also write and sing their own songs. Try End of the Road, In the Blood, Skull & Bones. 🤩😃

Adam Rupp is the beat boxer who makes all the drum and harmonica sounds, Tim Foust in the bass, Rob Lundquist is tenor, Austin Brown is the high tenor, and Adam Chance, otherwise known simply as Chance is baritone, he was doing the mouth harp at the beginning and end, but Tim and Chance have multi-range vocal talents so they both can sing up in the tenor range and way down in the basement. By the way, Diana Ross called them and asked them to sing for her 75th birthday party.

They are very underrated. They are working artists, who have a loyal following but have never hit the superstar status. Anyone of them is talented enough to be a solo artist, yet their gift is their tight harmonies and ability to "team" sing. By "team sing " I mean working together to get the job done. If Tim is the lead singer Chance fills in the low notes. They had 3 that can sing tenor one that happens to be the DEEP bass that can blow out a speaker by "growling" at it.

Home Free is 100% a Capella! NO INSTRUMENTS! The opening sound is a "Jaw Harp" and the sound is made by Adam Chance (goes by Chance). The beat boxing (drums) and the harmonica sounds are from Adam Rupp. Tim Foust is the bass singer and has a 5+ octave range. Home Free has a TH-cam channel with 1.66 million subscribers and 325 videos. The group was formed in 2000. The reasons you don't hear them on mainstream radio is that they are a Capella and are not part of a major record label. They own and produce all their own music. Their albums are sold through their website. While they are considered a "country" group, they have covers of songs from all genres of music. Everything from Opera to Boyz2Men, the Doobie Brothers, Johnny Cash and many more. Just pick one of their songs, you can't go wrong.

The song is from the movie O Brother Where Aren't Thou with George Clooney. The first person singing is Austin Brown (high tenor) from Georgia but now lives in Tennessee; Rob Lundquist (tenor, beard and glasses) is from, and still lives, in Minnesota; Tim Foust (bass with 5 octave range) is from Texas but now lives in Tennessee; Adam Chance (known as Chance, baritone, but can sing bass) is from Alabama but now lives in California; and Adam Rupp (beatboxer) is from and still lives in Minnesota. He and his brother, Chris, began HF. Chris sang with the group until 2016 (Chance then joined the group) to branch out on his own.

The trinity of great a capella groups are:
Pentatonix (choral emphasis plus some pop: lots of great Christmas stuff--beautiful voices; they popularized a cappella)
VoicePlay (lots of soundtracks and musical piece, as well as R&B, lots of great Halloween stuff--incredible arrangements)
Home Free (country focus, with some folk and rock, lots of fun)
All three are incredibly versatile and cover many genres... And they each have an amazing deep bass singer.
    So much worth exploring!

You're hooked now. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole that is Home Free. My wife and I saw them live last December, is was crazy good! And is truly all vocal. They have over 130 TH-cam videos. I will say this you need to do a few before you react to "Mayday" or their Boys to Men cover "End of the Road ". I would suggest their cover of "My Church" and their original "Dive Bar Saints" before you get truly blown away by the other two. Their 2 Johnny Cask covers, "Ring of Fire" and "Folsom Prison Blues," are also fire.
Enjoy your journey, welcome, you'll soon be one of the HOME FRIES, the tag their fans have.
I especially liked your references to great talent not getting their recognition justly deserved.
Whether you react to them or not, here's another example of pure talent, unheard, for the most part. I found this trio of ladies about 5 years ago on TH-cam and have been as hooked on their music as I am Home Free and other underknown artist. They're The Rainbow Girls, out of northern California. Their harmonies are like angels. A mix of rock, folk, southern rock, blues, and even bluegrass. Watch the official videos of their cover of Down Home Girl, then their original "Cameron Sterling." Once you're hooked, go watch "Yuba."

I've watched so many of your videos over time. I don't know why I never subscribed! I just did, though, in hopes of hearing more Home Free!! There's SO MUCH to choose from in multiple genres. They're touted as "country", but successfully do any genre. 👍 The past members were all years ago. There has only been one member switch since they won the Sing-Off in 2013. The bass, Tim Foust (pronounced *Fowst*) has an impressive 5 octave range! He has blown out speakers at concerts more than once! Lol Adam Rupp (pronounced like *up*) is a freak of nature who can reproduce ANY sound! His vocal percussion sounds like actual drums and has shocked more than a few real drummers reacting to them. 👍 He does multiple

    • @leslieoneal4464
      @leslieoneal4464 ปีที่แล้ว +2

He does multiple instruments vocally. Look up "Adam Rupp Drum Solo" on YT! It's from 2015 and he's wearing a red flannel shirt. It's an older video from a solo at a Home Free concert, but its it's really the best to showcase his drumming! He's only gotten better over the years since!! 😳🤯
I highly recommend a few songs to get your feet wet:
"When a Man Loves a Woman" (Percy Sledge/Michael Bolton cover) will *blow your mind* with Austin taking lead. Talk about soul!!
"End of the Road" (Boys 2 Men cover) will give you a taste of their R&B with Rob taking lead!!
"Listen to the Music" (Doobie Brothers cover) will make you completely forget you're listening to a capella!! Outstanding!! 🔥💯
"Blue Ain't Your Color" (Keith Urban cover) is a *MUST SEE* since you called them the "country Temptations"!! Lol You'll love it!!
"Love Train" (O'Jays cover) will have you wanting to dance!
There are way too many to try and list here. Just pick one from the hundreds available! Not a bad one in the bunch! ❤🎶
Radio stations don't play a capella music much. Not sure why as Home Free has literally millions of fans WORLDWIDE!
They broke away from a major record label so they'd have creative freedom with their music. They put out 3 or 4 albums with Sony, then created *Home Free Records*. So, no big marketing push and big money now.
They LOVE their fans (Home Fries) and love what they do. Each member is a super-talented artist on their own, but when they get together ... magic happens!! Enjoy falling down the HF rabbit hole! 💯🤯

  • @Laura_Martin42

What is this, you ask? It's magic! They are all so good at what they do, it feels like magic every time I hear them! There were no instruments at all, not even the little noise you heard that you thought was that little mouth thing (jaw harp). There wasn't one. Just their mouths and vocal chords.

Yep, same song the kid did on the voice with a Home Free upgrade. Lordy, you got so much joy ahead of you with Home Free! Country, soul, pop rock, classic rock, hymns, opera, originals, collaborations with the likes of Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Don McLean. You name it they can do it with class, style and some of the best harmony on the planet. FYI, they can all beatbox but Adam is the master, 2 time world champion beatboxer. They are also hilarious and put out some of the best videos you'll come across. Suggestions: "End of The Road" Boyz to men cover.
" Blue Ain't Your Color" Keith Urban cover.
"Brothers in Arms" Dire Straits cover.
"American Pie" featuring original singer/song writer, Mr. Don McLean. McLean
contacted Home Free to re-record his American classic's 50th anniversary
    edition.
"Children Go Where I Send Thee" with Mr. Kenny Rogers. Kenny contacted
Home Free to record with him on his Christmas album. Be sure and listen to
the very end for a message from Kenny about Home Free.
"Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget" Home Free original for fun.
"Butts Remix" speaks for it's self. Enjoy my friend.

NO DRUMS, NO JAW HARP, NO HARMONICA, NO INSTRUMENTS; NONE!!!
Adam Rupp is considered (jokingly) as a 'freak of nature' because of his beatboxing talent, award-winning. For real.
You need to do a reaction to the three following, AND IN THIS ORDER:
-"Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget: The 'deep voice' guy is Tim Foust, who has a FIVE OCTAVE range; from basso profundo to tenor. He wrote this song, which showcases some of his range. Plus it's a funny, fun song. (Tim wrote a follow-up song, "Full of Cheer" that's also worth viewing.)
-"All About That Bass": A GREAT cover of this song, that the band had great fun with.
-"When A Man Loves A Woman": Recorded during lockdown, so the members could not travel or sing in the same room. This song showcases Austin, who knocks it out of the park; it helps that his girlfriend he is DEEPLY in love with was off-camera in the room, and he would occasionally look over to her, basically singing part of this to her. YOU MUST WAIT TO LISTEN TO THIS SONG UNTIL YOU'VE HEARD AT LEAST THE OTHER TWO SONGS I MENTIONED!!!! It's worth the wait.
    Welcome to Home Free.
