Home Free bought themselves out of their record contract several years ago due to artistic and monetary issues. They are COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT ARTISTS. They have a Patreon and they tour and have their videos. They also sell their CD’s and albums. They’re better off being independent because they don’t get “pigeonholed” into a “sound”.
Yes, but the band say (as others, like David Crosby, have ben saying) that as the costs of touring rise every year, they cannot afford to do as much touring to loads of smaller venues. Some bands now get by solely on merch sales at live shows! I know they and their management are in constant discussion over how to overcome this problem, that you need to tour to help keep the fan base but you can't really afford to. Add to that the guys' increasing need for family life - touring is a young person's game. And in these days of streaming, sales of CDs have slumped to very low levels. They don't want to break up the band but they have to solve the cashflow problem, since they don't have a label to back them.
@@patriciamcl54 Tim said in his interview with Peter Barber that they will tour less and go harder on streaming to have more time with their families, but yes, that touring is less and less profitable is an overall music industrie issue
I do believe that we have just witnessed the birth of a new HOME FRY!!! Welcome to the rabbit hole and hang on for the ride!!! Pick anything that they do and they will amaze you!
Welcome to the Home Fries! I’m gonna recommend their covers of End of the Road and Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For (featuring Peter Hollens). Big soul in both and a cool surprise in the second one.
The first Home Free song that comes to mind is "Listen to the Music" a Dooby Brothers cover, will knock your socks off. Loved the reaction!! Yep, during covid. Home Free never disappoints, ever! They left Columbia records because they wanted freedom to do their music their way.
home free can sing any genre, and they never disappoint! home free fan base are called HOME FRIES..welcome to the rabbit hole! this was shot during covid, another song to check out is their cover of boyz II men end of the road, also thinking out loud/let's get it on, butts remix, country pop medley, delta dawn..bruh, the list is extensive. adam rupp (beat boxer) drum solo...2015 or 2022. their songs are bangers...both covers (upgrades) and originals. solos as well as collaborations. Also need headphones my brother..you can enjoy and hear it all. great reaction, just subbed for more home free!
I discovered Home Free in 2020, when the shutdown started. I never got hooked on a band so fast! I finally got to see them in concert July 2022...they are incredible Live too!! There is no bad song from them. None. Country music is on the bottom of the list for me, but I make an exception every time no matter what genre Home Free sings. ❤ I cant wait for your next reaction of Home Free.
Sorry if we're overloading you with HF requests, but we Home Fries get excited when we smell a new fry in the fryer! 🤣 If you want more R&B def do End of the Road and Blue Aint Your Color. Want something a little peppy? Cant Fight the Feeling Something silly? Butts Remix or Might as Well be Me Something to get you moving? Listen to the Music or Love Train. Love song? Thinking Out Loud/Lets Get it On smash up or Whats Left of My Heart...maybe even do the Stargazer Trilogy. Its beautiful. Beautiful harmonies that will give you goosebumps? Brothers in Arms or Helplessly Hoping. Need a little Gospel in your life? My Church or How Great Thou Art Wanna lose your mind at their versatility? Mayday (but not until youre familiar with the guys please). Like LARPing or cosplay? Brother is a fabulous song/video. If you like Opera? Nessun Dorma....and the list goes on.
These Home Free Songs Give Shivers Up Our Spine “I Can't Outrun You” “My Church” “Colder Weather” “Ring of Fire” “In the Blood” “God Bless The USA” “Hillbilly Bone” “Blue Ain't Your Color”
“Household Names!! I’ve been a FAN since they were on “The Sing Off: Season 4” in 2013!! I’ve also seen them 3 times in concert and this December will be #4!! They “ain’t” JUST country!!! YOU CAN’T GO WRONG!!!
For a beautiful five part harmony, try their Hopelessly hoping, for a good laugh try The Butts medley, for whole body chills try In the blood. Love your reactions!
Yep, you are a Home Fry! Percy Sledge would be proud. Austin Brown is the lead singer here, Adam Rupp is the beatboxer, Tim Foust is the bass, Rob Lundquist is the tenor, the one with the beard and glasses and Adam Chance the baritone. They are all kind of mix and match, though, and can do anything they need to do. They are all amazing!
And that's the way this song should be sung ! Home Free guys are masters of music ... uniquely talented individuals who come together in glorious harmony !
Welcome to the Home Fries, Brother. These men are some of the most talented artists in the world right now. I think this is a good way of getting started End of the Road American Pie How Great Thou Art Unchained Melody Look forward to your reactions. :)
YOU ARE GOING TO BECOME A HOME FRY!!!!!!...DREW, PLEASE REACT TO: BOYZ II MEN COVER; END OF THE ROAD....YOU WILL NOT JUST RUN OUT OF THE ROOM, YOU WILL RUN DOWN THE BLOCK!!!! AND IF YOU WANT A GOOD BELLY LAUGH, REACT TO THEIR; THE BUTT REMIX...THEY WILL HAVE YOU LAUGHING IN THE FLOOR!!..YEAH, YOU'RE GONNA BECOME A TRUE "HOME FRY"...LOL
Welcome to the rabbit hole, New Fry! You are so screwed … but in a good way! Great reaction! Subbed for more Home Free, the BEST a cappella group around! Home Free isn’t with Columbia, they are entirely independent now. Austin killed this and made it his own. I’m old enough to remember the Percy Sledge version of this, and I vividly remember when Michael Bolton released it (hard to miss it, it was huge), but I adore Austin’s version. The fact that it’s a cappella just adds something to it. It didn’t hurt that Austin’s girlfriend was next to the cameraman. There are so many great songs, it’s hard to give you a list, but you did ask…. Home Fries usually recommend that you NOT react to Mayday until you’ve heard several songs and get to know our guys and their usual roles. Every New Fry has their own pace, but I’d say 10 at least before Mayday. End of the Road should be next. Tenor Rob Lundquist (dark beard and glasses) takes the lead and kills it. I also love his lead in Bless the Broken Road, and Blue Ain’t Your Color. Check out he and Austin “attempting” opera in Nessun Dorma, as well. Even those who don’t know or like opera can’t help but be amazed! You haven’t reacted to anything lead by Chance (he did the mouth harp in Constant Sorrow, was in the back row, left), and I recommend One Man Band, Winter Song, Brothers, Helplessly Hoping (beautiful 5 part harmony), Sea Shanty Medley, Skull and Bones (which he wrote - he and Austin also play the guitar and mandolin in this, so not a cappella), and Castle on the Hill. He’s the newest member, taking over for Chris Rupp, brother of the beatboxer and co-founder, when he moved on from the group. He sings baritone, but can take over on bass when needed. To hear basso-profundo and part dragon Tim Foust take lead, start with Ring of Fire and Folsom Prison Blues! Then move on to some of his others like Brothers in Arms (another brilliant example of 5 part harmony), In the Blood, Mary Did You Know, Hillbilly Bone, Champagne Tastes (which he wrote), Flowers on the Wall, and Forever and Ever Amen. He also has a collaboration with Peter Hollens (another a cappella singer) doing Misty Mountain - a must hear! There are also several videos out there called “Story Time with Tim,” showing some of his funny side. I also highly recommend his travel log called A Southerner in the Snow - I find it hilarious. You’ve already seen how amazing Austin Brown is in the two videos you’ve reacted to, but you really need to see him in Listen to the Music (Adam Rupp does an amazing job with the beatboxing, as usual)! Other favorites featuring him are All About the Bass (an early video when Chris Rupp was still with them), and Crazy. Full of Cheer and Cold Hard Cash are a couple of Christmas songs you should check out, as well. Adam Rupp’s beatboxing is outstanding in everything. He has a few “drum solo” videos out there (I like the early one where he’s in the red plaid shirt), and you really need to hear him in Ain’t Goin Down (Till the Sun Comes Up), which is only available on their Facebook channel due to copyright issues (but can be reacted to on YT). Adam’s “nomonica” is full on amazing! He arranged my all-time favorite version of Do You Hear What I Hear. If you want to hear his voice (he doesn’t do singing solos often), you can hear him for a few glorious seconds in How Great Thou Art - absolutely the most beautiful rendition I’ve ever heard and another awesome example of 5 part harmony. To see their funny side, you need to see The Butt’s Remix - but many of their videos include some humor. Country Fried Pop is another silly one. American Pie, God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, Children Go Where I Send Thee, and Elvira are all fantastic collaborations. Welcome to the party, New Fry! The rabbit hole is deep, but you’ll love every minute!
Yup..... during Covid. If you want to hear some of their originals..... "Catch me if you can" and "Dive bar saints" Two great originals by them. There are over 250 songs out there by home free and all of them are upgrades to covers and fantastic originals.
I've never even heard of this group. I found them through someone talking about them here on YT. When I heard them sing, When A Man Loves A Woman, OMG they blew my mind away. Plus, they sing all their songs Acapella. They have to be the most awesome group I have ever heard. Goose bumps, hair standing up on my arms. I love ELVIS PRESLEY, but Home Free is now my top band! I could listen to them 24/7! ❤ My favorite, of any vocal band, is the bass singer. The bass singer for Home Free has the most impressive octave scale. I watched a YT of his vocal scale and I was left speechless. Talk about a gift from above, this groups harmony and talents is just that. 💜
They each recorded in their own little studio space at their homes, except for Austin who was in the pro studio with the sound man and Amberly. Their arranger Darrin Rust put it all together to make this gem to be released, as he did for a new video every other Friday. Darren can be seen in several of their videos, one of them being Grandmas Got Run Over By a Reindeer. He's the home owner.
I recommend their cover of the Dire Straits song "Brothers In Arms". It features the two low singers (Tim Foust (bass) and Adam Chance (baritone) and is yet a third style compared to the two you have already heard. It took about 1 month back at the beginning of the co-vid lockdown for Home Free to become my favorite group. Most acapella group only do covers, Like the two you already heard and the one I recommended, but their last album had 14 songs and 11 were originals with Tim Foust and/or Austin Brown (the lead in "When A Man Loves A Woman") as the lead writers of writing teams. The title track of the album is "So Long Dixie" and both Tim and Austin led the writing team for that one. I recommend listening to that as well.
And to think these guys sang this separate during covid. I think you'll get mind blown by their version of End of the Road, from Boyz2Men & also their bluesy version of Country Roads...it's an amazing arrangement. Actually Home Free created their own label in 2019 to have more creative control over their music. Also react to their own composition, Skull & Bones - commissioned by Ubisoft game company for their new game "Skull & Bones". A pirate themed song.
Home Fries is what we are called. Austin killed this. The original artist Percy Sledge would be so proud. Not to mention the background harmonies and the beat boxing! Check out their cover of BoyzII Men End of The Road. It will blow your mind! Love your reaction!
Gotta hear their cover of R@B classic End of the Road by Boys to Men. These guys don't want a major label dictating to them the music that they have to sing. Only about 330 more videos to go and growing!
Yes, this was done during the lock down. They have several great songs during that period. Check out their Sea Shanty Medley and Meet In The Middle also done during lock down. There are so many videos, both covers and originals and everyone of them will just blow you away. Their cover of Boyz 2 Men's End of the Road is a favorite of many. They also have several collaborations where they sing with the original artists; Lee Greenwood, God Bless The USA, Oak Ridge Boys, Elvira and Don McLean, American Pie just to name the most notable. Also check out some of the solo work. Austin and Rob even take on opera singing, Nessun Dorma. You can't miss with anything they do. Looking forward to your next Home Free experience.
If you want more “cutting loose”, react to Home Free live at the Hosanna Concert 2013 “ Joy to the World “. Gospel Rob has the lead and and he digs deep into such a jazzy , funky, rendition . One of my H F favorites.
Since you really like Austin Brown singing the lead in this song you have GOT to listen to Austin Brown…Bring Him Home!! They all did a awesome job :) Great reaction 🎉 I love Home Free😊
All of them from their silly songs to hit you in the feels you can’t go wrong once your familiar with them and who is who then the fun begins. They have solo songs as well. And ones with other accapella groups. Don’t forget Tim the bassist has 5 octave range. Welcome to the rabbit hole ❤😂
You're officially a Home Fry. We told you - you're fucking doomed. Austin blew this out of the water. Percy Sledge sang this with pathos. Austin sang this with adoration. The guys, naturally, backed up his vocals beautifully. He was singing to his girlfriend who was in the studio just off camera. Hence, the wonderful expression of emotion in his face and body movements. This was another video shot during quarantine.. Your next listen should be End Of The Road. Rob hits that one out of the park.
I first discovered Home Free on the Sing Off (Season 4) show on NBC in 2013, and have been following them ever since, one way or the other. After becoming displeased with being obligated to a label, they broke free and are an independent group now. That's why we don't hear them on traditional media. You're right that talent is not the priority in the corporate-based music world. But HF is phenomenal, IMO the best of the a cappella bands, and my favorite by far. I enjoyed and appreciated your reaction to both "Man of Constant Sorrow" and this one. Welcome to the Home Fries. Country, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Classic rock, Easy Listening, -- even opera (!), they will not disappoint you!
End of the Road???? Boys 2 Men Cover You will be in shock.. .. I've been following them since 2013 when they won The Sing-Off.. haven't missed one song original or cover.. These are my boys love Home Free 🏡🆓🏡🍟 have to do a Adam Rupp drum solo that will blow you out of the water..
The fans are Home Fries. :) Your reaction leaving the room...I do believe you're gobsmacked! LOL I had the same reaction, believe you me...my mouth nearly dropped to the floor.
Homefries! Yes happily been one since 2013! Its a wild ride down this slip slide rabbit hole!! Over 200 music videos, covers and originals. Kept us happy and sane during lock down, new video every 2 weeks, they have the cd out for it. Subbed for HomeFree, thank you!
Welcome to the fan club. They are amazing. Some of my favs are Mayday, Can't stop the music, really all of them. We "Home Fries" are glad you have joined us.
Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. Drummers have often commented on just how realistic his sound is. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.
His girlfriend was the only one in the studio with him, so he had her beautiful face to inspire him. Adam Rupp is the magician providing the "drums". Love the Michael Jordan poster!
I agree with you on music today. Too much is artificially enhanced. Home Free has songs in many categories. They do doo wop, rock, pop, early country, write their own, and just released a song written by one of their members, Adam Chance, called Skull and Bones which is for a video game called Skull and Bones by Ubisoft.
I’ve never LOVED this song, deep down in my soul before…until now. I totally agree with you. Home Free (and Voice Play), should be household names. Home Free I can listen to all day every day. Their originals are fabulous and they make most of their covers better than or just as good as the originals, putting their own spin on them. For pure theatrics I love Voice Play, especially the music they have been putting out for the last few years. Both groups serve the music without ego. Superstars.
Welcome to the legion of viewers who have been "Austinized" by this. I've never cared for this song, neither the Percy Sledge version nor the Michael Bolton one. But the boys absolutely killed it. Amazing backing vocal harmonies. Percussion perfection. And Austin just flying off into the stratosphere like it's nothing. You only have about 170 more videos to go. I suggest End of the Road or The Driver or Helplessly Hoping next. Enjoy the ride. Welcome to the Home Fries.
It is always amazing to watch people find Home Free. I owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude for getting me through the Covid fiasco. My absolute favorite is their cover of How Great Thou Art, shot in the Alps, I believe. It still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it and it is absolutely beautiful to watch. Thank you for your cover and your take! You made my day! Blessings upon your day. 😊
No solo act is ever going to best HF's version of this song, in my opinion, with their harmonies and Adam's vocal percussion. Home Free OWNS this song for me now❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ And just think--they did this during lockdown! Home Free's creativity in producing the "quarantine" videos--and their commitment to continuing to provide new entertainment throughout (even though they weren't even in the same state!)--has brought along many converts. Got to ❤️❤️❤️ Home Free!!
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! We fans call ourselves Home Fries lol. Keep exploring this amazing group of incredibly talented individuals who have chosen to sing together and bless our eardrums with such beautiful sound!
Austin has a voice that goes straight to the heart. The overall harmony plus the vocals by Austin is so emotional. Thanks guys. I have listened to about 50 reactions to this song and every single one has been blown away. I still get chills each time I hear it.
HOME FREE!!!! My favorite group! So much talent all in one group is amazing!! You're absolutely right about the music industry. This group has more talent than most of the groups out there with tons of money to pay off the producers. Yes, this piece was done during Covid, individually, in their own homes, and pieced together. They are amazing!!
Austin killed this; and you wait until you hear Rob go off on, End of the Road (yes, Boyz to Men)!!!! 🔥🔥🔥

We deam u a Home Fry!! Congratulations 👏
Yes, I see you reacted to the Dire Straits version, so now check out their cover
Let me echo "End Of The Road" You must hear that one for sure!
This is one of my fave HF songs. Austin kills it.
*"Two Country Singers Try Opera."
Home Free can do anything.
*Song #3 The Butts Remix
snicker snicker
If you want more “cutting loose”, react to Home Free live at the Hosanna Concert 2013 “ Joy to the World “. Gospel Rob has the lead and and he digs deep into such a jazzy , funky, rendition . One of my H F favorites.
Home Free was putting out a new video about every 2 weeks during Covid with the guys each recording in there homes, they are amazing.
Since you really like Austin Brown singing the lead in this song you have GOT to listen to Austin Brown…Bring Him Home!! They all did a awesome job :) Great reaction 🎉 I love Home Free😊
Now you're ready for their version of End of the Road. Take it from an old Home Fry. They do Boyz 2 Men justice!! Peace
Agreed!
Next, you must hear The End of the Road (Boyz 2 Men)....prepare yourself
There are so many songs! They have a series called “Home away from home” that gives back stories. So much content!!!
Simply world class.
The next song to listen to is a cover by Boyz ll Men..."End of the Road"
Put unchained melody on your list also
The fans are Home Fries. :)
Your reaction leaving the room...I do believe you're gobsmacked!
Wait to do Mayday though. It’s much better after you’ve seen at least 5 of their “regular” songs. The surprise will be worth it, I promise!
This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.
this is SOOO much better than Bolton's attempt. And much more upbeat (?) than Percy's was.
Try the “End of the Road “ Boyz 2 Men”
We expect lots more HF reactions. Their talent is so diverse. Butts Remix is a must!
His girlfriend was the only one in the studio with him, so he had her beautiful face to inspire him. Adam Rupp is the magician providing the "drums". Love the Michael Jordan poster!
I agree with you on music today. Too much is artificially enhanced. Home Free has songs in many categories. They do doo wop, rock, pop, early country, write their own, and just released a song written by one of their members, Adam Chance, called
Skull and Bones which is for a video game called Skull and Bones by Ubisoft.
Gotta do "love train" & "Hillbilly Bone". ❤❤
Superstars.
Listen to their rendition of and of the road
Wait till you hear them sing Boyz to Men End of the road!!! 😂😂😂
Austin was singing to his lady, who was in the studio with him. Great reaction, I hope to see more of your HF reactions!
They are just as good live
Home Free Butts Remix for a great time!!!!!!😂
Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. Check out Adam Rupp Drum Solo.
I'm here and subscribed for Home Free. They are excellent! You won't be disappointed. Thank you.
They just never miss. Wow. Call you a home fry!
I agree, more Home Free!! Thanks for the reaction.
If u want a home free gospel song “how great thou art” is a masterpiece of vocals and harmony
No solo act is ever going to best HF's version of this song, in my opinion, with their harmonies and Adam's vocal percussion. Home Free OWNS this song for me now❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
And just think--they did this during lockdown! Home Free's creativity in producing the "quarantine" videos--and their commitment to continuing to provide new entertainment throughout (even though they weren't even in the same state!)--has brought along many converts. Got to ❤️❤️❤️ Home Free!!
Magical beutifull soulful anjelic smooth heartfelt 😊
You will love every song ever from them.. they are amazing. Welcome to Home Fry nation
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! We fans call ourselves Home Fries lol. Keep exploring this amazing group of incredibly talented individuals who have chosen to sing together and bless our eardrums with such beautiful sound!
Check out Adam Rupp drum solo
Might I suggest Everybody Walkin This Land. Thank you!
That. Was. Everything! "Lord have mercy" is right, wow.
It just gets better and better and WOW!! I have listened to this so many times. As a woman, it makes me melt.
