We took the brand new Toyota Yaris Hybrid 2017 to one of North East's best kept secrets, Middleton Lodge Estate near Darlington, which also comprises the Rosette awarded Coach House.
So, against a backdrop of wild woodland flowers and lush green foliage we've given you a quick review of one of Toyota's most popular vehicles, remixed!
The tranquil setting of Middleton Lodge Estate fused beautifully with the soft, quiet and smooth drive that the new 2017 Yaris Hybrid delivers. However, don't be fooled that this is all the Yaris has to offer, oh no. The way the 'Tokyo Red' paint pops against the country palette in this video gives you an indication there's more going on here.

It's true. Most of the driving we've done in this vehicle is through the busy streets of Newcastle. Most of which, by the way, can be done in EV mode (Electric Vehicle). Perfect if you're in rush hour or indeed having to drive through heart of the city centre without any emissions at all.
There's another advantage, no need for clumsy city clutch control or a listening to a noisy stop start diesel engine when only moving 2 meters in traffic, all of course helping the environment and the pocket at the same time. It's no accident of course as Toyota were the first to the Hybrid party and have been constant investing for over 20 years in Hybrid Technology, making them the clear leader of the Hybrid vehicle world.
There's also tons of technology on board too. Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is now standard on the new Yaris 2017, further eliminating driving pressures and helping keep you safe on suburban roads, country lanes and motorways. What does TSS do? Well you have a Pre-Collision System, Lane departure alert, automatic high beam and Road Sign Assist all working for you all the time assessing and avoiding obstacles the road throws at you. TSS is standard across all models and gives you even more reason to trust a Yaris.
From leaving Newcastle City Centre, via Gateshead and the A167, we also encompassed a good 90 mile round trip up and down the A1. Using the Cruise Control and testing the T.S.S features, enabled us to gain an understanding of the Yaris’ versatility through different driving modes and situations that your everyday person would drive through day to day.
Inside, the streamlined multimedia system, with its innovative TFT multi-information display is also another example of how the Yaris 2017 is designed for the modern driver of any age and for those who like the technology to be easy to use! It's everything you want you infotainment system, it looks good, it’s positioned well and is also your visual parking camera to boot.
There's a plethora of ways you can personalise your Yaris too with different spec grades, alloys, bi-tone paint options and of course a selection of engine sizes to suit every need.
In summary, like Middleton Lodge Estate, the Yaris is both refreshing and energising, quiet and effortless but also Intelligent and reliable in equal measure.
