I have countless friends who have never cheated, although many have. Some struggle not to, and some would never consider it. There are all types. My grandfather was kicked in the head by a mule as a little boy. He actually let me feel the gash in his head when I was a little girl. It scared me to death. It was a traumatic brain injury, he was in & out of sleep/consciousness and was not expected to live. He was also an incredibly loyal husband to my grandmother for over 60 years of marriage. Why wasn’t he a cheater??? He loved my grandmother with all his heart until his last breath. I’m not buying it. My guess is it has more to do with our narcissistic culture & society. I think there are circumstances that make people vulnerable to having affairs, but they are never good reasons/excuses to have one. Truth is, when people have an affair they are not exercising any reasoning skill, but rather are responding to their egos being stroked. With the confidence they gain from self-esteem build-up, they think they are invincible to being caught. The pleasure then becomes addicting and something that feels so good, certainly couldn't be wrong. Maximum deception.
