    Level 69 Mediv here, and didn't know about the space bar trick to make sure you don't misclick the portal. Also, I really don't want to level Mediv up.

  • @Maledivius
    @Maledivius 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    His 20 talent choice is explainable - they had pretty strongly mana dependent champions: Jaina Kharazim, Azmodan, himself, not no mention 10% spell power that empowers their already teamfight oriented comp. The 'I guarantee we steal this boss, bois' upgrade or 'hey, I'm specialist too, Zagara, look!' weren't really power plays here.

    I've played med up to level 42 now, and I /really/ like arcane brilliance. I mostly play in lower ranks and my friends aren't great at going back so arcane brilliance allows me to keep people topped up on mana as well as providing just a little bit extra burst damage. Love it at lower ranks. I'm personally a fan of polybomb over leyline and the polybomb talent at 20 reduces your ability to survive. With polybomb at its level 10 version, if you get caught out alone by one enemy, you can polybomb them and instantly raven form to escape.
    Additionally, it's also good to note that med can be a MASSIVE pain for anyone with dots, dots don't stop your casting of raven form and when in raven you cannot take damage. This way if someone like a Xul uses his ultimate you can force of will an ally to soak a bit of damage there and go into raven form for 2 or so seconds allowing you to escape much of that damage. The timing on living bomb from Kael is pretty tight, but if you use raven as the bomb is put on you, you'll not spread it to your allies and you won't take the explosion damage.

    Oh man. Medivh is one of my guilty pleasures, but I never get to really play him (To be fair, I mostly just do QMs, never ranked above low Gold)... He's such a blast to play, and massively underrated. The tip with centering the screen during portals will greatly help me for sure

  • @AnthonyWabo
    @AnthonyWabo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love playing medivh and i am pleasantly suprised i was doing many things right without watching many tutorials of him before. I just cant get people to get into those portals, really :D
    Lvl 1 portal is a great talent imo and being able to place them anywhere is awesome and creates some SWAG plays from time to time.

    8:21 its not about portaling too early without getting another q/aa, but portaling before his lv 7 arcane explosion proc. if he portals literally quarter of sec later - it would kill falstad.

    Thanks so much for this vid! I've been maining Medivh for a while now, and thought I was pretty good but not nuts or anything, but this really showed me some great stuff for me to work on and think about! Loved this style of video too, would love to see some more master level gameplay of some of the more complex heroes in the game.

    Erm... What is this? It's been a long time since I had been the first to comment on one of your videos.
    Anyways: this is a "pre viewing" comment, and I just wanted to say a quick thanks for all your videos! I really love them and I take away so much from your channel. Since it's about 11 pm here I'm going to bed now, knowing that I will watch your video in the morning while having breakfast. Can't imagine a better way to start the day. And as you upload most of your videos at about 10 pm in my time zone, watching them in the morning has become a sort of routine for me.
    Please keep it up, man!

    anyone got any ideas why i find it so hard to target the portal? i'm not bad with medivh, but i can't move in and out of the portal with anywhere near the speed of this guy because i find it so inaccurate. could it be because i've increased the size of my cursor? the centering trick doesn't apply because, as much as i hate to admit it, i lock my screen XD

    good video. haven't played medivh much since one of his big nerfs. might have to try him again as this reminds me of how fun he can be. though I typically just solo que which makes him that much harder to play.

  • @TheIllio

    I really love to use Leyline and Zeratul's VP to create an advantage by turning a 5v5 into a 5v3 or 5v2 for example or just to keep out certain enemies like to prevent them from using cc to stop our assassins or to prevent the supporter from doing his job. And because there are so many good ways to use Leyline I do prefer it to Polybomb in most cases. I tend to only pick Polybomb if there is no proper follow up to a Leyline, if the teamcompositions don't make a 3 seconds 5v3 much of an advantage or we are in desperate need of hard cc like against a Genji.
    BTW: I would guess that coaching is about 70% basic understanding about map situations, 20% about hero compositions and teamfight awareness and just 10% of actual tips and tricks about the own hero, am I wrong?

    • @Xanthanarium
      @Xanthanarium 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I imagine it would depend on whom you're coaching. GM players who want to brush up their gameplay of a certain hero probably need much less advice on map awareness than a bronze/silver player. I think that that's one of the biggest things that keeps people in those ranks; if you have no map awareness you can probably get pretty damn close to a Master/Grandmaster in your knowledge of a hero while still remaining in those ranks.

    Heh.. interesting vid! I picked up quite a few things here. Subbed! :-)
    One thing that has me wondering tho, why does a good player need several accounts??
    To me it seems they need to stomp babies to feel good about themselves, but maybe I got the wrong impression here?

    • @onkelpappkov2666
      @onkelpappkov2666 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe they don't want to spoil their immaculate rating by doing gimmicky, "fun" things. Imagine you've pushed your account way up the ladder, every match is hard-fought and you sit on a formidable rank with options to climb even higher if you just bring your A-game.
      Then you have a somewhat okay day, your mind is pre-occupied and you have half an hour to play before you have to do stuff. If you play on your main account, you're likely to lose and drop in rank. Your options are to either not play at all or to make a new account for casual games that help you practice for the one that you're pushing.

    • @onkelpappkov2666
      @onkelpappkov2666 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The disadvantage of locking your screen is that aiming with the mouse while moving becomes much harder. An absolute camera that shows you the current battle makes non-directional controls much easier.
      For example, you want to protect an ally. He moves, you move relative to him, your mouse movement compensates for both dimensions. It is harder to click on him than with a static camera that allows you to simply click a moving target.

    My 2 cents:
    1 - th-cam.com/video/yJgPSqG0-6o/w-d-xo.html - like, seriously? The moment I saw the Hinterland Blast charging up, Dabathur was already dodgin it. Epic.
    2 - Kharazim done a pretty awesome job, too.
    I would compliment your video, but it'd be redundant. I lack words to describe how I love it!

    Honestly the title of grand master that they give him or he earned, I don’t really see it. He is decent and he has overall good understanding of the map and the hero I guess, but not really anything outstanding. The whole thing about getting in those ranks is having a good team work and really decent teammates. He actually did kind of bad, him as a player is ok,

    • @hakancolakoglu5796
      @hakancolakoglu5796 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      He has that " I made a stupid mistake BUT I AM STILL AWESOOOOMEEE" attitude, that was kinda annoying. Either he is good at being aggressive or he is just being extra (like the diablo, varian or mal'ganis players who think they are immortal and can dive even in 1 vs 5) and it comes out useful at some points. Can't really say he is master tho
