  • Finally reviewing our Lone Rider ADV Tent, which we have been using since June 2020.
    Welcome to our 'home' set up for our round the world moto-camping life. This has been our home for over a year now. We have used it in various conditions all across the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and part of France. We have found the Lone Rider ADV Tent to be very good quality, durable for round-the-world Moto camping, compact and easy to set up!
    Shoutout to Lone Rider for sending this ADV Tent to us to support our travels!

    Hi ladies
    If you push the tent pegs in at an angle they’re less likely to pull out in bad weather and high winds
    Stay safe
    All the best

    A very nice review, thanks alot. The "airvents" I think also come in handy when you want to get a power cord into the tent. Some camping spots offer this service for extra charge. Stick the cord in and close it again otherwise some mosquitos will find and get you :)

    Just watched this video for a 2nd time, great review on the tent and if I go Lone Rider will go for this rather than the one with the bike port. Your other gear has given me some great ideas too as my normal camping gear is far too heavy for bike camping ! Ride safe ladies 💚

      Thanks for the feedback ☺️🙏 We just changed our tent to a lighter and bigger option (Hilleberg) BUT it was very costly which just reconfirms that we think the Lone Rider ADV tent is a great cost point when you consider build quality and durability 👍

    Great review ladies. I travel in hotels as I only do a few days or week at a time at the moment but am considering camping in the future.
    How did you manage to book that kind of weather in Scotland ?? 🤔🤔😜🥰

      @advtravelbug6100  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We used to as well and only took up camping since being back in Europe due to the pandemic to keep the costs down. We do love the freedom and flexibility of it but it's definitely more fun when the weather is in your favour haha And yes we got SO lucky with the weather in Scotland. Don't ask us how, but we sure are very grateful for it! Look forward to releasing the footage of our Scotland trip soon!

      We’ll it’s called “LONE RIDER ADV Tent” and has a molle system … in fact I think the entire tent has been designed with moto travel in mind ☺️

  • @JpOcDenver

    That molle webbing is NOT to attach the tent to stuff. It will eventually tear. It’s for attaching small, lightweight items.

    • @advtravelbug6100
      @advtravelbug6100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know - thanks!. We keep it inside our Mosko Moto Beaver tail but we see many people attaching the Lone Rider tent to their panniers.

    • @rob2985
      @rob2985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm looking to get this tent, my understanding is that the molle system is to attach to the bike if you don't want to put it in the panniers, I hope so anyway as that's my plan

    • @JpOcDenver
      @JpOcDenver 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rob2985 Using the webbing to secure the tent (strap it down) and help keep it in place would probably be fine. The webbing is NOT designed to bear the weight of the tent.

    • @advtravelbug6100

      Sandra uses the Cocoon silk liner and Fiona has Cocoon Egyptian cotton (as she doesn't like the feel of silk for some odd reason).

    Thanks for sharing. Good Video, you use good equipment on your trip. The bike with two persons and luggage is havy enough, 1 kg for a tent more or not..... by the way, when you drive with two bikes... greetings from Germany. Stefan

    To be extremely honest, I am not impressed by it. At 404.00 US dollars, to me it looks like an over priced tent.
    Here is my major issue with it. The “waterproof” floor lining doesn’t go up far enough all the way around. If you look at the conners, it only goes up may be an inch.Not enough.
    I saw a video in which the couple went to sleep and started raining, puddles developed under the tent and the water got inside the tent. Not a fun night for them. Now I want to make clear that it was bot one of those tents, but from the day on how far the waterproof goes up and if it really is waterproofed (many tents are one water resistant) is very important to me.
    I see those tents just like I do BMW’s, all hipe and nothing else. They slap the name “ADV” before the tent and people run to buy it.
    Before you do follow the trend, find yourself a good backpacking store and check out what they have. REI or Bass Pro Shops are great stores to check out. With REI being at the top of my list.
    Trust me, if someone needs great tents (and equipment) that are weather and wind proof, that is as light as possible, and compact as possible, those are backpackers. You want to know which are the best compact and light tents, ask backpackers.
    The inly tent Lone Rider makes that I like is the one which has a bike port. But that is not needed and makes it bulkier to carry.

    • @advtravelbug6100
      @advtravelbug6100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree the larger tents are way too heavy even if the port for the bike seems attractive.
      As stated in the video this is certainly not the lightest and compact tent but I certainly feel that the waterproof levels of this tent compared to MSR or similar tents in the price range that are lighter, the Lone Rider tent fairs much better. We never had issues with water despite camping a lot in the rain. Very surprised to hear that another user had issues with water - do you mind sharing the link? I would like to check it out also for myself.
      I have a few friends who travel and use the Lone Rider tent for their RTW trip and so far nobody had issues with rain. I actually felt that was one of its strongest points but would love to see the other video you mentioned. Thanks for sharing your thoughts also 🙏🏻
