They are great tents, of very high quality and I've always admired them, but here in Canada it would be around $1000 to get one to my door, so I just can't justify that much investment, especially when most trips I do I stay in motels now. I'm still using my 2 man tent I got from Amazon for 45 bucks around 8 years ago and it still serves me well and holds strong. Packs down much smaller than the big lone rider tent too.

Great review Saffy 😊 It definitely got put through it's paces on your Euro trip. Inner pitch first tents are usually roomier inside and far less noisy in the wind, I think it out weighs the downside of pitching in the rain. Nothing that a microfiber cloth can't resolve. 😊

Bet you had a flashback from your adventure last year when you crawled back into the tent and also that you suddenly realized that there has to be another one very soon. Great tent with lots of great features and a great review from you who has really tried it in real life (the proof of the pudding is in the eating). A bit small for me I think. I mean drying out gear after riding in the rain for a whole day and still raining at camp. And also when staying more than one night in one place. I intend to try a somewhat cheap tipi tent on a 6-8 week summer trip in my country (Norway) this summer on my cruiser bike (mostly wild camping, maybe seek "emergency shelter" indoors in really stormy weather). And guess what: It has only one single pole, or even none if you can hang the top in a rope from a tree. I even have a small titanium wood stove for the tent and the tent has a stove jack for the stove's chimney. Not sure if I will take the stove with me even if it weighs less than 1 kg. It would have been nice for drying out wet gear, so maybe.

    Great video Saffy
That is the nicer of the two LoneRider tents, the other one has had too many issues with the doorway and being ripped by the wind etc...
Cost wise though, it is a ridiculous price for what it is, and that goes for the other tent as well, I have 6 tents, all for different purposes mind you, and I use to sell tents such as Terra Nova, TNF, Vango, Berghaus etc for expeditions, so I like to think I know what I am talking about when it comes to tents.
Great tent for touring on a motorbikes, the Vango Mirage Pro 200, as it is free standing, 3x poles, it all goes up in one go if you have the inner already connected to the outer sheet, and throw on a Vango Gear Store on the front and it has massive room, like for like and similar to the Vango Galaxy 300 which has become a motorcyclist favourite go to for a tent on a good price and great quality, as you can stand up in the front porch to change gear etc.
As a motorcyclist you are not required to have a triangle in Europe, this is only for cars, you are only required to have a hi-vis

Little tip for you when setting up in the dark.
Buy 4 small glow in the dark zipper pulls in two different colours.
Add one of each colour to each of the inner tent doors and another of each colour to the corresponding outer fly doors for each entrance.
Then in the dark, you just match the zipper pull colours together and you know you have it orientated the correct way.

A point on marketing wank: the aerospace industry has found a good use for nearly every grade of aluminium in existence. In fact, the bulk of those were invented for and by the aerospace industry. From the toughest, strongest structural alloys, to the softest and flimsiest, there's a use for it on an aircraft, therefore it's "aircraft grade". That is to say, the term "aircraft grade aluminium" is so broad and vague as to be completely meaningless.
It's worse even than "mil spec", which is the LOWEST standard to which something ought to be built. But at least it IS a minimum standard. "Aircraft grade" isn't even that.

Ha ha .Actually you can go wrong setting your tent poles and you did it 😂.The top two short ones go on top of the bigger center pole and that is because you dont want to put stress on that clear plastic pole connectors.

Has anyone ever seen one of these tent erected with anything approaching tautness? Whenever I see it on TH-cam the fly is as slack as a very slack thing. Also it’s overpriced. Plenty of just as good/better tents out there for a lot less cash. An exercise in marketing for the gullible.

@@SaffySprocket Hey! It's all good. It's not about the destination, but about the journey, eh!?
This time of year you can easily get away with a hammock and tarp. My hammock it's the size of a regular cup, weighs less then a bag of sugar and cost me £30. Just a suggestion!

Top grab handle isn't a handle, it's a dry bag roll top. Tent is a stupid idea for moto-camping, far too big and heavy packed with not enough room when up. Inner first is no good in bad weather. Naturehike Cloud/MSR Elixir are my go to backpack /wildcamp/moto camping. Both fit in a rucksack. Why would you buy one of these??

    • @SaffySprocket
