As someone who has played through all of XI's expansions and beaten A Realm Reborn, I can tell you that, without a doubt, you should play XI as well. XI's expansions are on par with the best of the mainline series. If Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess was a standalone game, it would be a top five mainline Final Fantasy. XI is by far the hardest mainline game, but beating it is very doable.
I will say ff14 does have some of the best storylines of the entire series, however it should be noted it doesn't truly get amazing until you begin the expansion storylines. Shadowbringers still being my personal favorite.
ITs a good time for a Single Player FF fan to start looking inti XIV as at this point as they are finalizing implementing a system called the Duty Support System that allows the vast majority of the Main Story content to be played Solo, this is regarding Dungeons that are 4 player content but for the main story now allow a party of NPCs for each instance ... Currently 4/5 of the Main Story dungeons are doable solo with this system and in a few weeks another chunk of the remaining will become such in the newest patch ... with in around 5 months the last remaining main story dungeons will be incorporated into the system .. Remaining are the Main Story Trials which are basically big Boss Fights that you need to do with 8 other players and a series of 3 Alliance Raid 24 man raid that are required for the story .... side content is still primarily party based ... but there is side content that can be done solo ...
The main reason is that I haven't played it yet, and I really want to play it soon. I don't want to spoil the experience by researching its story, gameplay, and other aspects for the video. I'm being selfish. ✌😂
Totally fine with you leaning into your own experience, but I've gotta recommend Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, if you've never played it and have a DS. Echoes of Time is good too but Ring of Fates story just HITS. All the characters were super enjoyable in my experience. Hope when you start FFXIV you love it!
The 13 trilogy is possibly my favorite final fantasys I platinum all 3 and in defense of 13 part 1 they were forced to make a new engine that suport 13 trilogy, the 13vs aka 15, 14, agito aka type zero ,as well as dragon quest 10 and so the game took alot just to start with HD graphics that's why first 13 is so much bigger they didn't know what they were doing yet and then director started to run out of time so he split it giving another guy a script with plots to connect towards the end and that's why snow trys his best to save Nora but still accepts that it's his fault later and is like I killed her I'm sorry Yada ya it's two diffrent peoples writing. But that's just extra tid bit that I learned not to long ago that I found interesting and hopefully people who try to get over critical can give it a little slack. Also the 7 remake is by the team that made 13 so 7 remake is closer to a 13 sequel that type 0 and 15 despite them suppose to be in the fabula nova crystallis games great. Video
I’d have to disagree with 7 Remake. It’s more a sequel than anything else. There’s some pretty theoretical lore surrounding it right now. But a lot of evidence supporting the theories. Also great video. P.S. another snub of Final Fantasy Explorers. 😂
Maby i am the 10th that say that but i am Missing something in there. Like the Gatcha Game waht i have never played but here so much good about it. And Obviously the Missing of Stranger of Paradise, i see you dont want to spoil your Self. But waht is with FF14 Online waht is in you list, you say you never played it but hearing it has good story.
That's because loads of people gave me grief for not throwing it in my mainline Final Fantasy video. No worries, though. If enough of you are sobbing and fussing about me leaving out Stranger of Paradise, I might just chuck it in sometime in the future lol
FFXIV ARR has a generic but good story. Once you get at Heavensward to Endwalker tho, you'll be able to experience some of the best worldbuilding, characters and story gaming has to offer
Nice video. You left out the Final Fantasy legend series from the original Game Boy. Like the Game Boy FF Adventure series it was just a re named other game. FFA was a re-named Mana series line and FFL was the SaGa series.
I played a lot of these games and I got the Platinum Trophy on all FF games I played (with the exception of X-2). At the moment I'm playing Strangers of Paradise and I can recommend it! Thinking about getting the PixelRemastered series afterwads, mainly because I started playing FF with FF VII and this would be my chance to experience the older titles as well....
Weeb is a much more accurate term for me 😁 "Weeb: term for a non-Japanese person who is so obsessed with Japanese culture that they wish they were actually Japanese."
I think the FFX-2's sad/normal endings are more thematic and on point with the rest of the games, and better narratively than the good/perfect endings. Which are a bit too fanservicey and handwaving logic for me.
I avoided XIV like the plague because of the fact that it was a failure at launch I started playing it this last August and i do not regret it the Blue mage is great... too bad you cannot play it from the beginning of the game and its not treated like a normal class.
Sorry to be THAT guy but the world of 14 isn't called Eorzea. That's just one of the continents u start with. The world has a name which I can't say without spoilers. Just wanted to share
Great video. Yeah I agree, FFX is not linear as you can always go back either by foot or airship. Plus, there are several village hubs with side quests, merchants and narratives. FFXIII is just crap.
@@EmptyHand49 X isn't as linear as XIII X has GREAT backtracking players just don't realize how many little things they're missing if they don't go back chapter per chapter
I've already discussed this in a comment in another video, and I'm just sharing it here. Made a mistake in the recording saying FFX is not linear, what Its meant to say is that it's NOT as linear as FFXIII. It does have some linear elements to it especially at the beginning parts but you won't notice it as much and here are some reasons (from my perspective) Here's how I perceive it: 1. Level design and exploration: In Final Fantasy XIII, a significant portion of the game consists of following a single, narrow path with limited branching or exploration options. and main gripe of many is that you can't go back to some places you've been before. 2. Linearity in story progression: Final Fantasy XIII's story is more linear, with the game's events unfolding in a strict sequence without many opportunities for deviation. Final Fantasy X, on the other hand, had more opportunities for players to pursue side quests and engage in minigames especially by the end when the world really opens up to let you do your thing. 3. Towns and non-combat areas: Final Fantasy XIII lacks traditional towns or non-combat areas (compared to X) where players can interact with NPCs, shop, or participate in side activities. This contributes to the sense of linearity, as players are often funneled from one combat area to another without much opportunity to pause and engage with the game world. 4. Customization and character progression: Final Fantasy XIII has a more streamlined character progression system, using the Crystarium to level up characters in a linear fashion. This is in contrast to the Sphere Grid system in Final Fantasy X, which allowed for more customization and player choice in character development. I hope I've managed to get some of my points across clearly.
@@thatpizzalesbian6984 I meant it isn’t linear in the sense that at most time you are given the choice to always backtrack and do missed side quests, not in terms of story progression since all RPGs are linear story progression. FFXIII, however, does not allow this since the game was designed more as an action-style game going from level to level with no option to return to previous areas which is why it was called a corridor game when it was announced. There was one level that does allow some free roaming but was limited in scope. FFXIII-2 fixed this with their time travel design allowing greater flexibility in selecting the level and IMHO is a far superior game to the original. Nostalgia? Perhaps, since it is admittedly my favorite FF game but I’m not blind to its flaws.
@@blastfromthepastgaming thanks and I agree 100%. This was the point I was trying to get across. At anytime during exploration in FFX you can backtrack then the game is NOT linear since you are not forced forward. As far as story progression then YES it is linear but that is true with most rpgs, even the open world FFXV since you must hit point B in the game before point C. If you want true non linear exploration and progression then try games like Might & Magic where there is no objective and you can play indefinitely.
I know crisis core has been out for ever but jfc I’ve had it spoiled by multiple TH-camrs now.. making my first play through that much less exciting smh
You would really love ff14, you should make it a point to try it out fam. I was once like you, not giving it a 2nd thought. Ff14 is definitely one of the best. I could easily give up all the others just for the one game , and thats saying something
Yeah, I am not a huge fan of MMO's or multiplayer games in general. And even with FF14 it's still something that holds it back from being my all time favourite. But I am so fucking glad I gave FF14 a try. Heavensward and Shadowbringers in particular have a very special place in my heart. I am so glad CBU3 are working on FF16, because I need some of that magic on the singleplayer side of the series as well.
I played battle hunter. It was one of those rare game that supported multitap control for PS1. My friends and I used to play Battle Hunter for hours on hours. It was so much fun and addicting.
Very innovative right? glad to know some people here also played and enjoyed it. The game never gets mentioned anywhere, just wanted to sneak it in the video a bit 😁
Great video but main line Final Fantasy (11 & 14) should be in your other video like you said. They are not spinoffs and do not belong here. They are mainline numbered entries in the Final Fantasy series and not to treat them as such is doing them a disservice.

Christopher Lambert's Beowulf is still the best one though.
