    I use a Hydro-Quip 5.5" Inline Style Bath Heater and an InkBird Temperature Timer with my Cold Plunge setup to keep it from freezing over in the winter. I was having issues with the heater & light not turning on and found that the Vacuum/Pressure Switch was faulty. How much pressure is required to set a switch off like this? I'm running a Danner 1200 GPH pump. Should this be enough pressure to engage the heater or does it even matter since it's hooked up to a Temperature timer anyhow? I'm planning on using the Tecmark 3902 switch you linked in the Description. Will the lowest flow setting work for my application? Thanks for your help. Your other video helped me diagnose what was wrong with it in the first place! Cheers

      These is 3 common pressure switches in hot tubs today. They all have a range of pressures, you just have to look at their description on what psi it's set for. But you can adjust them. I have a video on that also.

    How can you tell which side of the new switch to connect positive and negative? My old switch was configured differently.

    Plus I might add that six months ago I came home and everything had melted ...so I replaced everything and wiring the best I could without a diagram...everthing in there got burned up except for the pressure switch ....now im assuming maybe that's what happened is it got stuck on heat mode while I was away for 4/5 hours and that's what caused a fire... and like I said.. the heater is on all the time... that plunger is making contact at all times with it running with just water pressure running through it...
    Bad pressure switch??

      Pressure switch or relay or contactor was stuck closed.

    So I have an older hot tub.. like 20 years old.. there is no board to give digital codes... the problem is the heater has power to it at all times... the heater is only supposed to have power to it on low speed... when you use your air switch and turn it on high speed ..its supposed to click off the heater element... I find that with the hot tub running at all.. low or high... the plunger pushes against the whatever part in there.. so just the water pressure is pushing those contacts/plunger together....sooo the pressure switch is no good???... is that correct????

      The pressure switch or the contactor.. if it says on, it would go to at least 118f and trip the high limit.

      No. Gecko spa pack and some others have a pressure switch. Some have a flow switch, and most have just sensors.

      So if you have a flow switch you don't have a pressure switch?

    Hey I just got this switch and replaced it. Now the spa runs, but doesn’t heat anymore

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pressure switch is the thing that turns the heat on. If it's faulty, the heat will not come on. pull the filters and see if that works. if not, try adjusting the pressure switch a little to see if the "click" comes on. Its the relay clicking on for the heat.

      @@VIPPoolsandSpas I was told never to adjust pressure switches.
      Now I put the old one back and the heat works again.
      Filter is new. The reason I changed the switch was because I got a FL code and my tub would only turn on if I unplugged pressure switch or reset breaker

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Crlonghandlenot you can adjust them, thats what the screw at the top is for. They wouldn't put it there other wise. Its really just to test if its working or not. Its not like you have to turn it a full turn. never do that. lol. if you put the old one in and now it works, maybe something is hung up inside the heat tube? Blocking it? And. Never keep resetting the breaker. Have to find out the reason for the FL code. You might be getting a DR or DRY error code just before that? That will freeze the board and the topside. Sometimes.

      @@Crlonghandlenot those I dont like. Harder to take out, but at least you can see if its working. Theres a pin that pushes up and you can see if its up or down. easy to adjust. Adjusting it makes the pressure be little or harder. Normally its set for around 1-3 lbs of pressure.
