Mewni, Earth and all the other realms merged together kinda makes me think of Hilda, to a degree. Think of it, Hilda's world is a modern set human world that lives alongside magical creatures ans worlds. So, the world of Star Vs. has become something like that

I’ve got to say, in a sense this series finale episode feels open-ended. It was a nail-biter and I liked how Star and Marco turned out, but I think more could’ve been done on a few loose ends. The age of magic coming to an end with what Star, Moon, Meteora, and Eclipsa did together feels like the aftermath of Legend of Korra Season 2. The merging of both Earth and Mewni is interesting, but there should be more to it. How does that affect the two main characters and life on this new “Mearth?” EDIT: If a deal between Disney and creator Daron Nefcy can work out to create a follow-up TV movie (it worked before on other shows), that’d tie up any remaining loose ends. It’s a longshot and unlikely, but that’s just me.

Here’s how I personally would’ve handled the ending: When we see Star and Marco slowly walking to each other at the end of the episode, instead we have them shout each other’s names, run to each other, and tackle each other to the ground, embracing in a long hug with smiles and tears in their eyes. As they continue to hold each other, with smiles and tears in their eyes: Marco: “Oh my God, Star. I thought I’d never see you again!” Star: “It’s ok, Marco. We’re together now. Look, our worlds have merged together. Now we’ll never have to be separated ever again.” We then see a shot of the two worlds as one. Marco: “Glossaryck. This must’ve been his last trick. He knew this would happen.” Star: “Yeah. Clever Glossaryck.”. The two of them continue to hold each other, and start to look each other in their faces, still with tears and smiles. Marco: “But you were right about what you said in the Realm of Magic: “With or without magic.....” Star: “.....We belong together.” The two then lean into each other for a long kiss. As they continue kissing, the music kicks in, and the camera slowly pans up towards the sky, where we see airplanes and dragon cycles flying side by side. The camera then pans further up, ending the show with a shot of the Blood Moon. The screen fades to black, and the credits roll. And as the credits roll, we stay on one shot that shows Marco and Star on the ground holding each other and kissing with tears in their eyes, as we also once again see the Blood Moon in the sky, but with the image of Glossaryck inside the Blood Moon, smiling down upon Star and Marco. Boom. End of the show. Maybe we could get a 5th season where everyone deals with Earth and Mewni being merged together. Maybe Tom starts dating Janna? Maybe Jackie starts dating that one European girl from the episode “Britta’s Tacos”? Maybe King River and Queen Moon start having a peace treaty with the U.S. government? Maybe there’s still more wiggle room for a different kind of magic that we’ve never seen before, since Star and Marco created their own magic? While the magic may be gone, there’s still endless possibilities for Earth and Mewni being together, hinting at a 5th season.
Ah,"Would've" and "Should've"... the two best words to make sure you live an unfulfilled life, always yearning for more than there is. When there is always just what is. I like the episode just fine.

I respect all of your opinions, but I have to say, this finale was awful. Season 4 went so far downhill from season 3. The relationship drama was gross and ///predictable/// and the threat with Mina did not really feel high stakes compared to divide/conquer. Moon acted entirely out of character. Ending was definitely really forced and then how it was left open seemed more lazy than stylistic in my opinion. Plus, there were many cases of foreshadowing earlier in the show that never had any impact later on. I could go on and on about this. Pretty disappointing as I used to love this show :/
*shrugs* A car that is objectively broken doesn't work for anyone, no matter who tries to drive it. This season and finale worked for many. So all I can say is I feel sorry for you and I am glad my mind doesn't interpret the last season this way.
