- Here's the opening to another game in the Wing Commander series. From a technical perspective, this game is a bit of a step back from Wing Commander IV, at least for what you can purchase on GOG.com. The version they provide is ran with DOSBox. I found a community patch that allowed me to run the game as a Win95 game, but that meant running it in Windows 98 Mode as an administrator. It looks to perform better, so I guess I'll run this on Windows again. Anyway, here's the link to not only this patch, but several other WC patches:

Man, I played this game excessively back in 1997 when I had my first PC at the juicy age of 13 years. Scenery and acting are so cringe and have the quality of a telenovela but it was sooooooo good. One of the first bigger open universe attempts. Shamefully, not much later after Freespace 2, space simming became exactly the same niche object as flight simming.
Good lord I got this game shortly after launch as I LOVED the first Privateer and it's just as trippy and B movie grade cinematics as I remember but the graphics were next gen for the time considering its predecessor was one step above 8bit graphics. In retrospect, the cast was absolute FIRE, though they weren't given much to work with.
This brings back such memories!
I made a lot of the stuff in this game, sets, and ships, it was a big game. Ahead of its time due to Origin Games. I started making ships in the first 3D engine called EOR. The first of its kind. Good times.
Wow. That's quite awesome. Thank you very much for sharing!
Thank you for uploading this!
Thank you for watching. :)
Music by Ray Shulman! Gentle Giant comes to my mind and Azrael Tears game too.
"Nice try Rog. Nice try."
I wonder what he meant by this?
Holy graininess Moon Knight!
Absolutely. I really wish that they had given this game the DVD treatment that Wing Commander IV received, but sadly that isn't the case.
I'm trying to play this on my 1080 ti 11 gb video card but the fmv's all have lines through them, what settings did you use, to make the fmv clear?
I ran the patch found here:
www.wcnews.com/chatzone/threads/complete-wc-gog-fixes-and-tweaks.27176/
If I remember correctly, I had to set it to Win 98 mode to work. Might have had to run it in Admin mode as well. Other than that, it worked really well.
@@kilrathikiller I ran the patch and it made no difference, the game is still playable and the graphics are fine, just the fmv's have lines in them. I've minimized them a-lot but just can't get rid of them all together.
Hmm. Sorry. I can't think of anything I did differently off of the top of my head.
@@kilrathikiller It's all good
NTSC vs pal difference?@@biggiebear4451
Any chance you could post your AntimicroX configuration anywhere? Thanks
I tried uploading it to DropBox. Let me know if this link doesn't work for you.
