We continue onward in Wing Commandathon with a very very polarizing installment in the Wing Commander Universe. So lets take a dive 120 years into the future and see how Dark things really get.

I played privateer 2 righteous fire for so long on my the family osbourne pc. I missed this but am glad someone is still playing this franchise!
Glad you are here, yes I played almost all these games growing up. Not going to lie Privateer 2 was not up to the WC par but since I am playing through them all the poll I put out said I HAD to lol
Of all the Wing Commander games, this one has probably aged the most poorly, I believe it was never intended to be a Wing Commander title - it was just going to be 'The Darkening' - then at the last hour they decided to shoehorn it into the Wing Commander Universe, albeit very loosely. It's an interesting time capsule of when they thought FMV would be the future, but somehow original Privateer, which has 2D cutscenes and no FMV, still looks better and has much more character and replay appeal. Nevertheless this is a good 'Let's Play' and I'm grateful for it. Thank you for uploading.
I was with you until I saw you say the original had more character. Privateer 2 is oozing character! It's a shame that we'll never get anything else like it again.
@@matthewc877 That’s fair. I’d actually forgotten that I wrote this, it’s probably not fair of me to compare the two given how drastically different they are - you’re right though, P2 is full of character, it’s a much more atmospheric game than I gave if credit for in my original post.
the original privateer 2 had the best death screams. I wish somebody would extract the sound files of the screams because they are hilarious. Badguy: "no, no not like this....noooooooooo" *boom*

What retro PC are you playing this on? It jerks a lot in the space battles, especially when you get very close to the enemy ships. A Pentium 133 or higher is recommended. I have tested the game on my retro system with AMD K6-III+ 550MHz.
I am playing this on my Acer Nitro 5. It is not a retro rig. The game has been heavily modified and most of the ships are redesigns from the original game. Sorry if I lose cred here but no retro rig.
Maybe this a DOSBox speed issue. You can change the CPU cycle in-game up and down time with CTRL-F11 or CTRL-F12. Maybe this could help. I also had a lot of problems with lags/slowdowns with emulating MS-DOS, in special later DOS games on my modern PC.
Technically this is not in DOSBox either but I'll look into it thanks for the tips

this pc have no original audio ... real audio sound soooo much better in my pentium sound blaster machine
