    I’ve been a fan since “Waterloo” and my heart broke in 1982 when they split. My friends have loved them faithfully since day one. Many of those friends have passed on since 1982. We all desperately wanted them to reunite (there was a rumor in the ‘90’s that maybe). I wish those friends were here to hear. This is very emotional.

      Abba has brought so many people together with their music. So many generations have grown up with their music. I wish I was around during their active years, I was born when Agnethas "I stand Alone" album was released so I waited until 2004 when her "my coloring book" was released. I didn't have to wait as long as others but I love how their music goes on and on and new generations get to hear it. Never thought they would come back together

    • @mauricedorreboom5388
      @mauricedorreboom5388 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah ... I agree aswell. The only minor critic I have is the keyboard bass, would rather hear an actual bass like "Two Of Us". Also I recognize the feel of the songs they recorded as the original follow-up to "The Visitors". Songs like "Just Like That" and "Under Attack".

    • @user-cd3ld3dc7u
      @user-cd3ld3dc7u 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mauricedorreboom5388 looks like keyboard bass will be on the new album entirely. That's my guessing and that can be the only minor complain. Apart from that, the songs and performances will be top class - I have no doubt about that now.

      @aarhusnord 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Digital recording and modern instruments may give it the extra edge of technical perfectness, which the original batch of ABBA songs did not have. Like CDs versus LPs.

    • @aarhusnord
      @aarhusnord 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Eurovision GOLD. By Genlab. Well yes, in 1982 the CD player had been invented. And digital recording techniques. But to me, Arrival from 1976 (?) with the helicover is what defines ABBA the most. Dancing Queen, When I kissed the Teacher, Money money money. But I agree, the new tracks are very "The Day before you came"-alike.

    It is nice that they still have this ABBA sound, i mean you hear this song and it could easily be published directly after their last album if you don't know it is new you could think it is one of their old songs. I mean you hear that the voices are a little bit older but it is 100% ABBA. This is the thing i often times hate if musician from that time make new songs that they are extremly different and not really the style that you want, but this is great.

      All 8 of their albums are amazing. The first two are fun listens, with some great songs, but it's really their last 5 or 6 that show what masters and geniuses they are and became. Just great song after great song. Ring Ring is the first album, then Waterloo the second. Then ABBA, Arrival, The Album, Voulez Vous, Super Trouper, The Visitors. They also released "I am the City" as a song after they disbanded, along with You owe me one (which they said was more of a jingle and unfinished).
      Last year they released a 23 minute video called Undeleted Medley which contained many excerpts from unfinished songs strung together in the studio, along with them being mischievous and joking about, including singing Summer Night City (usually a great song) as terribly as they could. it's also worth a listen to - full of good sounds and music, even if unfinished.

      I agree, their first two albums are okay. "People Need Love" single was pretty good, they showed off their early vocals and lyric writing. I've always loved their dance songs but my very favourite are "When all is said and done" and "The day before you came" which are their later singles. Both are amazing and the lyrics from Bjorn and Benny get better and better throughout the years.

    • @Tom_McMurtry
      @Tom_McMurtry 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidpastuck7245 For me fun is different from okay, but without being great. There was a lot of interesting diversity in their too even if not all songs had depth. Songs like watch out, or my mama said are so very different, but engaging to listen to. Others like he is your brother is a groove even if simple. Something I like about the evolution of ABBA: He is your brother live in Australia is a fantastic one to watch live - so they managed to turn some simple yet fun grooves into great live performances still as well which is interesting.
      Then there are the really quirky ones, that sound fun, have less depth of lyrics, or are a bit too silly for many tastes. But you're still tapping along. Different from okay -> fun.
      But I also think it's fair to call the albums as a whole okay. Just my thoughts, and defs some great songs in there still too.

    The big global news of this 21st century for the music world is the return of the legendary Swedish pop group ABBA to the recording studios after more than 35 years (the last was "The day before you came") and the edition of his new songs after 39 years (the last was "Under attack") and a new album after almost 40 years (the last was "The Visitors")
    Beyond that these three data are for the Guines Book of records (I believe that No Group or Singer or Artist can come close to these incredible brands), the most remarkable thing is How they returned, with what level of quality And I must say that ABBA overcame all fears, doubts and expectations Their return is shocking and his quality is still valid
    "Don't shut me down"
    it's another surprise from ABBA
    A pop song was expected, but there were reservations and fears for what it could be (and here I include doubts to the voices of the girls due to their age) And we find a magnificent work
    The beginning is with Agnetha's voice attacking with the pleasant company of the piano. What Agnetha does in that introduction is anthology, exquisite modulating and using different nuances with her mature voice.
    Until Benny's signature piano glint (nod to the mega hit "Dancing Queen") and ABBA's typical pop song is with us, with the fans, because the lyrics speak to us.
    and Agnetha assumes that decoding of almost four decades and gives us her beautiful voice as the strings grow and lead to a memorable chorus with Frida reliving the historic third voice of ABBA
    But it doesn't end there, the second part adds hooks and a xylophone is added to the bells (a nod to the marimba in "Mamma Mía"), and the pre-chorus has more force with Agnetha and Frida and the violins anticipate the elevation to a chorus triumphant final anthology reminiscent of his greatest hits
    And it ends with a soft and sweet Agnetha voice and piano melody (nod to "Thank you for the music")
    Thank for your great reaction
    and for Your respect to ABBA music
    now wey waiting for the new album
    and see in next ABBA vídeo
    GOD bless You

    Have always been a Beatles fan (old enough to witnessed their beginnings). After they split I always hoped for a re-union. After Lennon's death that dream of course was over. Then I hoped for a re-union of the "Beatles of the 70s" ABBA. But all the years they always said no, thanks. They even declined that insane offer of 1 billion dollars for a world tour a few years ago. Never thought I would witness their come back. And happy they maintained their unique sound. Not bad at all for four 70+ Swedes :-)

    Since 1976 I have believed Dancing Queen is the best pop song ever written. Now I think that position may be taken by Don't Shut Me Down. You can hear all the ABBA trade marks in there. Dancing Queen piano glissando, the plodding almost reggae beat of The Day Before You Came, Benny's hard piano chords, when she sings "I have to say I'm glad" there is a riff from "If it wasn't for the nights". Every time I listen to it I hear another nod to their previous work. It was almost worth the 40 year wait. Can't wait to see them in May.

    i know very little about music but i really like this song.. if i rmb there is minor and major chord and each type of chord stands for sad tune(minor?) vs a happy tune(major?).. i think the front part of the song is like very happy tune to it very light and positive and orange color, then it transition to chorus where there is some transition through minor..? which is abit sad tune.. and blueish in color So it has abit of bittersweet vibe to this song. Love it.

      Abba have always had a way to bring out a happy sounding song with sad lyrics. Agnetha can really sing with emotion which she does a great job with this song.

    I like that you say that about 'My colouring book'. I thought I was the only one. It's the accent. Fantastic.
