How about reacting to the world's only vocal country band, Home Free. Don't let yourselves be fooled by the vocal country part, though, unless you've heard these guys before you have never hear anything like it. Like ABBA they have incredible harmonies and complex arrangements. They do mostly covers, but they sound like originals, but also originals, and they have a music video catalogue of well over 150 songs and well over 1 billion views on TH-cam. I recommend starting with their cover of Man of Constant Sorrow, from Oh, Brother Where Art Thou. It will, very likely, blow your mind and want you want more.

You did not comment on the brilliant lyrics.
It is both storytelling and symbolic for their return after 40 years at the same time. Also often using words you seldom hear in pop music, and filled with references to "the abbatars".

ABBA reuniting is one of the biggest news events ever to come out of the music business. I mean, this is HUGE. I'm trying to imagine what would have happened if The Beatles reunited while John & George were still with us, and I think this is right up there with something like that. Agnetha's name is pronounced closer to "Anyetta", although with a little extra Swedish oomph.

It definitely has the "ABBA" sound, which it should. It just happens to be ABBA. But what I think you missed in your reaction were the significance of the lyrics. It was MORE than a "nostalgic" ABBA song. It was a declaration of there determination to return to the "Music Scene". Makes the "catchy" tune much more than a "catchy tune". But sometimes it's easy to get caught up in a predetermined frame of mind, than to be open to deep interpretation. Although Agnetha stated clearly more than once to "have an open mind". Thanks for your efforts. Your reactions are always fun and informative.

The first song, "I Still have faith" is a song about the band members. "We can do this" and "we have each others back" sort of encouragement.
This song is directly to the fans. "Im not the same" as I was, please don't shut me down because of disappointment!
I think this was a wonderful way to re-introduce themselves to us!

The big global news of this 21st century for the music world is the return of the legendary Swedish pop group ABBA to the recording studios after more than 35 years (the last was "The day before you came") and the edition of his new songs after 39 years (the last was "Under attack") and a new album after almost 40 years (the last was "The Visitors")
Beyond that these three data are for the Guines Book of records (I believe that No Group or Singer or Artist can come close to these incredible brands), the most remarkable thing is How they returned, with what level of quality And I must say that ABBA overcame all fears, doubts and expectations Their return is shocking and his quality is still valid
    "Don't shut me down"
    it's another surprise from ABBA
A pop song was expected, but there were reservations and fears for what it could be (and here I include doubts to the voices of the girls due to their age) And we find a magnificent work
The beginning is with Agnetha's voice attacking with the pleasant company of the piano. What Agnetha does in that introduction is anthology, exquisite modulating and using different nuances with her mature voice.
Until Benny's signature piano glint (nod to the mega hit "Dancing Queen") and ABBA's typical pop song is with us, with the fans, because the lyrics speak to us.
and Agnetha assumes that decoding of almost four decades and gives us her beautiful voice as the strings grow and lead to a memorable chorus with Frida reliving the historic third voice of ABBA
But it doesn't end there, the second part adds hooks and a xylophone is added to the bells (a nod to the marimba in "Mamma Mía"), and the pre-chorus has more force with Agnetha and Frida and the violins anticipate the elevation to a chorus triumphant final anthology reminiscent of his greatest hits
And it ends with a soft and sweet Agnetha voice and piano melody (nod to "Thank you for the music")
    Thank for your great reaction
and for Your respect to ABBA music
now we have a brand album Voyage that is a worldwide success Now
    see in next ABBA vídeo
    GOD bless You

When a group returns to the music scene after being away for 39 years, the artists are going to put the wants of their fans 1st. All the ABBA musical hooks are there and the lyrics are tied to a tight storyline.
ABBA 'could' try to incorporate cues from modern artists but it would sound like a cheap downgrade and Benny would see no challenge is writing a composition using these simplistic songwriting techniques. Todays music is generally constructed by amateurs. We have very few singer / songwriters producing content these days (i.e. Dianne Warren, David Foster, etc.).

Thank god it's not a "banging" tune. There is too much noise and banging in the charts these days and not enough music. I still think it odd how so called music experts still believe ABBA is fluffy cloud candy floss. Their lyrics are actually deep and often dark, disguised by catchy melodies.

I thought the lyrics and storyline were very mature and poignant (as they are now in their 70s). A woman leaves her partner and feels she has had enough despite being asked not to leave. With time, distance, reflection, and new coping skills, she makes a bold move and shows up unexpectedly at his door making her case for a do-over. Her message succinctly reiterated in the coda of the song: ' I have learned to cope and love and hope is why I am here now'.
Nothing fluffy, nothing simplistic, and incredibly moving. This is what makes ABBA great. I think people forget their songs will now reflect adults in their 70s and this mid-tempo song sits well with me.

Personally I love both of the new songs, but it took me a few listens to get to the love stage for the songs themselves rather than just for the comeback. Both these new songs are musical masterpieces, though. The lyrics, so personal and specific to them, yet so relatable and so personal to me and to everyone who is aware that they've changed through their lives. These songs are about the transformation we all experience. The music is just pure genius, as ABBAs music often is. Anthems. Timeless. And so purely ABBA that is makes or hard for the mind to actually comprehend after it's been so certain for most of my life they there will never be any new songs from them.
Everything about this comeback is genial!
Thanks for reacting to it and if you think this is about 8v after this first listen you will very likely raise that number after another few listens. Go on. Be on the right side of history. 🥰🙏😏

You guys should try to include analysis of or the meaning of the lyric of the song and what it's addressing and not just music and voices only.
    Thanks.

      Thank you for the comment.
We are listening to this for the first time and trying to take in everything in one sitting.
When we go back to edit we do find things we miss or take more notice of the lyrics but its hard to try and get it all in one go without any preview or peeking.
We do at times do a lyrical break down of songs and have done a few of those.
      Thanks for watching.

The 2nd track is not like this at all. It's sung by Frida this time and totally different. You can still feel the Abba style though.

As for our score it was for the song and not ABBA, they are a 10/10, but the song was no "Waterloo", it was OK.

I am sure you really know your stuff but the interruptions are simply more than I can handle. I am sure it is me. I just wish reactors would take notes and perhaps refer back. To make conclusions about a song without hearing it all and understanding the lyrics, in my view does not allow a true reaction. But all of you guys do it and I am the one who keeps listening. Carry on. I will just try to deal with it.

Though it's not as if they have spent these last 40 years trying to perfect these songs.
They have written two musicals (Chess and Kristina från Duvemåla)
and had a lot to do with stagings of them in different parts of the world,
as well as becoming involved with the Mamma Mia-films,
and producing other artists, at least during the 90's,
and Benny has been very active with his BAO (Benny Anderssons Orkester)
touring and playing to a dancing audience (I don't think he's doing it for the money...)
with Tommy Körberg (of whom I hope you have heard - he is getting on a bit
but he is one of the best singers ever, I'd say, simply born to sing)
and Helen Sjöholm, who is a bloody good singer, too, and SO NICE
(which I happen to know from personal experience, because she offered me a hand
when I went skating, for the first time in decades, with my kids, on rather sketchy ice)).
