Steve, another c.o.e. would definitely be a better choice I think. You have to look into what kind of tight spaces that you'll be getting in to w/deliveries. Any of the c.o.e.'s that housed a 12V-71 to begin w/, would be great.Freightliner, Kenworth, or Pete come to mind.If you decide to go con- ventional, I'd shoot for a KW or Pete , maybe a 4300 I-H Transtar. Just make sure it was already set up for that engine with the plumbing & wiring to make it easier on you and your pocket book.

It's a GM DD 12V71. It belongs in a GM product. Stick with a CO like a Titan or Astro. As far as showing it off, can't see it with the cab down or hood (bonnet for you guys in the UK) closed. But, you better believe you'll hear it coming whatever it's in. On another note, the load on your trailer is starting to look like a super version of "American Pickers". Mike and Frank would be proud.

These were in a lot of cabovers of the day. See if you can get an old KW or Pete conventional. I believe the needle nose is way to skinny for this monster to go into. I cant wait to see what you come up with. I'm in the super heavy transport business so this is exciting for me. Check out Ol2stroke channel. He specializes in Detroits and has several really cool Peterbilt trucks cabover and conventional with Detroit's. I'd say throw it in something like a White-Freightliner COE, or even a conventional if you can find one, or just a regular Freightliner FLC. Only issue I can see with that is that I'm not sure if the old Freightliner conventionals like the FLC can fit an engine that size. Seen FLCs with 8V71, and maybe even 8V92 engines, but I've never really found anything on the web about one with a 12V71 in it.🤔

Freightliner FLC did have a 12v71 called the PowerLiner it can be identified by the oversized grill to fit the oversized radiator that was necessary

lots of 2 stroke detroits still in boats. sadly they are going away, people are finding it's cheaper to replace them with a 4 stroke dpf/def mutilation than to rebuild the old detroits.
heck, you can even find every make engine from before the def/dpf abominations came to be when you look at boats.

Out by Dresden , can’t wait to see what you end up putting that big ol GM V12 in ! Damn if I had the means I’d build older HD trucks on a regular basis, dragging heavy equipment doesn’t require speed so my old Mack DM800 with #65,000lb bogies fits like a glove. Mostly local.
