I got my first Scania action when I went on a trip with my StepFather from Melbourne to Sydney and back in the early 90s when he drove Mitchells Transport Scania. This was the days before the Cullarin Ranges were bypassed and my Stepfather virtually had that old Scania "sideways" through the Cullarin Ranges.....real rectum puckering stuff! Those Scanias can get up and boogie!

One firm that i work for 20 years ago get me a 143H with 450 marine engine can say lots of high end cars was curious why I tagd along with them . Use the tourqe and jump gears you be amazed what it does .

And you can hear them upfront long, long before they're even close. Like, literally miles away. But... Water-Methanol? Now *that*s insane.

I work at Scania since 12 years. Have you made sure the camshaft is not a Miller one? If so, replace it. The 500ish V8s generally have a Miller camshaft (early closing)

996hp 3441lb-ft OMG On a Cat or a Cummins you need a lot more power to get that torque, not to mention all the modifications you need to make.
To increase the torque, the piston must travel a bit longer inside the cylinder, but not by much, a half an inch or so.
