This is my "dream" text format. I've been waiting a long time for Crossway to do this format in a higher quality text block to use as my first rebind. The biggest problem with it is the lack of line matching. It is some of the most distracting bleed-through I've seen. But, it's been years now, and it doesn't look like Crossway is selling enough of these to invest in a higher quality version.
while this may not be the right Bible for me, listening to your observation is educating me on what I need to look for in my pursuit of my eventual purchase of a main Bible.
I've got a brown slim bible with a fancy design on the covers and 2 corners ribbon marker and more/most important it the bible has stitched pages designed to last for a long time naturally I will not be highlighting in here i have a lovily notebook from wilkinsons for my bible notes💝💖❤🧡💛💚💙💜🖤📓🍨🍕🥤🍟🍔😀😁😅😄😡📓👍
Cambridge ESV Topaz bibles are Verse-by-Verse, red letter text. References and translated notes are actually readable. Beautiful French paper, thin and maybe fragile but seriously nice. Definitely a premium bible (at a premium price). I tried the Crossway VxV, returned it within minutes, the cover needed gluing yet it was a brand new bible, completely with that eye watering factory smell that can’t be good for you - the paper looked like rubbish recycled paper.
I own this bible, I struggle with upgrading because I want double column, verse by verse as a must. But also would like to have stitching on the cover, 3 better ribbons, and art gilting isnt a must really. But I cannot find what Im looking for so...my thoughts are to find someone who m, if can be done, add the stitching to the cover, replace ribbons with 3 or 4 ribbons...and I think I would be content with that for awhile. Unless you know of an ESV that would meet these requirements? Thanks for any info....
And it is glued not stitched. No matter how nice a bible is such as RL Allan bibles, they will not last as long at a stitched perimeter bible like Cambridge bibles and Schuyler bibles. I have many Cambridge, Allan, Crossway , Schuyler bibles and I use many of them each and every day especially my KJV Cambridge Concord Reference edition bible black goatskin. Perfect size bible.
When I said stitched, I was referring to the text block.... But I do agree with you that cover with a stitched perimeter will hold up and last longer than those without a stitched perimeter.
Crossway Bibles are so over priced IMO. This Bible is not worth $150. Not without stitching on the cover. And that text block, well, not great. Thomas Nelson's quality over Crossway is just so much better and much more cost effective. Too bad Thomas Nelson couldn't print the ESV as well as the KJV and NKJV.
I think we found our resident KJV Onlyist. But for those wanting an actual answer, in the notes at the bottom in ESVs (and similarly in the NIV and NASB) it says, "some manuscripts insert verse 21: 'But this kind never comes out except by prayer and fasting.' "
Is it a chalky feel or more smooth?
Thanks for the review. Always interesting to learn how they compare with other bibles.
I need that bible!!!

Is the size comparable to the Thinline Quentel and the ESV Wide Margin Reference Bible?
Appreciate this review. My only question is what publisher has a better “Verse by Verse” ESV bible ?

We need that verse-by-verse! All the old school KJVs are VBV
Excellent review. Insightful and helpful. Thanks.

I’m waiting for Crossway to release an Heirloom goatskin of this bible and the NCR as well.
It’s interesting that Crossway has not updated all of their bibles to the 2016 text.
Your review was really helpful. Good job.

Btw do you still do monthly bible giveaways?

How is the ghosting and line matching?
The ghosting is not too bad and it is line matched.
I like this Bible
Is this single or double column bible?
Double. There was a single column verse by verse produced by crossway prior to them going to the double column format.
This guy cant get enough bibles
There a lot of verses missing, I don't understand how its verse by verse
Wait, what do you mean, verses missing? What verses are missing? Must have been a misprint?
@@Yesica1993
Matt. 17:21 is one of the them
