    Wow, great vid. The info was so useful, I stripped my entire 4000' boat with this method!

    Really glad you showed this, it gives me hope I can redo and strip the paint from my sailboat 👍👍💚⛵

    That was great. I used this stuff. It sat on a shelf for 9 years and still worked like new.

    Thanks for posting this! I only need to strip 1 coat of paint from the rudder of my sailboat. I am guessing that a quart would do it... Do you agree?

      A quart I would guess would be enough for just a rudder. I bought 2 gallons for this 16 ft boat, but only went through about 1.25 gallons. I also really globbed it on. Just make sure to give it some time to sit but cover it so it can't dry out.

    Hi Joseph ...need advice from experts like you please. Can this stripper removes new antifouling on a new boat without damaging the gelcoat. And what are the process after that to get the hull and gelcoat as new as it was without losing the gelcoat thickness. Keep in mind the boat will not be painted with antifouling once removed. …Thanks

      I'm no expert, this was the only time I did this. This stripper can easily remove the paint without damaging your gel coat. But that was not my goal here. I lightly sanded after scraping to remove any remaining bits of paint and then repainted the bottom. I'm guessing if you took your time, you could just use the stripper to get it fully back to the gel coat. If you stripped off the majority with what I showed, im thinking you could just put some stripper on a rag and buff away the remaining bits of paint that was left during scraping.

    This is great. I have to do this to my boat since I’m moving it from fresh to salt water. How long did it take to strip the entire boat? How long is the boat? What we’re the next steps? What did you apply after stripped?

      It took me a weekend to strip it. If I had been focused on just this I could have done it in half a day, but my boat is only 16 feet. I never did finish this boat, but next step is to sand remaining paint down. That got mine down to gelcoat. After that you can begin following the instructions for the paint your applying. The most tedious part was putting the plastic cover on after applying the aqua strip so it didnt dry out to quick. But that's a very important step since it gives you more time to come back to strip, especially if your boat is large. If it dries out, it doesn't do a good job of stripping.

      @@joezappie Awesome thanks. Bummer that you never finished the boat. I guess Ill hit it with 80 grit after, clean and re-coat.

    Citristrip gel used in the same manner yields similar results.

    how many containers did you have to use? And what size container?

      I went through just over a gallon for the 16 foot boat.

    Also... did you still have to sand afterwards?

    • @joezappie
      @joezappie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, to get it ready for paint you'd still want to sand a little. The scrapper gets off the bulk but its not worth the time to scrap off every little bit.

      What doesn't look strong about it? This boat only weighs 600 lbs and they are more than enough. Been on those stands for years and I've walked around on my boat on it no problem
