- In this video, I use a combination of TotalBoat TotalStrip Stripper and Soda Blasting to remove the Bottom Paint from my Boston Whaler Dauntless. It's along task, but absolutely achievable by a DIY inclined boat owner.

Gday mate those soda blasters are a good piece of kit i used mine to clean a lot of the water galleries in the head .head cover and block of calcium on my 40 hp when i had it stripped down even cleaned the carbon of the pistons, the beuety is they do very little if any damage to the work piece and for a very small amount of money i rekon it is well worth it in time and effort . I have the unenviable job of sanding the whole boat top bottom and sides to restore it , the joys of a resto take care.
Yes they are! I'm glad that I bought that one, I'm sure I'll be using it more.
Won't lose any hair protecting that head with them safety glasses...... joking aside, great job! its a very informative video. Thank you for your time!
What hair? Lol. Your welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
Quite surprised it was able to blast off even down to the next layer in spots but does no harm at all to the gelcoat above the waterline??
I was surprised that it could take the epoxy barrier coat off. Apparently gelcoat is much harder than barrier coat.
Will this remove the Gel Coat also?
Nope, shouldn't touch it
Have you tried using a pressure washer to remove the Total Strip and paint instead of scrubbing?
I have not but will try that on my current project when it gets warmer. Otherwise I might be shooting icicles at the gelcoat 😂
@@ExtremeDIYGuy I'll check back or with fingers crossed I'll be on the hard soon and let you know when I try.
After everything thaws out.
@@markandrade7547 did this work well?
