@ Venus...I was at 2 of his concerts in the fall of 1988!! You missed the BEST LIVE PARTY performer!!!! He & his band rocked the house harder that any other performer even Prince (no disrespect) Every person who came out of the concert was drenched in sweat!!!! The way he mesmerized the crowd,...You just had to dance your ass off to his music!! That’s the truth!!!!
I was there at this concert. At the time, I was the Night Manager at the Ramada Plaza Hotel where the band stayed. Roger had a room but didn't stay over. I got autographs from all the members of the band. That was a day, I'll never forget. RIH Roger RIH Larry
Roger started playing in Rantoul Illinois at Chanute Air Force Base they used come on a regular before making it big We miss you and your brothers RIP Roger and Larry😢
At the height of his fame I saw Roger Troutman f/Zapp live in the mid 80’s at a small club in Long Beach California with my boyfriend at the time Roger and the band were absolutely fantastic he sang to me and a few other ladies individually during the show and gave us all a rose and kissed our hands omg he was soo fine but my bf was pissed off he actually got mad at me I was like dude really it’s a fn concert 😂I was unbothered af that concert was lit his son sang as well and his family showed out it was truly the best concert I attended at that time. Rest in heaven Roger ❤️🙏🏾
Don’t blame the boyfriend, that’s how you know when you have a weak girlfriend that you can’t trust. If she freaks out over a brief encounter with a celebrity she will do the same with some dude that approaches her when you’re not around.
If they are recorded on video, Can you Please put them on TH-cam 🙏🏽 I was 5 when my mom and Uncle Roger were on stage, it'd be amazing if I got to see more classic videos of Roger performing 🙌🏽💯
Roger and Larry used to buy the shoes the group wore from us, sometimes we would take them to his house, he had a very modest home with a studio. It wasnt a million dollar home or anything 200-250k at best. Sometimes he would come in the store n just kick it, killin time. It was a small high end shoe boutique
He died a week before I turned 11. I remember Tom Joyner announced it on his show and then played the last live performance Roger did for one of his events (probably that Fantastic Voyage cruise he always did). I didn't recognize the name but as soon as he played the music (it was a live version of Computer Love) I knew immediately and I was stunned. He was and still is one of my biggest musical influences and I remember being bummed that I'd never get a chance to see him live or meet him. I was blessed enough to be able to shake his brother Terry's hand years later in 2007 when the band came to Michigan. Such a tragic and pointless loss.
I was on the way to school when I heard that Roger Troutman was killed and I was in shocked and I was in middle school when he was killed by his own brother. Freaking Cain. He may be gone but his legacy and music will live on forever. REST IN PEACE ROGER TROUTMAN. GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE.
I was on my way to school too when Tom Joyner announced. I didn't recognize the name but as soon as he played the music I remember thinking "You gotta be kidding me!". RIP
I loved Zapp and it hurts to know that Roger's life was taken from him and his magnificent gift was stolen from the world. I love reminiscing when seeing these videos. But.......I'm heartbroken. 😔💔🙏🏽
This definitely wasn't his last show cuz he came to fort valley state university homecoming fall of 98' and I picked listening to Prince play the bass interpolation on 777-9311 on the Palace of Tears bootleg CD over going to see Roger live that night and probably missed out some cuz the only image that they posted on the university website was him playing the guitar while walking through the crowd.
Roger was going to leave the group permanently, larry was stealing. I ran a store in Dayton we wouldnt even take checks from Larry, he was "kiting" checks. Larry would put you in the mind of a Don King type dude. Sheisty
Nah. According to Smokey Robinson, due to Marvin’s excessive cocaine use he had grown sooo paranoid that he thought “everyone” was, “out to get him”. If you read Marvin’s biography “Divided Soul” you’ll get that side of the story. TH-cam will never fully inform you.
Roger was still performing as late as 1998, maybe early 99. This is like when folks thought that Tom & Jerry cartoon where they awaited for a train to hit em after their girlfriends dump em was the last cartoon when it was far from it.
This is just my opinion but I'm wondering if Roger fired his horn section which I think included Larry and that's what led to his brother shooting him. I saw them live twice and they had one of the baddest horn sections, then after that I saw them and they had no horn section. Maybe that was te cause of the fallout. Like I said, that's just my opinion.
He didn’t create it but he certainly perfected it. Peter Frampton had a huge hit called “Do You Feel Like We Do” back in 1972 using auto tune. No doubt that inspired Roger and he took auto tune to another level. It was called a talk box in those days and it really started with the Wawa peddle that was attached to the guitar, the manufacturer just used that technology and attached it to a microphone.
God, I wish I could have seen him live. I was only 7 in '99 when he died, but Roger has always been one of my favorite artists. RIP.
Venus Se7en He had a Talented son Roger Jr who co founded Mint Condition.

Roger wasn't innocent by all accounts but he didn't deserve to be murked by his brother very sad to know

Funny how fate falls in your lap. My son is the youngest cousin to Roger Troutman. May he RIP. Family resemblance is uncanny.
This is dope. Any one has a copy of this full show or know when u can get?
He died in 99. This couldn't have been his last concert
Real Man Real Music I promise you I miss him
When he was in Youngstown at the record I was the first in line and got to kiss his ,don’t know how he kissed after me but it was nice. RIP handsome.
Any knowledge on what he's like in 🛏️

Amazing!! That Do Wa Diddy took me back to when Sounds of Blackness sampled this song!!!! Hold on Change is Coming!
This might have been YOUR last time seeing him but this definitely wasn't his last performance. Roger died in 99. You shouldn't mislead in your title
I was gonna go see him live but for what ever reason I said “I’ll catch em next time “ that next time never came. Do like Nike y’all, just do it!
Amazing video, thanks for uploading brother. Why Larry why???? Today's Roger's 24th death anniversary

Breezin’ by George Benson
He stepped on alot of people to get where He Was! Whatever RIP
He Deceived George Clinton, and ALMOST destroyed one of the Greatest Black Acts ever in American Musical literature art.
@@ericthompson9970 how did he deceive George Clinton? Just curious
Didn't his brother kill him because he felt he abandoned the family business in pursuit of music in Hollywood?

How did he die, was it a drunk driving hit and run or something??
