A Gorgeous Handcrafted Bench For A Special Customer!

- In this video, Zoe and Trey are building an Eastern Red Cedar bench for a customer out of the customer's wood. The customer had an old cedar tree cut down on his property and wanted the wood turned into a bench for the end of his bed. The dimensions of this bench ended up being 50" long, 18" wide and 21" tall. The finish was a 2 part clear coat urethane spray finish. Nice work on the construction but as a finisher I would recommend better spray work. Gloss is not the right sheen as it shows up all the orange peel from either too thick (not thinned enough) material or improper air pressure. In the future try a medium rubbed effed or "soft" sheen. If your looking for a fast thick finish, try a combination of ML Campbell's catalized "Level Sealer" and ML Campbells catalized "Krystal" It's a much better look. Keep up the good work guys. Love your videos!
I prefer a rubbed semi gloss clear finish on benches and tables as well. It just seems to stand up to the use and abuse better than a glossy finish.
Beautiful job, Tray. The only thing that I would have done differently is book match the top. I think that would have been an extra special touch. 👍

That's a Beautiful Bence I made a table top out of cedar 18in × 45in x 2in thick when I worked at a cedar mill 25 years ago an I still have cedar is Beautiful it's on my dresser an my big TV is on it...

It is much easier to clean off the excess glue while it is still wet, than to wait until it is dry.
Thanks for showing an actual woodworking project instead of just sawing slabs, and cutting firewood.
Great to see you guys making stuff. I was just thinking about this the other day. Do you know how to make and use bow ties for securing cracked places in lieu of glue. Show more projects.
