- I had mixed emotions about coming back to the UK. When I was last here, I was struggling mentally, so I was worried about returning and those memories rushing back in.. but my UK trip has got off to a good start!

I can relate to coming back to home turf and having mixed feelings.
Seeing loved ones and also realising how much has changed and what has remained exactly the same, I believe it is a sign that one has evolved, so you get the "old you, new you " vibes .

Many Sri Lankans are not able to comprehend the fact that Lucie has a "home country" to go back to and is a citizen of a country of which the passport is highly valued and recognized. That means she can move freely to any country on this planet at anytime plus she does not have to worry about returning to UK because her country will treat her the way a human being should be treated and she is protected by law in her country where the law applies to all equally. It is so sad that many Sri Lankans are unable to think logically and use that thing called "common sense" to know the difference between Lucie's interest in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankans who are eagerly waiting to leave a country that is infested with corruption, that can be considered as one of the most corrupt countries in the world, a country, where human beings are treated like dust, no value for human nor animal life, no respect for another human being, women do not feel safe, people gossip endlessly about everything and anything, people are so dishonest, most Sri Lankans are short-sighted and they don't have any knowledge about how a civilized society should function. Moreover, many Sri Lankans constantly critisize others just for the sake of criticizing and draw conclusions illogically (as shown in the comment above and by the profile named Raj Warnakulasuriya, who apparently misunderstood and misinterpreted the comment I wrote ) about issues and people which in turn leads to them forming wrong ideas and huge misunderstandings about many things. It is so natural for any human being to want to leave an unsafe, bankrupt and corrupt country like Sri Lanka and find a safe haven in another country because their birth country does not protect them. I am surprised that some Sri Lankans have lost the ability or never developed the ability to differentiate between a Sri Lankan who is suffering in a politically, economically and socially broken country and a British citizen who possesses a solid passport and does not have to worry unlike the average Sri Lankan, who does not even have basic human rights. I am a Sri Lankan (female) who left SL 30 years ago and I am no longer a citizen of SL. I am so glad I did. I encourage Sri Lankans to leave that country because it is impossible to change many Sri Lankans' way of thinking plus the political situation is a very vicious cycle in a country like Sri Lanka that will continue to keep the majority of its citizens poor and helpless, while the corrupt politicians, their families, friends and supporters get rich. I don't have words to express how I feel about the present situation in SL and what Sri Lanka has become 30 years after I left the country. This is the longest comment I have ever written and I felt compelled to reply because of the ridiculous ways some Sri Lankans think, compare and look at things as black or white. 😰😰😭😭😭🥺🥺
@@clairechloe5294 ....what you like and dislike is based on your own choice/s , it doesn't mean that you are right or wrong, just your own opinion, it may or may not mean much to others....each individual is different, and they experience things differently..... your definition of civilization 🤔 huh😁🤣........ corruption is everywhere all over the world from top to bottom, it's just that you may not have experienced it in your back yard, there are more corrupt people in England than in Sri Lanka, British are not only corrupt, they are sly too ( eg. Tony Blair is one of those and for your information the whole British Empire was created by looting and introducing corruption to heads of other nations). Don't assume it exist only in places like Sri Lanka.... each nation has its own culture and traditions, don't expect everyone else to live up to or down to your standards or expectations, it just shows your inadequacy and ignorance......

Waited for this, and it took me one and a half days to complete watching it this time, with my four year old grandson hovering about, wanting to play.... :). Heard the tears in your voice when you spoke to Lahiru, and the heartache is palpable. I can surely relate to this experience.
Thank you Lucie and Mom for sharing your beautiful rural setting with us. Where England is proud of their farm life and organic food, SriLanka is further rushing to a really backward setting, where they don't appreciate the rural communities and have not done much to empower their effort or skills. The tranquility around your environment is so refreshing and calming. Loved the vegan spread in the supermarket. How lovely, if we had all that here! We have so many resources to have vegan corners in shops and supermarkets here with so many communities living in SriLanka.
Lahiru, hang in there Son, she'll be there in your arms, with so much love and gratitude. YES I CAN RELATE TO WHO YOU HAVE BECOME at the end of two and half years here. I am glad you went to England, even though you have been uncertain of what will happen, to discover the new you! I really felt this and experienced it. My ex was from UK too. I know what I've been through while i was applying for the visa just for a month holiday . It really put me down. Even now days i travel alot, im a chef we learn by exploring. Visa processing is the hardest thing. Example. next year im trying to visit paris for a petivier training so litterely i have to apply the visa from. Next month just to make sure things go well. Hopefully things would go well for those who face the similar issues🙏🙏. Prayers and good to see such a bond you guys developed during these hard times. Much love♥️♥️♥️♥️
