And that right there is hands down the best FW MiG-29 video to date, and probably the best flying too, well done guys!
:D
Wow, thank you Jandro! I guess I got a bit lucky with the special yellow background lighting during Jan’s second flight. It really made this video pop out! Cheers😁
Thanks 😎 Boring flying imo, but for a maiden, that's a good thing 😁
@@janmb It's slow, maneuvering flying, where most just hit open throttle and send the jet around in circles.
You know what I mean ;)
you didnt see JVRC vid then. haha.
@@JohnVHLife Which one? Link? :D
Brilliant flight. Fantastic camera work. Thanks.
Thank you, much appreciated 😊
Tailerons :-D!! yess!!
Always :D
Hello, very nice flight in beautifuls colors !!!!!
Great video!!!!and super scale flight!!!
this thing sounds so good
This video is awesome
Thank you 😁
Excellent videography, beautiful flight!
Thank you 😁👍
Nice plane...great flight...good job
Thanks :D
What a wonderful flying site, and beautiful country.
I put the MIG on my want list.
Thanks
Thank you, it is on my want list as well 😁👍
Wonderful video! I've been following a thread where folks are having issues with crashing and suspect mechanical factors to do with the stabs - but - here we have this video to totally refute the whole issue because the model is under full control 100% of the time . . . especially during a gear-down, flaps-down, throttle-up go around. Fantastic!
Thank you😊 Keep in mind: There has been a few seemingly unexplainable crashes on this model since launch. Though most models have not crashed, there is a video out there which shows that for a special case it is possible that airflow may get directed in such a way that the horizontal stabilizers gets bent down assumingly leading to a crash. Until we get it from official sources I would be careful pushing the limits on this model. Using just the right amount of flaps in a hard dive is probably a factor that may have caused a few crashes. We don’t know yet, and I’m sure the manufacturers are looking into it as we speak. The model is just fine as long as you don’t force it into the bad situation.
Thanks!
But please don't be confused. This video in no way refutes those problems. There's no high energy, flaps down flying here at all - only slow gear passes. During turns with everything extended you need a fair bit of throttle to maintain the same speed - but the speed is fairly low during those landing laps really
Reinforcing elevators, mounts, rods, servos and leads is definitely something I would recommend
Awesome footage 👍👍
cam you do more Fpv? that is so cool
Good job bud! 👍🍻Beautiful backdrop! I am trying to decide between this jet and the F 22 raptor. I have the 80 mm A-10, two free wing 90 mm F 16’s, and the E flight SU 30, A new gun, or ammunition
eloading supplies. 🤷🏼♂️ Decisions decisions!
Привет! Красивый самолет, красивая природа! 😁👍
Спасибо 😁
That is by far the best video I have seen on the Mig 29. Look really scale and video was excellent
Well done pilot and camera man
Thank you so much for your comment, Christopher Wise, cheers! 😁
Thanks :D
Agree, fantastic. Especially the fall tree's showered in sunlight in the background makes the MIG look soooooo good.
That’s what I thought as well. Thank you, Tim 😁
Awesome MIG 29 Video. Tommy you have Mad Skills with that video camera.
Thank you, Simon Bartlett. I really appreciate it. Cheers! 😁
Wow!! Beautiful flying and camera work.
Thank you 😁👍
Thanks!
Bravo!
Beautiful video, very nice framed!!! And Jan that was awesome ! Congrats guys 🥰 🇳🇴
Thank you, Arthur-RC, cheers! 😁
Merci beaucoup Arthur
@@janmb bare hyggelig 😉
@@ArthurRC Jo takk for det. Men da blir spørsmålet: Brukte du Google translate? :P
@@janmb arf I can’t copy your answer to paste in translator...😕 what did you say?
Smooth and graceful flying! Great video as well! And the colors were amazing!
Thank you, Tim 😁
Thanks :D
Wow, this is a awesome Vid....👏👏
Well done... 👌
Thank you, Marius Marais 😁
Thanks :D
Very nice flight ! I love mine too. Great flyer !!!
Thanks 😊
Always love you guy's work. That landing was mesmerizing.
I know, right? That landing really blew my mind 😎Thank you LBair 😁
Thanks 😁
Woow this is very nice' Can you give me the name of the camera above the plane?
Thank you 🤩 The onboard camera is called RunCam 2. The ground footage is shot by a camera which info you can find in the video description. Cheers! 😊
@@RCTommy Thank you very much ❤️ I'm from Saudi Arabia, nice to meet you ☺️
Very nice flight! Great camera person and editing as well!
Thank you 😁
Thanks 😎
Great video...lovin this Mig, thanks for sharing 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Great flying!
Thanks mate
Wow this was super nice what a ride.
Good work Tommy 👍😁
Thank you 😁
Thanks :D
Nice flight and nice on-board video. Btw I´d like to know about the on-board camera. You did not show its installation on the plane before the flight I think it would be interesting too.
The camera is a RunCam 2 (orange). It is mounted on top of the canopy using velcro tape. Cheers! 😁
NON PLUS ULTRA !!!! GREETINGS FROM MEXICO CITY
Thank you😁
Nice flight! Is the plane stock? Or you changed some electronics?
Upgraded elevator servos and links, otherwise stock
Love the Mig-29 from Freewing. After watching your video it's made me want one even more. Just wish they would become available to order from Motion rc.
As always, great video and flying!
Thank you, Johan 😁 Your videos are great as well😎👍
Takk takk 👍
The Mig is trul a beatiful model. Seems to be flying better then the Gripen aswell. I did get to see the awsome VQ Twin Otter as well. This video has it all! :D btw. How do you manage to get the videos so crystal clear all the time? :D
Thank you, cofyr! 😁 The secret to sharp shots is to have a high quality camera with a super fast auto focus (it must be able to keep focus while zooming). The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2000/FZ2500 is what I use. Learning to do color grading and gamma correction etc in post processing really helps a lot. It takes a lot of time though, but totally worth the effort when I get so much nice feedback.
PS: A full video of the yellow VQ Twin Otter from that day is coming up next week on my channel 😁
Thanks. The MiG does indeed fly very well and has a huge envelope. Just some issues with a weak tail section / elevator that needs reinforcement, otherwise brilliant
Hard to compare with Gripen though. That is an extremely capable platform as well
Check last half of this video for a good demo: th-cam.com/video/iK8pppgVmRU/w-d-xo.html
Solid flyin. As far as vid quality, man looks like the mach loop scale vids. The lighting and depth of those trees. Fun to watch
Thank you, Brandon E. Cheers! 😁
Thanks :D
Nice flying
Thank you :D
Thank you guys for these videos You posted this week. First Gripen, and now this awesome Mig.
You really don't make my hobby cheap. I think I have to order Mig to next season.
Great flying and great 📹
WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE...
Haha, I’m glad I can help with your priorities 🤣 There will be more videos soon, thank you Timo 😁
Круто, спасибо.
Nice camera work Tommy!
Thank you, Victor 😁
Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Calm weather and steady hands on my camera. Shame the sunlight is almost non-existing this time around, but hey... I think it looks great! Cheers!
JanMB: Thank's for the onboard footage, it looks NICE!
@@RCTommy No problem. Unfortunately the camera doesn't like to be cooled down too much, so shut down mid-flight.
Also kinda funny to see how the gyro adds adverse rudder input during the first few turns (because my left hand was busy trimming elevator instead of using my rudder properly)
I enjoyed watching. Hopefully my maiden tomorrow 11/8/20
Good luck with your maiden flight 😁👍
Congrats on your maiden Tim - looked good :D Love the sound system too
Beautiful camera work Tommy. This is Kongsberg? Good job flying her sir!
You are correct😁 Thank you, Nick 😎
Thanks :D
Great video and fantastic flying! It looks like your aileron throws are a bit lower than the recommended throws in the manual. I'd love to hear how you set them, what CG location you are using and the elevator trim. It seemed really well set up! Congrats!
Thank you 😁 I’m sure the pilot (Jan Berg) will comment with his preferred CG and throws when he’s ready to do so. Cheers!
Thanks :D
Honestly not sure about the throws, I typically just eyeball it, with three dual rates for roll and pitch on separate, three point switches, placing my best guess in the middle, leaving one higher and one lower.
In this case, I'm sure my ailerons are a bit more moderate than book. I moved those rods in one hole on the servo side for better resolution as well - since I didn't need half as much throw. I also use tailerons, so a lot of the roll authority comes from the tail.
CG in these flights were approx 16 mm aft of the marks. Elevator trim ends up about 5 mm higher on the leading edge than book calls for. (4ish mm above the lower edge of the fuselage side, vs 1 mm below it as the book calls for)
@@janmb Perfect and thank you. I'm dialing mine in as I get more flights in and I'm tending towards the settings you just shared. I too have triple rates on the ailerons and have been flying with only 80% of the book aileron throws (which are high) and with 40% expo. Elevator trim is about 3mm below my bottom fuse (vs 1mm) and my CG is probably about 10mm back right now and I continue to work my way back. No tailerons yet, though I could see that coming. That explains your lower aileron throws though! Now I understand.
@@P51Dfan Yeah, when running tailerons you typically want to reduce some of the roll authority from the main wing, otherwise you end up with too much.
I believe I run 40% expo on roll/pitch too, and a bit less on rudder. This model has surprisingly sluggish rudder response I have found, so may end up removing rudder expo altogether.
Tommy I really like the autum style video, it really makes me want to come for a trip to Norway.
Jan, are you starting a new kind of sport : rc jet lifting ?
The master Kiss Landing is back ! Even the bonus landing is better than 90% of my landings !
It looks nice😁 Thank you! Funfact: The bonus landing was actually from the maiden flight (don’t tell anyone) 🤣😁👍
Thanks :)
And yes, the bonus landing (all shots with the orange runcam) are the actual maiden.
hi, rc tommy i've looked alot at mig 29 and this is the video
Thank you, Desmond Gillam. I’m sure the next version of this model will be a great buy once it hits the market. Cheers!
Thanks Tommy
Красавчик очень красиво!!!! Жду свой
Спасибо 😁
Спасибо, удачи с твоей!
Brilliant work Tommy! amazing how the colors pop in this video. I hafto get me a better camera one off these day. If i can do half as god as your videos i would be super happy.
Thank you, Frode! I can’t wait to shoot one of your planes again soon... And I’ll gladly help you pick the right camera when ever you are ready to upgrade😁
When was the epic part? I cant find it..
I guess the term "epic" is somewhat relative, huh? What would you expect from an epic maiden flight? A crash? Fire? Firework? Please enlighten me so I can make an effort on the title next time around 🤔🤷🏻♂️
I'd say the autumn colors bathing in the sun from 5:12 onward are indeed pretty darn epic :P
where is this location? I want to fly there
It's located 15 minutes south of Kongsberg, Norway (Europe).
Nice video! But I have made a decision to never ever subscribe to a channel with in video commercials.
There are in-video commercials on this video? Damn. I thought I had turned those off years ago... Thank you for letting me know, I’ll make sure to remove them at once! TH-cam must have changed something because I have opted to only have commercials before (and sometimes after) my videos.
Could you check again? TH-cam had turned it on by default 🤔
@@RCTommy Thanks! Much better. +1 subscriber
Thank you, and once again: Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention. Have a nice day! 😁
