A couple of months ago we were in Normandy France we were walking in Bayeux and I noticed a very striking car, the New Ford Focus ST. It had some similarities to the last generation Focus sold here but the interior and exterior trim really made the car stand out. During Covid Ford, Gm and Stalantis decided they were going all trucks and suvs again, they have done this in the past only to have to go to foreign markets to build cars again. I drive by several car dealerships to work and if you look at the inventories they are loaded with trucks and SUV's. Not everybody wants or can afford a truck and now companies like Toyota, Nissan,Hyundai,Kia, VW, Mazda, BMW and Mercedes are again in the driver's seat. Right now Ford car offering is the Mustang and GM's Chevy line is the Malibu. We have 2 9 year old BMW 3-series cars and I wouldn't consider a truck because we like the handling, performance and fuel economy of a car. The domestic car companies are killing dealerships forcing them to take trucks that are unsaleable. FYI I have 45 years in the Auto industry in both dealership and corporate sides
I have a 2022 company pickup which I bought new. I have looked at new trucks and they have become more expensive, they dont have the options I want or have too many options which make the cost over 70K, and the dealer tried to charge me 2000 over list so I will never go back to them again. Electrics just dont cut it for me, I tow trailer almost daily. I will likely buy a new truck in 2027, BUT AT WHAT COST??? By then the truck I need will be 100K.
These same dealerships absolutely SCREWED consumers during COVID with ridiculous pricing FAR above MSRP and now they want people to feel bad for them!?! lmao So hilarious. Karma is REAL!!! hahahhaha
They stopped building vehicles that people want and can afford. In the past Ford made its reputation selling affordable long lasting simple trucks. Now all we see is $80k trucks for sale and useless electric junk that doesn't work and costs way to much. The brand that wins when all this delusion is over will be the brand that wakes up and builds a real truck that doesn't cost more than $20k. We don't want electric, we don't want complicated, failure prone engines, we don't want diesels that require DEF and we don't want all the bs touch screen crap on the dash. Its a truck not an airplane, give it a strong inline 6 cylinder, a solid manual trans, and a beefy frame with heat and ac, and a radio for some tunes and call it done.
I don't think this video is accurate. Ford sales are up 1% through the 3rd quarter of 2024, they have the best selling pickup trucks of any manufacturer, their EV sales are up 72% in the first half of this year. I'm not sure this video depicts the actual truth vs what the video is saying.
The root of the problem in the engineering of the vehicles. I hate all Fords because of the insane amount of clutter under the hood. Just poor designs period.

recalls and low reliability have something to do with this.
They don't back up their warranties !
A Ford guy opinion. Who wants to spend 50 to 100k for an unreliable truck from a company that gives two shits about you after the warranty expires.
