    Honestly had this been any other start up brand or established brand this would have led to a class action lawsuit. It seems that people are heavily invested in the Tesla image and do not want to admit that these faults are unacceptable.

      Of course they will fix it! This is a warranty issue. My experience with similar problems when i got my first 2019 M3 LR is that the issiues eventually got fixed, but it took some time, because the service in Norway was not properly set up in 2019, and all service requests disappeared into a black hole never to be seen again. I think it is understandable when Tesla was only one player in town. In the end, EVs are way more dependable and reliable than ICE. So, people didnt care about cosmetic issues like these because there was no maintenance, cheap operation costs, way better reliability and performance than ICE. Now, however, when u have other EV products, it may become problematic unless they fix it. But, that still does not concern me because the cars are great otherwise. But we will see, once competition gets closer when it comes to performance, range, charging, tech, then perhaps Tesla starts losing customers. But, until then, most of us Tesla customers dont care about these issues because the competitors still are worse even when their panel gaps are better. It is all a trade off remember. There will be cars that are better than other cars at some but worse than other cars at some too. It is always like that and different people prefer different things. That is why there are more than one paint and interior colors, options, models, makes because people like/value different stuff.

    I can so relate with Chris experience. Took delivery Oct ‘18 (day 1 rezo holder, super excited) car had 15 noticeable issues during walkthrough, some minor some major:
    -Panel gaps (top area where the roof and trunk meet, passenger door, frunk misaligned, mention it to the lead tech person and she says “oh, we’ve been seeing that a lot lately” in my mind I’m like well how bought u fix it before u release the car.
    -paint scrape marking on side mirror, paint bubbles, dust particles in paint, lots of rebuffed paint markings, paint blemishes.
    -3 dime size lifted bubble markings on the dashboard
    -lots of scratches on the center console area....did I buy a rental car/demo car? I didn’t ask for one.
    I had a nervous breakdown during delivery, enthusiasm to silent in 30 min. I didn’t know u could reject and never would have thought this would happen for a 63k car. Took it home and so upset I went back to the service center the next day and requested help. Who buys a car to then have it sent back for the 15 issues they want to work out, come on. The Mgr accepted the car back (showed her all the pictures of the defects), took 90 days for refund go another one when I confirmed it’s a new build car they say yes. Order comes in and it’s a DEMO car, I’m like no way! I didn’t wait this long for this. No tesla for me or at least yet until this figure it out. Really unfortunate situation.
    Keep us posted Chris and thank u for sharing.

      Tesla makes it impossible to reach them within the legal return period of the car and unless you've done it before and know exactly what to do, you cannot navigate the system otherwise. Lemon law applies when you take the car in for the same problem three times. A problem that the service center must say is actually a problem. I took it in three times because the range on my car is significantly lower than it was supposed to be but they always said it was normal. Two years later my car has lost 15% of it's capacity seemingly for no reason. I work with lithium ion packs in my day job and am very careful to treat my battery nicely. 1. A door with a frameless window works like that, the window won't close if the door is not fully closed, that is not Tesla's fault, it's how the door works. The black trim on the door might be fix by just pushing it down. Firstly take it out then push it down, it might just work and you will have it perfectly alligned with the one in the back. Yeah , you gotta slam it a bit but you get used to it. I have a 2019 mercedes CLA which i have to slam the doors hard on the back for them to close. It's not the best thing to do but you get used to it. After all it's not like you buy an S-Class or a Maybach, you buy a Tesla Model 3 which is aroun 50.000 euros.
    2. The panel gaps of the trunk-c pillar are not that bad to be honest, i've seen worse gaps in model 3's and other cars. What you have is barely an issue.
    3. The gaps of the tailights are a bit big but it's not that bad to be honest, maybe it also can be fixed by removing the tailight and trying to reposition it. Maybe yes or maybe not, you can try and see.
    4. The problems with the paint / clearcoat . Those can be fixed by polishing the surface until it's perfectly smooth , then apply paint protection film and you'll be fully safe from a lot of things. You don't have to repaint anything, just polish it at a professional and put PPF on it.
    5. The creases on the white leather might be because the leatherette was not properly stretched when applied and the glue that sticks it to the foam under it might have just deattached from the foam and there you have a crease. But you might be able to fix it with heat at a local guy who does interior leather stuff for cars.
    Remember you're not paying for an S Class or Maybach. In my opinion what you have showed in this video is very minor , i would gladly accept those flaws and enjoy the car for what it is. After all , you are gonna spend most time inside of the car not outside.

  • @GraysonCarr
    @GraysonCarr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Okay, I think we have a case of people inspecting their Teslas much more closely than they would any other car. It would be nice if the car didn't have these issues, but they all seemed relatively minor to me, and seem to be things that you would find on any car if you inspected it that closely. I have a 2019 Mazda CX-9 (a $42k Japanese car), and after I watched this video, I went out and compared it. Like this Tesla, it has trim at the top of the door panels that doesn't perfectly align between the front and back doors, it has a couple places where there are small stretch marks in the leather, the gaps above my headlights look larger than below, my roof panel sticks up a littler higher than my tailgate / spoiler top panel, and some doors occasionally don't close if you don't close them hard enough (on my Mazda, this seems to be due to very thick rubber padding, but it has softened up a bit with use and happens less and less often). He would have never noticed the tail light alignment if he hadn't been constantly comparing to other Model 3s. I think the only reason people don't notice these issues in other brands of cars is because they aren't as excited about cars from other brands and don't look over them with a magnifying glass like this. I mean let's be honest, no one ever cared enough about a Honda Pilot or Toyota Camry to go searching for every 2 mm misalignment.

    Take it back to the pick up site right away and return the car for a new one. They will need to re paint the car and it will never be the same. Tesla does not do retouches they use 3rd party. Do not settle for “little” gaps. DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to the service center!! Take it directly to the pick up center. Take the car and return it. Get a new one and don’t settle for anything!! Take pictures and create a ticket. If you go to the service center they will waste your time and deny everything they will tell you that the pick up center manager has to approve the fix for all the issues. They will not fix the issues otherwise. Return the car for a NEW one don’t event think about it. It doesn’t matter if they take 4 more weeks. Trust me I went through the same thing. Drive the car directly to the pick up center grab the manager and tell him/her I want to return the car due to quality defects. Do this now. Don’t even call drive there and let them know.

    • @edpantous
      @edpantous 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not return the car. I misunderstood how to approach the pick up process. I was very excited to pick up my new car. You know you are waiting for around 3 weeks and I you just wanted to drive it. And it’s a freaking new car!! There shouldn’t be any defects. Anyways, I was able to get inside the car and I pointed out 1 flaw. Which they agreed to fix. I believe it was a scratch on one of the tail lights. Also, it’s very hard to check for paint defects over direct sun light you need to be in a garage and try different angles and shades. So I was not able to catch those at delivery. I had around 5 paint issues. They fixed them at no cost but I struggled to get them approved even thou I had the car for 3 days. I took the car back two times due to color mismatch after the paint fix. The trunk was opening by itself this was fixed too. The black plastic inner door seal had this uneven gaps and they fixed that. Oh and wait until you take a road trip and try to drive the 310 miles that the car can “actually” reach. Honestly, I don’t see the model 3 hitting more than 240 miles and Tesla should state that the top mileage is under ideal conditions without using the heater, playing music and driving at a certain speed. You most likely not going to be able to use those 70+ miles. You charge to 80% and don’t drop it below 20%. Anyways , after the issues were fixed and the misconceptions were cleared, I was able to enjoy a very cool, very fast, and environment friendly car. I recommend wrapping the car. Make sure you have the three cameras on while back driving to avoid rim rash. You new model 3 2021 looks pretty badass. Good luck!

We found adhesive residuals all over, the gap on the hood is much bigger on the left than the right, one scratched metal molding, scratched plastic molding at the back of the car, misaligned panels, tail lights mentioned in this video and ... I was told we were nit picking and all gaps are within Tesla tolerance. We rejected the car and cancelled the contract. If we are paying over $60k for a car, I expect both inside and outside to look like a $60k car. Worst of all, the Sales Rep told us not to look at all the online comments when in fact this is the very first Tesla video I have ever seen. Someone at management had made a conscious decision to sacrifice quality for quantity of delivery. what the hell are you talking about, did you compare Tesla to Bugatti? Tesla's are handmade like every other car in the world, they are not hand assembled like high end cars they are assembled like a regular economy car. Their lack of quality control is the only reason people call out these details, regular car manufacturers have dealers that take delivery of the car and do their own inspection before handing it over to a customer. Having dealers also allows for service to be done quickly and easily, the lack of Tesla service centers means if repairs like this are needed it can take a very long time to get the work done.
      Tesla makes a great car but they have a lot to improve on in terms of quality control and customer service.

The only major problems I've had that I needed service for was humidity in my rear driver's tail light and one of the tips of the pins in the charge port broke within a few months. (Tesla said they would replace it and never did, thankfully it works fine) Seeing your video almost makes it seem like quality control has gotten slightly worse since. Hopefully it gets better. Really nice cars, but they really need to get better at build quality.

    For those who have never worked quality control for an auto manufacturer, there is typically a tolerance for gaps. Subaru was plus or minus 5mm. The only issues you should really press Tesla on fixing are the left rear tail light gap, front passenger door not closing correctly, and the debris in the paint near the left rear tire. There are always going to be issues that will slip by during high volume manufacturing, but it’s how the company resolves those issues is what’s most important. I’m sure Tesla will gladly fix those issues in an urgent manner. My experience with other dealerships has not even been close to the level Tesla is on.

      Love how people consider it junk after a few panel misalignments. You're paying more for the software and technology than you are for body panels. BMW, along with most big car makes, are far behind Tesla in that realm. If anything the price for a BMW vs the EV quality is more junk than this.

    Looks like it's has been in an accident right front door striker is in wrong position causing door to not close properly and misalignment of luggage lid to me seems like it was hit on the right side as the colour doesn't match either on the right. Tri stage pearl white you can see the different shade as u walk around. The pillar panel as well and weatherstrip on left rear door as well the chip resistance coating wasn't applied properly again looks to me it's been in another accident someone was in there before you bought it. Definatly would go back and check serial number for any work done to it even though its a new car. I've been doing autobody for 21 years.
