No that's literally facts the 1st time I stormed the castle I had fully upgraded the champions tunic & hyrulian trousers, I had the master sword, ancient bow with 50 ancient arrows I was ready I open that front door and head to collect the hylian shield. After getting it I head upwards defeating every guardian, every lynel and every low class enemy storming my way up to the sanctuary and when I finally arrived I felt like such a badass.
@@jge2319 same except I went in there with like a travelers sword and shield and a little bit of armor. I went into a lynel area and ravioli galed out of there immediately. After that I ran out and didn't come back for a few months. So basically completely different 🫣
First time I heard this theme, I was just sneaking into the castle to get some loot. I had no intention of saving Zelda or fighting Ganon at that time. I heard this music start up and said “Nope.” Yoinked the Hylian shield and a few good swords and fast traveled out of there. Good times
“So you finally arri- where the fuck are you going” “Ooooh gimme like three more years, just gotta- gotta find a snail for this weird family on the other side of hyrule bye love you”
Haha wow. I never even tried to loot hurdle castle before. I mean, I went there early on just to check it out, but as soon as I saw a lynel in there I just wimped out and ran from the catle
I am at this point. It's my first playthrough and I went there almost immediately to learn how to Parry (also for that shrine) and I saw the cutscenes and went well Zelda waited so long she can wait more
The symbolism of it is the coolest part imo, the outside theme representing links fight to get inside and save Zelda, the inside theme representing Zelda’s struggle to contain Ganon. Even during Zelda’s lullaby you can hear the old “low hearts” sound from OoT representing Zelda nearly being exhausted of her energy.
I personally interpret the footsteps as the ghostly echo of the soldiers marching to their demise to protect the castle from the guardians' siege. A grim omen and a warning, but also another reason to fight, so that their deaths won't be in vain. Others see it as a symbol of Ganon's forces marching against link as he ascends towards the castle, others yet as Link's own march. I love to see how just one element opens up to so many cool interpretations
I would love to have a memory or something like that of everyone fighting inside of the castle in the past as the same time we are fighting with him today
The best parts: the way they integrate Link's theme (the LoZ fanfare), Zelda's theme (the Lullaby), and Ganon's theme all together, emphasizing their eternal connection, and how the general vibe is just...melancholic. There's little triumph here, just a heavy, lingering sadness. The tragedy has happened; Link's mission isn't vengeance, the scars are already too deep for that to heal them.
The main melody is also a variation of the Ballad of the Windfish from Link’s Awakening. Specifically it sounds to me like they used the Southern Shrine or possibly the Face Shrine music as inspiration since it sounds the same as BOTW (that’s Ballad Of The Windfish, not Breath Of The Wild 😂) but just played in a sadder, minor key, which has the same feel to it as this song from BOTW (this time I mean it in the normal way 😜)
The marching effect, the snare drums and the trumpets makes it feel like it's not just Link who's marching. It's every soldier who died, every leader, every member of court, ever farmer who had fallen to the Calamity, come to banish the usurper from whence he came. Then Link reaches the inside, and the furious, righteous pride vanishes along with the marching feet of a fallen Hyrule. The once proud home of Hyrule's royalty.. silent like a crypt, overtaken by foul monsters and the Calamity. Reality has set in. He is alone. But Zelda, and all of Hyrule, is depending on him..
Somehow, while I started reading your second paragraph, on the "Then Link..." the music transitioned to the interior version, that was pretty good. Thanks for that.
@@thomazplays9305 The executives, sure. I don't imagine your average Nintendo developer is driven mostly by money. The vast majority of devs out there would probably be happy to take a pay cut to work on Nintendo IPs. I sure as hell would.
@@thomazplays9305 the composer and musicians who made these songs deserve more respect for their dedication to their art than for you to say they only did it money. No doubt the same can be said for the developers themselves
In my eyes botw is showing how far the series has come seeing locations from series past, but this is another example this song includes songs from series past. Ballad of the Windfish: 0:21 OG Zelda theme: 1:25 Zelda’s lullaby: 3:26 And Ganon’s theme: 1:15
What if ballad of the wind fish is mixed in because link's awakening link canonically was the first incarnation since the SS era to develop the same feelings for zelda as the first incarnation of link did? LA link interpreting marin and zelda as seperate people is probably what leads him into mistaking his dream girl to be someone else for multiple reincarnations. Also I love the implication that he likely gravitated to marin/malon because SS zelda also sang... and unknowlingly, unconsciously was reminded of her.
Actually the main part sounds more similar to the “Southern/Face Shrine” music from Link’s Awakening in my opinion. It’s essentially the same tune but played in a more sad sounding minor key, with certain notes lower pitched than the Ballad’s melody. Go listen to it and you’ll see what I mean. It’s still basically Ballad of the Windfish as it serves as kind of the backbone or motif for the majority of the OST with many songs incorporating elements of it.
During all these years I never thought of the Ballad of the Windfish when I heard the melody, but now I can't unhear it. Such a cool detail to include so many leitmotifs for the final dungeon
No the game did have music the thing with this song tho it’s just more as the final battle unlike hateno village or Ruto village theme their more peaceful. Or the guardian attack muisc is more for a battle this is like the Final final battle where you are going to save the princess where you are going to finally bring peace back to hyrule and kill what’s causing pain to everyone.
@@iceicicle3046 I love Hento village theme, and Rito village a lot. Zora city theme is nice but not my favorite but I like it, I also love the field theme when you are in the fields and day time. It’s calming.
link is literally a one man army with this track think about it hyrule had hundreds if not thousands of warriors and they all fell in battle including each of the champions link was the only one to survive (barely) and after a 100 year rest he went back and tried it again this time basically by himself
He just needed a shield, a bow, and a couple arrows, and that's it. I'm a firm believer Hyrule would not have fallen if Link had had at least a shield.
I cant with this song any more, there is a clear distinction between outside where you can hear the piano like the guardian theme along with "links theme" playing loudly and with a beat that sounds like the marching of the fallen champions and soldiers behind him as he makes his way into the castle as if he's carrying the literal and entire fate of Hyrule on his shoulders and how inside where Zeldas still trapped you can hear her lullaby playing semi-softly on the organ and a familiar beeping that sounds like the "low health" beep signifying that she cant keep Gannon at bay much longer, Its all so overwhelming with emotion that it tends to make me cry, AND YOU BETTER BET YOUR ASS THAT IMA KICK GANNON'S ASS A FEW TIMES OVER WHEN I GET DONE WITH MY 5TH RUN
I took my ever sweet time playing botw. Exploring every inch of the map while only going to divine beasts every couple months. Took about 10 months before I entered the castle and let me tell you, the buildup was worth it with this epic theme waiting for me at the end of a year long adventure
This soundtrack truly sells the finality of Hyrule castle, its the final dungeon and Link is as ready as he'll ever be, a hundred years of anticipation, all his friends are dead but are alive within him in spirit, he has conquered the shrines and the divine beasts, full hearts and stamina, fully blessed by the goddess statue, he marches on towards the castle, master sword and hyrule shield in hand ready to take on every guardian. The drums represent Link, strong and steadfast, the organ represents Ganon as the danger that lurks inside, and the piano represents Zelda as a beautiful but melancholic reminder to have faith.
@@sashabraus9110 OMG I know I saw it live and was lierally screaming when he said it like jesus this is going to go above and beyond botw and take it to a whole other level quite literally cause it in the sky now just great.
My favourite ever moment I had in this game was gathering a bunch of ancient arrows and just walking through the front doors of hyrule castle shooting any guardian that I saw, it was so damn satisfying
I love the symbolism in this piece. Link, the last Knight of Hyrule, marching on the castle with the sounds of his fallen comrades marching into battle with him even if only in spirit, bringing with him the full fury of Hyrule's army distilled into a single warrior. But once he enters the castle, it all fades away as the isolation truly sets in and the realization that Zelda is not only still there fighting but is on the verge of defeat after 100 years of non-stop struggle against Ganon. In the end it comes down to what it must always be: The Hero, the Princess, and the Great Evil they've sworn to destroy...
As much as i love ToTK's castle theme. This still tops it all. But ToTK theme goes in a loop, just like the calamity. I swear the handle with care policy of nintendo and their music is so good. All soundtracks gives this specific atmosphere and it's always dead centre on point. I love it.
@@undrpaidright? The beast's ost were a gem brought to us by the devs. These were so good. The temple's in ToTK too though. But i loved the ambience in BOTW❤
When I finally got to enter Hyrule's castle with the intention of killing Ganon after collecting all the memories & lore I could find, I got so emotional. There's just something so heartbreaking about hearing the saga's classic OST with an arrangement that makes it sound as if Link were marching with all of the fallen soldiers, ready to finish what they had started 100 years ago. Nintendo really managed to capture the tiredness and need to put an end to the situation that a hero who's destined to save a world that he doesn't fit in anymore feels while still motivating the players and getting them into that "final battle" mode. I loved every single second of this game and can't wait to see what Nintendo has to offer next.
I literally don't know if Nintendo can make a Zelda that feels more impactful than BOTW did. I've watched footage plenty, but am just now playing it for the first time, after playing every other 3D Zelda besides SS, and 2D besides the Oracle games. The biggest feeling I get with this game is progression. Link is so weak at the beginning of the game, the literal anxiety of running from a Guardian who can kill Link in one shot. Getting stronger, completing shrines, and getting the Master Sword before facing any of the divine beasts, while still continuing to grow is so powerful to me. This game is a masterpiece, even if far from traditional. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but I'm honestly unsure if Nintendo can achieve this level of passion and effort again.
@@winxwest2964 Agree to disagree, ToTK fails to recapture the magic of BoTW's atmosphere and completly trivializes BoTW's lore. It's still a solid game though.
It makes some sense in the lore of AoC. This song was forged from the feeling of revenge and mourning of what the Calamity took. Inside and outside respectively.
I like how the og Zelda theme is used so sparingly in this game's soundtracks that it makes it feel like the song of the old heroes has turned into..... Legend
outside is so sweeping and epic and I was really happy to hear the main Zelda theme in there, and then inside is a continuation but much more intimate, like being in Zelda's private room, and it beautifully incorporates the lullaby
1:24 this part is one of the most epic songs I’ve heard from Nintendo, I got chills all throughout my body walking through Hyrule Castle and hearing this. I was thinking “this is for Hyrule, for the people I met, for the memories I made, for everything.”
To reach Hyrule Castle after 200h seiing it in the distance, just to listen to it is a amazing experience, among the best in my personal gaming history
something more emotional is that in Zelda's theme at 3:26 the background sounds is the same when you're running out of health in the classic zelda games, it's like the song is implying that after 100 years, Zelda is still holding her last breath
I always played the outside theme before I had an exam in university and was walking towards the exam building. It really set the atmosphere and gave me a feeling of duty, like I have to pass this exam for the sake of my loved ones, for the ones who believe in me. May sound weird, but I can't really explain it in another way.
I love how, in the background of the outside theme, you can hear the undertones of the inside theme, and vice versa. It really ties it all together and makes it feel whole. The two go hand in hand, being the two sides of the struggle to fix what we had lost, but still, they're intertwined. Climbing to the top of Hyrule Castle gives you a huge sense of accomplishment after all you've done to get to this point, with both your own and Zelda's struggles. The two themes are perfectly crafted to contrast, yet compliment each other. A masterpiece score for a masterpiece of a game.
The outside portion of this theme feels like a group of hardened soldiers marching into a battle that they know they're not coming back from. Triumph in the face of an inevitable fate. That's just the feeling I get from it, and I think it portrays that feeling incredibly well. The way the strings and trumpet slowly builds up and clashes with the more sporadic piano, it's absolutely amazing.
After watching a gamespot video on this topic, Zelda's lullaby inside the castle hits WAY harder. Supposedly, the beeping you hear matches the low health beeping sound of previous games and is meant to represent Zelda's pulse. Quickly the pulse rises from normal to very fast before flatlining entirely
0:11 Super Nes Hyrule Castle Music (the two notes embody the beginning of the Super Nes music. Also present in Twilight Princess) 0:21 Ballad of the Windfish 0:42 Ganondorf's theme 1:12 Again Ganondorf's theme 1:23 Link 's theme / Zelda's Lullaby 1:52 Ballad of the Windfish 2:25 Ballad of the Windfish Repeat It is awesome to see that finally, BOTW Hyrule Castle is HEAVILY based on Ballad of the Windfish, which brings a LOT of feelings to the ones who have finished Link's Awakening, with superb additions of the three Triforce wielders themes. My regret for Tears of Kingdom is musics from Divine Beasts and this Castle are not back :-( .
I think the focus on ambient themes in BotW makes the whole Hyrule Castle set piece hit way harder. While lots of games save the best themes for the final dungeon and boss, BotW felt like it saved all of its music until the end. It took a lot of restraint to pull this off.
I imagine the footfalls at the start are the lost from 100 years previous, following link as he accends to end ganon, always gives me chills. (Same as previously mentioned I guess)
This theme was the culmination...a crescendo of the Event's. The point that Link died 100 years ago with the other champions wasn't lost on us. The Difference being they took him to the Restoration chamber. So in essence, calamity Ganon succeeded in his duty. But, that doesn't mean it can't be corrected. Link being resurrected brings him new vigor. As he reclaims his memories from the Calamity and realizes, he's the one to fix this. So, this path to me signifys what occurred in the past, what we're dealing with right now...what we will have to face down the road BUT...all is not lost. There's still a chance. Also, I stayed away from the castle until the very end where I had everything I needed. The minute i hit the castle and this music played amped me up. I recalled the memories unlocked, my friends perishing, the princess taken, motivated me to conquer the evil known as Calamity Ganon.
Love the matching sound in the background as if the soldiers who’ve fallen still haven’t given up the fight after death as they March behind link to accompany and help him in some way idk lol
I love the outside sounds like Link fighting agressively hords of deadly guardians And the inside sounds like Zelda waiting desperately for a century Because it's what happens
I remember how intense and how stressed I was to enter the castle for the first time. I was prepared. A bunch of bomb arrows. Defeating Guardian by Guardian, Lizalfos by Lizalfos and feeling prouder every second. Then storming into Zelda's room and reading the journal, picking up the only flower left. It was like experiencing the ultimate story and actually feeling like you're a real-life character in the game. Reading King Rhoam's diary. It was so mesmerising. God I love that game. It does suck that after you defeat Ganon nothing really changes, all you have is a star on your saves. I'd feel prouder if when I prayed to the statue, it would congratulate me or I'd finnaly meet Zelda and talk to her. :')
The inside ost is just so marvelous in so many ways. Is the same melody that we heard so many times in other games but with a noticeable sadness of what the castle once was. Is still there but is not there at the same time and is just a wonderful feeling
After playing Totk, I can say that Botw had some serious struck of genius that not even Totk can surpass (and that game is miraculous how much fun it has in just 16GB), one of them being the Great Plateau (best tutorial in gaming history ever) and the Hyrule Castle: the music, how it's layered, the enemies, the loot, the hints of the lore, it's just amazing. Totk is probably the best game of all time, but Botw still has some things that, not even the acclaimed sequel, could surpass.
As my first zelda game I am so grateful i get to experience something by so amazing. Ive just finished totk and that was also just amazing (although i really dislike the depths especially if you have to go and activate all the lightroots ugh…) and I just started ocarina of time and I’m loving that too. Nintendo will always be my favorite game company. Its always fun when i play their games and they dont focus on making impressive or cutting edge graphic like most games do and while I do appreciate it I much prefer having fun than looking at photo realistic graphics. Keep doing what you are good at Nintendo 👍
We’re in the final hours now boys…this song feels like a great sendoff to botw in my opinion and the memories I had with it and wouldn’t have it any other way. Looking forward to Tears of the Kingdom ❤
It's weird, playing through this game really feels like we're going through the abandoned ruins of a Zelda game, if that makes any sense. And good lord does this song reinforce that feeling.
I hadn't played a Zelda game since the original on NES. I was up late and decided to venture into the castle for some side quest and got hit by this absolute wrecking ball of nostalgia. 10/10
I recently played Link's Awakening on switch and I can't beleive that I had not noticed before that this hyrule castle theme is mostly composed on the Ballad of the Wind Fish (specifically the piece that plays in southern face shrine where link finds the truth about Koholint island) So here's the catch: in both games Link suffers a catastrophe, whereas in LA he wakes up in a dream, in BotW he wakes up in a nightmare. The Ballad of the Wind Fish in this piece represents Link's mission: to wake up the entire Hyrule kingdom from the horrible nighmare that fell on it a hundred years ago...
THIS area and THIS music is the reason why I keep coming back to BotW, as soon as I leave the great plateau I go straight to Hyrule's Castle! (Not to fight Ganon though but to farm items)
I like the fact you can hear link's theme, and Zelda's lullaby in both of the segments of this song. In the outside version, link's theme is more easily recognized because he is the one who built up the courage to go to the castle, and finally fight Calamity Ganon. Zelda's lullaby is still heard of course, but way more discreet than in the interior version of the song. We hear it way more clearly and loudly than the outside version because when link finally conquered the castle, the guardians, the lynels, and everything else standing in his path, it is no longer him that is important, but the princess. The princesses cries are heard louder, and the song always reminds you that, whatever you are doing, she is in there with him. She doesn't have much time left. You must go save Zelda. Sorry for my potentially awful English, I'm trying to learn, but your language is weird.
Making an easy piano arrangement of this for my student and it’s making me appreciate this soundtrack even more. Such a clever use of multiple time signatures, motifs…the transition to inside was an absolute stroke of genius. The heroe’s theme for outside and Zelda's lullaby for inside, all the while making you feel the struggle to the top of the castle. Brilliant. If anyone wants a copy of the sheet music I’m thinking of uploading it to my channel along with a video.
One of my favorite things about Hyrule Castle, is that entering is entirely your choice. So when you think, that your prepared, you’ve done all you can to get all the equipment you need, then your greeted to the sound of soldiers marching an eerie organ, and the music. You still feel unprepared because of the music
I love that small tiny detail is whenever Zelda/links theme plays at the same time (if you like go inside or outside when it's part is playing you'll see the mirror)
Seriously, I'm putting this on par with the classics from Ocarina of Time. The music in these last couple of games might have been pretty subtle for the most part, but when it goes hard, it goes *hard*
Every second of this is a total nostalgia trip. Bravo to Nintendo for layering this song with so much nuance and emotion from across the years. Even though you haven't "officially" met Ganon yet, you just KNOW he's in there.
Musically, BOTW set the bar high with the Hyrule Castle theme. In TOTK, as good and as haunting as it sounds, it still comes up short in comparison to this theme. This theme also feels more definitive than the latter theme, I think the one in TOTK should have been in BOTW and vice versa.
On paper, the idea that they would stuff all these themes (ballad of the wind wish, Ganondorfs theme, original Zelda theme, Zelda’s lullaby) in a single song sounds absolutely destined for disaster. Not only did they pull it off, they knocked it out of the park.
I think this theme is gonna stay one of my fave soundtracks of all time, probably for like... Forever. Its so good and i never get tired of hearing it.
I agree BOTW was better. TOTK is a good game but it feels nothing like a zelda game. The developers took it too far away from the roots of what a zelda game is supposed to be. Not a big fan of all that zonai tech bs. However I will say the battle with Ganondorf is way better and more challenging than calamity ganon
Agreed. BOTW felt like an adventure, a lonely and meditative adventure. Tears feels much more like a playground for the new mechanics, not as cohesive as BOTW. Quality is all over the place. Only time Tears gave me feelings close to BOTW is the novelty of the new areas though that quickly wore off when I started coming across copy pasted yiga camps, mines, sky islands.
My favorite part of this theme is that for majority of the game, the music was calm and slow. It fit the slow open exploration and build up of the game. Then when it’s time to finish the job, you get this intense masterpiece. Really hypes you up
One of my favorite interpretations of this theme is that when Link is storming the castle, the marching sounds outside represent Link representing the last of Hyrule's army coming back to retake the castle once and for all, that every soldier, every knight, all the Champions, everyone who fell to the Calamity are marching in with him to take the fight to Ganon... ...and then he makes it inside and all that fades away to the realization that none of them remain save for Link himself and Zelda, trapped within and still fighting a century later. All that fades away with the understanding that Zelda is struggling and losing. Her lullabye segment of the music even has the old "low health" alarm tones the older games had, showing she's on the verge of failing after all this time. Link storms Hyrule Castle with the memories of the fallen at his back, but in the end it always comes down to the Hero, the Princess and the monster they are eternally fighting against.
I remember avoiding this place on my first play through, and only going near it once I had all 4 divine beasts and the master sword. That was one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. Also, I never found the land guardians too difficult. I even got to the point where I could destroy them without parrying
3:26 - At this part of the song, sounds Zelda´s lullaby, and also, very at the deep we can hear the alarm that used to play when Link's health from "A Link to the Past" or in other else The Legend of Zelda game, was about to run out. Seems like this part of the song is trying to tell us "Hurry up Hyrule´s hero! princess Zelda, who has been this last hundred years holding the Gannon´s power is tired and her streght is about to run out!" dude, is very emotional
This part of the soundtrack really hit me hard. With the back story and amount of hours I poured into the game knowing my adventure was about to end since I’m one of the gamers who don’t pick up the game for a while after finishing it. It’s been a while since a VGST has done this, since Ocarina of Time.
Tears has many amazing themes but this one feels special. We are not just saving Zelda, we are not just fighting Ganon. We are avenging the souls of the fallen, a last chance at saving Hyrule from Ganon after the fall of the champions. I just wished they put more story into Breath of the Wild.

Kinda sad we didn't have this at Hyrule Castle again for ToTK. This was my favourite track after all
TOTK's hyrule castle theme still slaps tho
Well totk hyrule castle is not thé final goal tho its just à desolate place with just monster in it still as good ost tho
Hyrule castle aint the same without this theme and the guardians giving me heart attacks
Also Hyrule Castle isn't the finality in Totk like it was with Botw, so it wouldn't be as grand with the music.
hell nah totk's hyrule castle slaps

In my eyes botw is showing how far the series has come seeing locations from series past, but this is another example this song includes songs from series past.
Ballad of the Windfish: 0:21
OG Zelda theme: 1:25
Zelda’s lullaby: 3:26
And Ganon’s theme: 1:15
After all this game was on Zelda’s 30th anniversary so it makes complete sense and is welcome
Also around 4:03 and 6:07 you can hear the first few notes of the original Zelda theme.
Such a cool detail to include so many leitmotifs for the final dungeon
i love how the botw ost consists of
. miniboss music
. boss music
. ambience music
. ORCHESTRAL MASTERPIECE

There are a handfull of musical masterpieces in the soundtrack but hyrule castle theme sticks out. It so well crafted and arranged.
The moment when you realize the reason there's barely any music is that they stuffed the entire soundtrack into the castle.
Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No the game did have music the thing with this song tho it’s just more as the final battle unlike hateno village or Ruto village theme their more peaceful. Or the guardian attack muisc is more for a battle this is like the Final final battle where you are going to save the princess where you are going to finally bring peace back to hyrule and kill what’s causing pain to everyone.

I wish I could forget the whole game and do it again ^^
That melody that plays when you find a shrine outside gave me chills when I entered Hyrule Castle
Honestly bro.
link is literally a one man army with this track think about it hyrule had hundreds if not thousands of warriors and they all fell in battle including each of the champions link was the only one to survive (barely) and after a 100 year rest he went back and tried it again this time basically by himself
That pretty much is every Zelda game
"if you want it done right, do it yourself" ig
A man can’t be fully rest until the bad guys lose!!!
There are two reasons:
-Link is beig brain
-Link is a chad who can stop a freakin lynel with a shield and lynels are massive
I NEVER NOTICED THE HEALTH BEEPING BEFORE THAT'S SO COOL!
I never realized the beeping was in the background! That's such a cool catch, as well as an amazing reason!
The beeping just started playing when I read that I can’t believe I missed that. How dope
Calamity may have defeated link but little did he know when he did he took a step into his personal inescapable hell, where he will forever be beaten

I took my ever sweet time playing botw. Exploring every inch of the map while only going to divine beasts every couple months. Took about 10 months before I entered the castle and let me tell you, the buildup was worth it with this epic theme waiting for me at the end of a year long adventure
About six months, 700 hours put into the game for me. I know exactly what you mean.
Dude, literally same, took me about 11 months.
Same here! A year! Totally worth it!
Dayum idk why mine took like a month and a half to finish. Im pretty sure I did most of the things too.

Ooo, yes! This song rly does feel like the Triforce in musical form
0:47 whats crazy is this is the same descending piano notes they used for totk whenever youre getting closer to ganondorf's lair
Cause its Ganon's Theme

The mad lads did it! TOTK is even better.

I WILL NEVER GET TIRED OF THIS THEME!
Honestly, one of the best pieces of music I’ve ever heard!
I like how the og Zelda theme is used so sparingly in this game's soundtracks that it makes it feel like the song of the old heroes has turned into..... Legend
Just infiltrated Hyrule Castle for the first time yesterday. I still cannot get over how amazing and fun it was, and how astounding the music is!!!
outside is so sweeping and epic and I was really happy to hear the main Zelda theme in there, and then inside is a continuation but much more intimate, like being in Zelda's private room, and it beautifully incorporates the lullaby
1:24 this part is one of the most epic songs I’ve heard from Nintendo, I got chills all throughout my body walking through Hyrule Castle and hearing this. I was thinking “this is for Hyrule, for the people I met, for the memories I made, for everything.”
Zelda's Lullaby and Link's theme mixed together was a thing I didn't know I wanted
The beat being the soldiers marching is such an amazing touch.
After 100 years you are going to take back what ganon took from you, it's Link's march
To reach Hyrule Castle after 200h seiing it in the distance, just to listen to it is a amazing experience, among the best in my personal gaming history
That smooth change into link's theme made me emotional it was so beautiful! 1:23
something more emotional is that in Zelda's theme at 3:26 the background sounds is the same when you're running out of health in the classic zelda games, it's like the song is implying that after 100 years, Zelda is still holding her last breath

The violin absolutely destroyed this sound track
I'll never forget rolling up to Hyrule Castle for the first time and hearing this masterpiece.
So well put! It’s clearly exactly what they were going for but myyyy godddd did they nail this! I’m never not emotional listening to this!!
Man the soldiers marching sound is just perfect. Loved the dark world tones from link to the past. God great memories!
Individually, each version is 9/10 for me. Put them together and it's 10/10, absolutely amazing!!
Thank you ! :)

Just like the SOS being overridden in all of the Divine Beast themes by SAD
Link, Zelda, and Ganons theme all mushed into one piece of music is what drives me up the mf wall. Love that shit and hope they do it more often.
0:11 Super Nes Hyrule Castle Music (the two notes embody the beginning of the Super Nes music. Also present in Twilight Princess)
0:21 Ballad of the Windfish
0:42 Ganondorf's theme
1:12 Again Ganondorf's theme
1:23 Link 's theme / Zelda's Lullaby
1:52 Ballad of the Windfish
2:25 Ballad of the Windfish
Repeat
It is awesome to see that finally, BOTW Hyrule Castle is HEAVILY based on Ballad of the Windfish, which brings a LOT of feelings to the ones who have finished Link's Awakening, with superb additions of the three Triforce wielders themes.
I love the rhythmic bass, and the changing from 3/4 to 5/4!
Ahhhh and the fact that it incorporates Zelda’s lullaby into hyrule/Ganondorf’s theme! Zelda is LITERALLY fighting from within the castle!
Honestly this was amazing, this was the reason I think BotW was a better game, the whole experience walking into Hyrule Castle was astonishing
The fact that Ballad of the Wind Fish is the base for this song will never not give me chills.
Doing homework has never felt so cinematic.
I love the outside sounds like Link fighting agressively hords of deadly guardians
And the inside sounds like Zelda waiting desperately for a century
Because it's what happens
Cuando escuchas este tema por primera vez en el castillo, te das cuenta que el juego valio cada maldito centavo por lo hermoso que es
Totalmente de acuerdo hermano
Fun fact: in the background of the zelda's lullaby part you can hear the sound effect that plays when u are low on health in a link to the past
This theme represents the Triforce itself: power, courage and wisdom
This theme to this day gives me chills it’s the perfect combination of a final confrontation and hope for the future
This game is incredible
This is so good, i love exploring Hyrule Castle. I cant wait to get TotK.
I feel like this this whole track just keeps saying: we are still alive, we are still here, we still fight
I recently played Link's Awakening on switch and I can't beleive that I had not noticed before that this hyrule castle theme is mostly composed on the Ballad of the Wind Fish (specifically the piece that plays in southern face shrine where link finds the truth about Koholint island)
So here's the catch: in both games Link suffers a catastrophe, whereas in LA he wakes up in a dream, in BotW he wakes up in a nightmare.
The Ballad of the Wind Fish in this piece represents Link's mission: to wake up the entire Hyrule kingdom from the horrible nighmare that fell on it a hundred years ago...
felt like such a badass walking into the castle alone and single handedly wiping out all the guardians while this theme was playing
The heart beat. How it's slow then it speeds up but keeps its rhythm.
It flat lines as well to the end
Your English is actually perfect! 👍🏽 and you're analysis of the music is spot on as well! This is such a good game 😆
Our language is truly weird.
Your English is amazing! I know English people born and bred that can't articulate as well as you did here ❤
true. and the noises make it seem like Zelda is at 1 heart, barely holding off the Calamity after those 100 years. making the situation way more dire.
@@1337_bean true I didn't notice that. Still learning stuff after 7 years. This game truly is the best game of all time.
W music teacher
i would love to have a music teacher like you
One of my favorite things about Hyrule Castle, is that entering is entirely your choice.
We all love the classics but this is going up there.
Seriously, I'm putting this on par with the classics from Ocarina of Time. The music in these last couple of games might have been pretty subtle for the most part, but when it goes hard, it goes *hard*
Playing through the game for the first time. The minute I heard this come on was an absolute wow moment. What a true masterpiece.
Every second of this is a total nostalgia trip. Bravo to Nintendo for layering this song with so much nuance and emotion from across the years.
Even though you haven't "officially" met Ganon yet, you just KNOW he's in there.
Link is here now. And he's hungry for some bacon.
(SPOILERS) Well Hyrule Castle isn’t the end, Gloom’s Lair is and I think that theme does absolutely hold up against this one
On paper, the idea that they would stuff all these themes (ballad of the wind wish, Ganondorfs theme, original Zelda theme, Zelda’s lullaby) in a single song sounds absolutely destined for disaster. Not only did they pull it off, they knocked it out of the park.
really hope TOTK has more moments like this, this is best hyrule castle infiltration in the series, and the best dungeon in botw.
I think this theme is gonna stay one of my fave soundtracks of all time, probably for like... Forever. Its so good and i never get tired of hearing it.

I found totks buildup better because it gets more intense till you reach Ganondorf
Seems like this part of the song is trying to tell us "Hurry up Hyrule´s hero! princess Zelda, who has been this last hundred years holding the Gannon´s power is tired and her streght is about to run out!"
dude, is very emotional
This part of the soundtrack really hit me hard. With the back story and amount of hours I poured into the game knowing my adventure was about to end since I’m one of the gamers who don’t pick up the game for a while after finishing it. It’s been a while since a VGST has done this, since Ocarina of Time.
I love the duet of Zelda's theme and links theme and how good they fit together
Its crazy how legendary this game is. Totk is better but botw is just legendary man
"You may think your good (totk)
But i am better (botw)"
Revali
Tears has many amazing themes but this one feels special. We are not just saving Zelda, we are not just fighting Ganon. We are avenging the souls of the fallen, a last chance at saving Hyrule from Ganon after the fall of the champions. I just wished they put more story into Breath of the Wild.
