John is a lucky man! I really liked that watch a lot when it came out. If you recall I have the exact same Omega Diver 300M as yourself, and not only is John lucky, but you're lucky in being able to have the best of both worlds under the same roof! I hope he loves it, and I wish you both much happiness this holiday season.
Matthew Davis You are so incredibly kind, thanks so much for always coming around for new videos! And yes! Omega twins! This one is making me want a Marine Master or Grand Seiko of some sort to compare with our SMs, though I don’t know if I could part with that much on a Seiko. Hope the Chicago winter is treating you well (I wish we had a white Christmas) and happy holidays to you and yours too!! Cheers!!

@@joshjamesyoutube really, really nice to hear from you! I got back into Chicago last night after a week in Cozumel Mexico. Actually, no white Christmas here either. Nice thing is I'll be commuting via motorcycle next week which I love! I wish you all the love and happiness at Christmas and for the New Year. As for Seiko, I feel pretty much the same way as you do. Also, not sure what they are thinking expanding Spring Drive to non Grand Seiko models either. I realize they are taking Seiko as a whole upmarket, but I fear it undermines the exclusivity of the GS line which they are working so hard to position in haute horology. I recently acquired a Glashütte Original Senator Panorama Date (pre-owned), and OMG the value for money is staggering. Stunning workmanship. Love it! Definitely worth checking out their model lines. Honestly, Swatch Group does offer some amazing value for money brands, including our exquisite SMPC's! Although it's not a current model, I would be happy to send the GO to you if you had an interest in reviewing it. All the best to you and John!
Wearing my SBDC051 as I am watching this today. It's such a beautiful watch in person. The indices are sharp and capture light really well and the lume is incredible. I looked at the SBDC101 and thought about it but I feel the 051 is a better built watch with more personality. The AR is really good and the bezel is really nice as well. Some people think it looks bigger than its 42.6mm but I don't think so. They way Seiko made the case which is beautiful wears so well. You can get these second hand on eBay for an absolute bargain now.
The SBDC077 Green sea special edition of the same family as this one is gorgeous to me. However this one is good too as you can never go wrong with black.
Duong Quoc Dat YES. I have to admit that the 077 is burning a hole in my pocket hahaha! I may be picking one up next year sometime. It’s just gorgeous, I LOVE green Seikos and that would be my third! Cheers and happy holidays!

@@joshjamesyoutube Definitely agree. Seiko just knows how to do the green on their watches. I have the latest Sumo green and absolutely love it! Cheers and happy holidays!
Awesome review. But I’m not sure why so many people got this wrong. The SBDC051 has aluminium bezel insert with lacquered finished, instead of a stainless steel or a ceramic bezel. Still, an amazing watch nonetheless.
Fungus Foong Do you have the 053? I haven’t yet seen a picture or video that makes it look good - the difference in how the color looks between the bezel and dial is off putting, BUT I love blue divers so if that’s not the case in real life I would love to get one of those also. Though I think my next from this series will be the 077 (love the green). Had to go with classic black here, though. Cheers and thanks for watching!
@@joshjamesyoutube I thought so too, but the blue tones are constantly changing with each angle and light. They actually do work together pretty amazingly.
I’ve just received mine today and I agree, the two different finishes are beautiful, the light plays with them so well, it really is a cut above the SKX007 which I adore, or the Samurai, Sumo or any of those. I’m chuffed to bits with it. I’d like to get the stainless steel strap, though at some point.

Thank you for the review! Such a great present! Happy holidays!

I’ve got a 6.5in wrist. In your opinion, would the sbdc051 fit well on my wrist or would it be too large?
Ferien7 maybe. I have just received the 53 and it’s gorgeous and it seems perfect for my...........7.5 inch wrist.
IMHO....the 053 is prettier and has more bling.
