    Great 200M versions of the MM300. And those bezels.... so nicely executed. Nice continuation from the SBDC051/3... which are amazing as well.

    I have the SBDC053 on a bracelet which I absolutely love and this watch seems like the exact watch with the only difference being the shape of the hour markers. May not be worth doing a comparison as that may be only difference to note!

    OMG, first off my main problem with both these beautiful Seiko divers is that they are with you instead of being with me.😀😁😂. Now I have to follow up with my normal watch purchasing prosegers , which are to give myself a 2to3 week cool down . This is something that I do to make sure that I don't get in trouble with my money,😁 . Thank you for this great opportunity to delve into my favorite things to do. I love Seiko watchs and I was already looking at a Seiko sarp93, Save the Ocean. I have to say that out of all the watchs that I look at, I only own a small number of watchs. This cool down time along with your informative watch segments are invaluable. Thanks again.

    I’ve had my eye on the SBDC061. The bracelet looks similar to the one on my 051, 053, and 055. I’ve honestly never had any issue with alignment or lume application, but most of the Seikos I have are JDM. I am contemplating selling my Shogun to get one of these.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Christian Gonzalez I like this better than the shogun but I always prefer steel myself

    • @chrisg-gg2iu
      @chrisg-gg2iu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bruce...Same here. I bought the Shogun after I bought the 62mas 051 and after a trip to Japan. I was underwhelmed by the Shogun and taken back by its lightness. Its a great watch but I like stainless steel better.

  • @Mister19Eleven

    This seems to combine styling cues of the Sumo and the MM300 from the case shape, the lines, and how the sides just barely rise to almost shroud the bezel. Just wish there was an option to get the blue on bracelet too and not a fan of the broad hour hand. But I love the bezel and case.

  • @Lee_K_5555
    @Lee_K_5555 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    As you know, my unwavering enthusiasm for Seiko has shown quite a few cracks lately. Could the SPB077/9 restore my faith? So far, it looks quite good. They have addressed my main issues with their mid-tier diver line: they now have sapphire crystals, milled clasps, bezel inserts that befit the price, and hopefully a reduction in the quality issues that have been sadly evident in fully half of the Seiko diver watches that I have owned. I agree, those hands are becoming ubiquitous (Tuna, SBDC051, and they are remarkably similar to the Samurai and Monster hands) but they don't bother me too much. 20 mm strap width on a 44 mm watch head? That one gives me pause as that has been my aesthetic complaint about the Sumo. But it doesn't look very noticeable in the video, so maybe it won't be an issue.
    Thanks for getting these watches in a reviewing them for us. Always appreciated!

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee K your welcome, the lug ends are much slimmer on this than the sumo, I think it blends well. Was it you who bought the omega?

    • @Lee_K_5555
      @Lee_K_5555 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, a 2500-series Planet Ocean. That is what prompted Jeff M. to make two videos about the angst of a reforming Seiko fanboy.

  • @bradjosephson6353
    @bradjosephson6353 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just my opinion, but for me I just purchased the Japanese model SBDC061 and it has quickly become my favorite SEIKO to wear. It combines all you want in a mechanical watch with masculinity, sleekness, and a very comfortable wear. It is not an over the top design or color, just a classic dive look. The shortcomings of the 6R15 are fairly well documented, but in light of how beautiful this watch is, I just don't care if it loses 15-30 seconds a day.

  • @thekeystonekid8687

    I just picked up an Orient Triton from long island watch for under $400 and I think its quality and fit & finish is on par with these two Seikos. I may be saving for a Tuna, but if Orient can keep making watches like the Triton that are a step above the Mako & Ray models I might not be able to resist over a comparable Seiko.

    Nice one Bruce. Is it just the camera or does the bracelet seem to be too small for the lugs? It looks like the bracelet needs to be taller or something to line up with the inside of the lugs.

    • @BruceWilliams

      Super favorably. They are essentially the same watch just aesthetic or stylistic differences. The 05x will have more visible ar sheen, and I think the 06x will fit a larger variety of wrists.

    I am not sure I get the rationale for putting the exact same (?) hands on the SPB061/063 as on the 051/053. Maybe this is why I feel that the "déclic" is still missing (for me).

    Not so sure about MM200 though... no 8L35/ SD or ratcheting clasp.

    • @SaoGage
      @SaoGage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would the 8l35 be placed in a $1,000 watch? Do you think Seiko produces them cheaply?

    • @spence6226
      @spence6226 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good Apollo I was referring to the nickname “MM200”. There is no 6R15 Marine Master. Only the SD- 5R66, 5R65, Auto- 8L55, 8L35 & 7C46 Quartz movements are reserved for the Master Series of divers. Seiko/ Grand Seiko makes great watches at $200-$15,000 price points. I’ve owned/own many of Seiko’s best divers. I still have my Emperor, MM300 & SD MM600 & a couple of Turtles. These new SBDC051-053 & 061/63 are excellent divers for the money as long you get one with no alignment issues and fun’s fairly accurate. 🍻

  • @j8sdx

      Steve Podraza tuna has more wrist presence in my opinion

    Very Nice Bruce! The 061 or an Oris Aquis? What do you think?🤔

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Aquis has the screw links, ceramics, and selitta movement. But the Seiko has the magic :)

    • @iHaejeog
      @iHaejeog 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have said Seiko a couple months ago but it looks like the Seiko magic wore off for me. I now have an Oris Divers 65 and would highly recommend the Aquis. However, I'm not too happy with the bracelet/rubber strap being integrated on the Aquis but I've heard very good things (comfort and quality wise) about both.

  • @Redonepunch
    @Redonepunch 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My blue one has a misaligned chapter ring, uneven applied lume with dark spots, crown gets stuck when opening and closing, and the bezel sounds weird at certain spots. I can’t even exchange it because it’s within seiko specs. So no, not a return to form.
    Edit* I edited my post since Bruce didn't buy the watch from SeiyaJapan and the dealer he buys from inspects every watch. I guess they cherry pick every watch for every customer which is awesome and how it should be.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris, I don't buy from Seiya anymore. Too many stories of customers having issues. I use japan-onlinestore.com they honor the Seiko warranty if you send it back to them. Your the first I've seen on social media to have any QC issues with either of these new releases. You should be able to get a new one if it came stamped from an AD. Sounds like that is not the case.

    • @Redonepunch
      @Redonepunch 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My apologies I got the vendor wrong, and I guess they really do have poor service. I’m being told that all of the issues are within Seiko tolerances, except for the lume, but there are no guarantees that Seiko will do anything about any of the issues. Considering my complete lack of confidence in Seiya having my back and Seiko’s standards for quality, I’m not sure if I should waste more money and send the watch back to Seiko. What I know for sure is I’m never giving another penny to either company.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally understandable Chris. These are some of the reasons why I mainly buy from ADs now. They can look over the merchandise before shipping, and send product back to Seiko if it doesn't meet QC standards. One California AD I buy from told me he got a scratched end link new from Seiko and when stuff like that happens it goes right back for them to replace. Once Seiko understands that their unacceptable QC issues are costing them big money things will change fast

  • @tomepavleski9382

    I bought the watch the moment I saw in the AD retail outlet. It is a great looking watch, combining Sapphire, Diashock, Vintage look ... Beautiful ... at first site. Couple of days later, I noticed that the dial markers are misaligned. What a disappointment. I took it back to the shop and raised a complaint with Seiko Japan. Got a confirmation of the fault from the AD and no feedback from Seiko. For 1200 USD I could have bought very good Sinn, Ball, Fortis or Hamilton and avoid this agro and disappointment. I have been a Seiko patron for 15 years, this is the last Seiko that I will ever buy.

      Bruce Williams You are welcome :) I have to ask- as a marinemaster owner how do you think "mm200" compares to it? Cheers

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Simeon Aleksiev it has a lot of the same design cues. But much thinner and more comfortable on wrist. Better crystal. The MM300 is noticeably nicer finished, love the expanding clasp, and the handset is one of Seikos best they’ve ever done. MM300 definitely the nicer watch but the price difference will be huge soon!
