Agreed! This type of "polished" footage and script-reading is nowhere near as comfy and charming as it was back in the day...

@@theurbangentry yeah, figured you still do your own autonomous watch review things at home in New York (the content of which I personally admire, highly), while simultaneously producing videos from the WatchBox team using their watches as focal items (which is a cool way to learn about a LOT of horology-related procedures and know-how, while getting one's hands on watches which are dementedly priced and providing due reviews). Just keep doing what you're doing, Teeg!

Nice review, just one minor complaint: At 6:50 you are showing quick-set with the hour hand between 10 and 11, which in the worst case can damage the movement when the date change gear teeth are engaged.

    Enjoyable review.
Just ordered the last one from Shopping in Japan.
Not an inexpensive watch but I've always wanted a high quality Made in Japan Seiko dive watch, so my wish has been made real. Like you I just love the brand. In fact I remember my Dad had a Seiko watch when I was a kid (about 50 years ago!), I think it was an early quartz watch based on my blurry memory of it after all these years.
I'm looking forward to it's arrival.

Regularly watch the channel but somehow missed this episode. I bought one of these about 9months ago - huge discount at one of the big jewelry chains who were liquidating their Seikos. I love it because it is restrained, I wanted a diver but not a "look at me I'm wearing a humungous diving watch" type watch. Its been absolutely fantastic so far. Great vids - keep up the good work.

I'm wavering between two Seiko 62MAS re-imaginings; the SPB051J1 and the SPB143J1. One is slightly cheaper, but is the newer one slightly better? Interested to hear your thoughts.

What a GREAT production. This has been one of the best reviews. It's rising up the bar. I loved the music, the two and even three camera story telling you got going on. For the viewer it is pleasing to see the mix of landscape, architecture, and the rugged ships AND the watch.

I have one, bought it new when I first heard about and have been absolutely in love with it ever since. I'm considering getting it PVD coated in all black to put the "Me" into that watch. I have only one gripe about the watch: Every time I look in my watchbox to see what I want to wear that day, it always wins and the other watches are getting upset.

I had an early turtle I bought in Singapore in the late '70s, but lost it, so on seeing an as-new blue SRP053 (black rubber strap) on sale in a secondhand shop for ¥38,000 (about USD$330) decided to try it. It is a 2017, @ ¥110,000 incl. tax on the original receipt that came with it. I don't snorkel any more but still swim, and it seems quite natural on my wrist (180cm) while swimming. It is a very nice-looking watch. Will look for a blue rubber strap for it. Best wishes from Japan.

Hello, great and fun video as usual. I'd like to ask you a question: What are your thoughts on Edox watches? I've been seeing them and they look beautiful. Many years ago my brother got this antique Edox watch, he found it on the street and who knows where the thing is now (he lost it). Watching your videos reminded me of that brand and I think that will be my next watch to get (I just started a watch collection from the bottom, with an all black Citizen Ecosphere).

There's a minor scratch on the bezel at 7:57 and I think like many Seiko's divers, it's a tad too big. I'd have many more Seiko divers if they were in the 39-41mm range. As it is, the only Seiko diver I have is the baby tuna, which is an exception to the rule due to the unique shroud design. The SKX013 is overpriced now. I have a 6.5+ inch wrist, and after owning a 44.5mm diver I've concluded I'll never buy a watch that big again. Mostly due to the 52mm lug to lug, but also due to the diametre. Maybe this one being slightly smaller, will just about fit properly. A NATO strap is a great way to make a slightly too large watch wear okay.

Kudos for an honest review. One hesitation I had with the partnership with the WatchBox was a potential lack of objectivity; having a robust and varied list of negatives asserts your objectivity and lets us know your integrity is intact. Also - thanks for the ‘drilled lug’ shout-out. People (for some reason) hate drilled lugs... people who wear watches and change straps LOVE drilled lugs.

@@petershallis2294 I had a chance to get one for $2500 and had the money at the time, but, I said to myself, "I'm not about to spend that kind of money on a Seiko!". Now, I kick myself because, literally within a week and a half of that decision, I realized my fascination with the 62mas had developed into it possibly being my favorite watch of all. Now, I have a beautifully modded 7s26-0040, and an SBDC053 with retro hand set and Uncle Seiko waffle strap.

As an international audience, I like the new style of filming as I get additional content out of a single video (now I need to add the naval yard to my must-see whenever I get a chance to go to the US).
One question: does the bracelet wear large for your wrist? I have a similar size wrist and I’m interested to get one with the bracelet but I’m concerned about the lug to lug and whether if wearing it on the bracelet makes it even larger.

I went for the SBDC055. One of those may have the flair you’re after. Thanks for the great video. There’s something really nice about sharing appreciation for Seiko watches that I thoroughly enjoy.
I just revisited this video. The composition is a bit weird. You are very positive and complimentary towards the watch until right at the end, where you say you don't really like it.

Another great review TGV. After initially running at -2s a day, mine has now settled in at -0.1s a day, so it's as accurate as my F91W and GW5610. The lume is bright and long lasting, even better than my SKX. Surprisingly, it wears smaller than my SKX as it 'appears' to have a lower profile. I didn't like the bracelet at first, but it has grown on me and now I love it. For daily use, I wear it on a Seiko silicon strap. This one is a keeper
