    Thanks for being so spirited about both of these. I've had my M40 for about 6 months now and really broke it in well and have so much confidence driving it. Test drove an X3M comp the other week and didn't like it more - it really does take that highly specific buyer to choose the X3M comp over the M40. I wouldnt trade mine for the full M as crazy as it sounds.
    A stage2 map, high flow cat and running 93 on an M40 makes them very special and concerningly fast cars.

    • @VictorPitstop
      @VictorPitstop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Of course! I just have love driving and try to find the great in everything I drive!
      In regards to the M40i, what you save over a full-blown M is substantially more than enough to modify it more than anyone needs! It’s more of a platform to really work with out of the box than just an insane weapon from the factory! I really love the M40i as it stands but have been seeing a lot of people start to modify them tastefully! Hold onto that beast and love it ever so much!!

    got my x3m yesterday.....omg, what a vehicle.....i feel like a rockstar driving it......i also drove a 911 4s and this car is the same speed which says a ton, i drove a 911 turbo s and a bit faster, not worth the 100k bump in price at all......so i wanted a porsche, but expensive, could not be happier with this car, it fills all my needs for comfort and speed, it is crazy fast, i can do a stage 1 tune for 1k and bring it up to 600hp, don't know if ill do it, it so fast as is........treat to get in it everyday, feel privileged to drive and have it.......
    the ride so many people complain that it is a tough ride, only on the worst choppy roads is it a bit jarring, but it's worth it for the rest of the performance. the ride in the porsche is a bit better, than really balance agility and rough roads really well, but again not worth for me anyway the 3x price and not faster........love it.

    I was originally dead set on buying either the m40i or x3m, ended up going with an x5 40i because when loaded they have 7 series levels of luxury and amenities that arent offered on the g01 while keeping all the b58 fun. Running a p800 turbo, 200 cell dp, hpfp on e40, ots bm3 tune for now. Would highly recommend the g05 if you want more of a premium highway destroyer daily than a trackable daily.

      G05 is great. Took me a while to get used to the floaty dead zone on the steering but a great car nonetheless. They can still rip and it’s very funny when you have a luxury SUV that can absolutely carve when needed. If I had the need for a bigger but not too big SUV, the X5 would be the play!

      The X3 M40i is plenty good! It’s an SUV with sports-car tendencies! The M/Competition is A LOT for an every day drive; what I mean by that is that everything is cranked up on the volume. The brakes, the sound, the suspension, the engine and transmission are all super intense!

    Nice Video! Seems like x3m has less body roll than x3m40i, but does this particular x3m40i have the m sport differential (2T4) option upgrade or not? And would the 2T4 option help with minimizing body roll when cornering or aggressive lane change?

    • @VictorPitstop
      @VictorPitstop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! X3M does indeed have a much flatter cornering characteristic; the bushings, stronger rebound stiffness and thicker sway bars help that. That M40i did not have the sport differential. The sport differential will help with rotation but not the body roll. If you get an M40i, thicker sway bars will help flatten the cornering roll! How this helps!

    I have pondered this question. I have two kids, I have the desire for something just like this. Transitioning from the X3 M, into the m40i on BMW day I really didn't think the extra entry cost of the M was worth it VS the m40i. Just to throw another curveball, if you can get away with medium car sized dad life, the X2 m35i is a hoot for heavy nose cars. That car felt rowdy to me even after driving an X3MC, and an M40i.

    • @VictorPitstop
      @VictorPitstop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate that and hope you enjoy your new ride as much as I enjoy them! Just no speeding on the street, ever! (😜)
      In regards to your concern: I have been working on getting access to the local track here in Austin hence my very low volume of videos. Auto cross is definitely not the way to do these reviews; a track is. I am trying to convey the driving experience vicariously instead of just talking about the design language of a car and it’s ‘quirks and features’. I am also not a big fan of the local AutoX as it is an arduous process to wait around in the Texas heat for 4-6 hours just to run for a total of 4-5 minutes of total driving time.
      I will absolutely eventually take it to the track however people don’t realize it’s not a simple task. I’ll be brief as possible but the cost is expensive ($3k initial buy-in and $300/month for said track).
      TH-camrs need to start somewhere; just think of the all of the famous youtubers that are actually driving aggressively but you don’t see them doing it considering the camera is facing them. Obviously I am very, very far away from that caliber of TH-camr and may never get there but until then, I will continue to pour my heart into this and do what I love more than anything: driving. Again, I promise I will produce these videos every time on the track when I get there, it’s just hard to spend a lot money on a hobby like this!
      I really do appreciate the input and again, enjoy your new car!!

      Very true; the rear-wheel biased setup is better for a little more rotation for the drivers that can handle it. I enjoyed Quattro and overall it’s a good predictive system compared to the reactive system of xDrive. I personally prefer xDrive as someone who hoons a bit more.

    The X3M is a real M though - they feel like different cars to drive and the LCI has greatly softened the ride in the X3M removing that as an issue. For me though, they nailed the suspension. The engine is completely different too - lazy drive with torque everywhere = M40i, high revving fun engine that wants to be revved all the way out = X3M. Want to tune effortlessly to 640hp = X3M. I’ve been racing karts/cars (spec Miata’s) for years and even the most experienced drivers make mistakes. When you make a mistake on the street you are endangering more people than yourself. What if you lost control and ran into one of those houses? Or a kid runs into the street? Or you hit a poll and kill everyone in the car besides you?Not sure why you need 3 people in the car with you.
