Hiya folks! This one covers the last part for the 8.1 Horde War Campaign, continuing Vol’jin’s search for who told him to make Sylvanas Warchief.
Again, a big thank you to everyone who’s been patient with me on being late with some of these uploads.

I mean. It's obviously N'zoth that told him that. And old gods are extremely powerful and smart. Don't you think N'zoth would predict almost everything that could happen. Destroying the world isn't exactly a 1 day job. If they made him know everything when he got resurrected the plot woulf be really weird. Next patch is named wrath of Aszhara so for them to make N'zoth the focus would just be retarded.
Destroying the world isnt N'zoth goal, his main purpose, just like the other old gods, is to corrupt titan world-souls like Azeroth for the voidlords altho i am sure that he also wants to bring back the black empire, especially since he is the last one alive and could rule all by himself

Yshomatsu the Black Empire. Look at Ahn’Quiraj or Azjol-Nerub. Swarms of the Old God’s monstrosities fighting for power seemingly mindless to thought, or reason. Yet, the swarms are extremely well organized in purpose. Driven by the Old God who is considered the hive mind of the particular swarm in question.
All the "Death Gods" are just like: "Vol'jin gtfo".

Remember when Bolvar being the Lich King was supposed to be a secret to the entire world? Now we just casually beam up to him for advice and what not.
The leaders and players are aware of him. Not the general public. For Legion it was the Ebon Blade that moved. An Order that was generally known under the leadership of the Death Knight that betrayed the Lich King.
Pretty sure the general public has no talent for beaming up places, but you certainly earned bolvar's respect enough to do it.

I still miss him everyday. He is my favorite character and I think he got the short end of the stick while he was warchief. Weak ass storyline for him
Same goes for the Old Horde characters, Pre-Cata Thrall, Cata Garrosh, Vol'jin, Cairne, I miss them all, and Blizzard got rid of them sadly. That's why I put some stock in Saurfang but I don't see him doing much against Sylvanas' THICC plot armor.

I am just glad they're giving Vol'jin a proper story. When he was Warchief you FORGOT he was warchief until he died in Legion!!! He seriously became WarCheif and than DIED right after! So for him to have closure is nice to see!
Yep, unfortunately his reign began at the end of MoP and into WoD, and WoD was a mess of its own. And by Legion they kill him off so I guess they're trying to make up for it.

I heard that they originally did not intend to kill him off in Legion, as he did not die in the earliest Alphas - but there was too much backlash for Varian dying and not Vol'jin, so they changed it. Big mistake, imho - and I'm an Alliance player.
Vol'jin wandering around who whispered to him made me think of that children's book, "Are you My Momma?"
I have such a deep love for Vol'jin and have high respects for him. I found it was severely unjust they made him Warchief and then kill him off in Legion, but I am grateful that they are giving him a proper storyline in this expansion. I wish to see more.

I'm as hardcore ALLIANCE player as there is, but man, I got a ton of love and respect for Vol'Jin. He is just really impossible not to love. He may have not wanted to be WC of the Horde but imo, he was one of the BEST the Horde EVER had. I actually miss him.
Pretty much all of the main OG Horde heroes (Thrall, Cairne, Saurfang, Eitrigg, Vol'jin, etc.) were impossible not to love. In WC3 Thrall and his companions took the Horde from being clownish two-bit villains to a relatable and immensely likeable rag-tag band of misunderstood underdogs. Too bad about what's happened to most of them now...
It's a common theme with the classic characters in Warcraft and WoW, horde or alliance. The way they were developed, voiced, designed, etc. It's a formula that they can't reproduce exactly nowadays. But there's some new characters that are great, but the classics will always be the best simply because of how they were made and developed.
@@Athelarius That's true to an extent - I guess it reflects WC3's tone and storytelling ambitions more than anything - once Alliance and Horde were pitted against one another in WoW for gameplay reasons writing out most of the sensible characters was always going to be a given. What is Thrall doing nowadays anyway? The Thrall from WC3 would never ever let his people suffer under the leadership of Sylvanas.

Ok since everybody seems completely lost im gonna give you guys a little hint: Whatever it is that put Sylvannas in charge, is something that dosen't want the Void to win. Sylvannas plans are to turn everybody into undead, pretty much Lich King 2.0, and this was clearly stated in the comic "The 3 sisters". And her reazon of why, is because she thinks that, once everybody has ben turned into an undead bound to her will, there will no be wars ever again. Esentialy turning the world into an utopia of peace.... filled with nothing but walking rotting corpses....
If she gets to accomplish this, then the void would have lost, as they can't corrupt undead, or control them.
Now, im gonna add some shocking info that MAY hint even further to who is doing this.... One of N'Zoth whispers in the coming patch says:
"The light has struck a bargain with the enemy of all"
The enemy of all is death, just in case you don't know.
In the 3 sisters comic, the void whispers in Alleria's mind went bersek almost... Urging her to kill Sylvannas ASAP and save the world. The void does NOT want Sylvannas alive.
"This one is dangerous. She is a threat and must be ended. Beware this one! She seeks the death of all things... all posibilities. End her threat. Murder her, murder her, save yourself, and murder her. Save the world and murder her!"
Excelllent summary. I'm also straying away from N'zoth not only because it's too obvious but because the Void doesn't have much to gain from a servant of Death, as you mentioned earlier. Now I did originally think it was a higher entity from the Void, but you got a point with the quote "The light has struck a bargain with the enemy of all". So maybe the hand of valor Eyir mentioned was indeed the one who whispered Voljin as well? The light made a pact with Death to counter the Void? But I still think those would be separate forces (i.e who whispered and who brought back). Interesting stuff. Thanks again for the summary and insight!
@@Athelarius Whatever did whisper Vol'jin can't be the same that brough him back, as to have him back threatens Sylvannas position as warchief. By that i mean, that, making everybody know that Vol'jin was manipulated to make her warchief, kinda paints her now as an illegitimate warchief. Also besides that, even if we ignore that fact, is pretty obvious that once we find out what is realy the deal wit her being on charge, it will put her on the sight of everybody, and will leave her in a realy bad spot.
Also, because of Vol'jin's return, the reazons for every other horde leader to dislike her have increased, as we find out she upsets the balance, and that she is murder hungry.
I don't have a theory yet of who brough him back, but i doubt it was the same that whispered him to make Sylvannas warchief.
Well the problem is that the void/light/burnin legion are cosmic level threats because they fight and influence many planets. Sylvanas has yet to shown she wants to conquer more planets and actually show any threat towards the void.If the case was like the illidari , or the arm of the light qhich go to other planets and do their part then you would be propably right but why would the voud care for one single planet? There are other and sylvanas doesnt care for them , you could say in that plnet their is a world soul but there are others out there.
You want the answer as to why sylvanas threathen the void? Bad writing , with the fall of legion their is pretty much no threat for the voud and if we compare the horde with the burning legion ... well it is laughable , the devs just want to introduce one new enemy and show that the void cares.
The same happened with varian and the burning legion why would they admire him or care , in the instance of illidan which legion cared , he actually fought them in their own territory...
With few words what i want to say is that they to make it seem that what happens actually matters in a bigger scale , but if you see it from the world perspective it really doesnt.
What we know of the Lore is that there are many actors in the realm of death. Something more powerful might be what whispered to vol'jin. But I'd think vol'jins spirit, given the fact he has been "touched by the hand of valor", is actually brought back by a light-based entity. Probably the same thing that will play a role with Calia Menethil and who has some connection with the Naaru. We already know from the attempt to light-bind Illidan by Xe'ra, and supported by the new Maghar storyline with Yrel, that the light is not just benevolent of nature. Might be an introduction to a light vs death plotline later down the line/ in the next expansion. That's my guess at least.
You forgot to mention that one of the aspect of light is void or shadow. The void gods are an expression of the Na'aru in their light and pure form. They mask a dark side behind their light for light produces shadows. The Void gods are not the ultimate enemy in the universe of Warcraft and Azeroth but something with their sinister and dark side.
Bwonsamdi is by far my favorite character this expansion. The guy just cracks me up.

While on island expeditions, adventurers can discover a Ring of the Reefs that was granted to powerful kvaldir mistweavers by Helya herself. Sensing Helya's power on the ring, the adventurers bring it to Valdemar Stormseeker, who claims that Helya wasn't truly defeated and that she is now growing in power, saying "You cannot kill death!"
So it seems that Sylvannas still has a deal with Helya.

I have a big feeling that he'll become Loa. He is not undead nor damned (aka clean spirit?) , no one can do anything about his situation, except I have a feeling Bwonsambi has something to do with him. He'll likely want to get rid of him so he can keep the dominance as main Loa.

As far as I can recall, Death Knights deal with him back in Legion during the Class Campaign. Always glad to see the Lich King make a sneak peek into questlines here and there :D
He makes a cameo in the Fire Mage's quest for their artifact weapon as well. He's popping in here and there and everywhere ^^

You would be exceptionally pleased with the whole death knight campaign in Legion. It centers around their relationship with the new Lich King. He felt pretty prominent throughout for me. Though I imagine for everyone not a death knight he wouldn't seem to have much direct presence. A part of me did kinda worry though, since I spent the entire expansion basically making enemies out of most living factions that I wouldn't want to have as enemies in the long run. But I guess it means that when the time comes, I'll only have the choice to turn to the Lich King again.

I haven't played in a long time but I would imagine that it was N'Zoth.
N'zoth probably made him come back to his word state of neither living or dead. But I doubt an old God cares who's warchief

It most likely was an Old God, most likely N'zoth because he's been a big character in the story recently, but the other two are still technically alive. C'thun is getting a bubble bath is Azerite, Yogg'Saron is still active in Ulduar.

That's the problem when they moved his story to a side plot. we'll get little bits at a time. Most often when you get the next piece you've already forgotten what you've seen already. Unless someone makes videos and puts it all together once it's done of course

I've been thinking about this and to be honest. If Eyir doesn't have the juice to do whatever was done to Vol'jin then probably Odyn does and he seems to care a lot about valor and he favors strong fighters. I also agree with others that the whisper in Vol'jin's ear was probably one of the Naaru. Having Sylvanas as Warchief could have the effect of driving more people towards the light increasing their influence if nothing else.
But what if it was one of the actual gods that brought Vol'jin back? Elune would certainly be powerful enough to do it and is one of the only full deities we know about (The Warcraft Encyclopedia). Though Elune could be just a manifestation of Azeroth's power for all we really know and the mention of "full deity" in the encyclopedia could be nothing more than saying that from a cultural standpoint on Azeroth, Elune is one of the only full gods.
Lastly remember it was stated that the world soul in the planet was the most powerful one ever found (which is why everyone wants it so badly). I wouldn't put it past Azeroth herself being the one to bring him back considering how awake/aware she has been this expansion.

@@clay391 My bet is Yogg-Saron is the one who gave Vol'jin the vision (why the Lich King was suspected immediately after Bwonsamdi), Sargeras' sword let C'Thun escape from under Ahn'Qiraj, and they're working to free N'Zoth and finally corrupt Azeroth since she's already weak and bleeding from Sargeras.

I was so pissed that Vol'jin got taken out so quickly after being named Warchief. However, it looks like he might be back for round 2 in Shadowlands and more powerful than ever.
Well, Vol'jin was touched by demonic power at the time of his death, sooo i say, we know that the void and everything connected to it are scared from death, and who is the guy that hate void stuff and do everything to stop the void. Well it is the big buddy who we had locked away, Sargeras. So if he knew that he gonna fail, he had to ensure that there will be something or someone to defeat the void. And Sylvanas is capable to do that. It is just my theory.

I'm a Alliance player, but i absolutely respect the Horde. Not the Horde of Sylvanas, but the true Horde. The honorable one. The one that fight for the peace and not for power.

@@martinodonnell7096 -- I know whoever dawns the helmet comes under the influence of the Lich King, but Arthas and Bolvar have obviously operated differently as the Lich King. I am not under any influence that Bolvar has made the Lich King a "Good Guy", but I do believe the influence of the person who takes on the mantle does have some bearing on the Lich King's actions.

Only thing that remained in helmet is the darkness that made ner zhul loose his mind. And the ability to control the scourge.
It was Thrall. He can't just ask for the throne back, so he pulled together this long and winded plot so that Sylvannas would go power hungry, saurfang would defect, and come help/save thrall when sylvannas sent her lackeys to kill him. So that he can go back to the horde, and tak over as warchief again, and be a hero.
i was hoping voljin named sylvanas because he knew it would bring the true horde back together and get rid of the nasties. ;)

I hate how they Garrosh 2.0'd Sylvannis. Shows Blizzards ability to write/see Horde as more than baddies hasn't improved
It's a neat little attention to detail how Talanji's eyes smoulder with that same smoky blue light that is seen in Bwonsomdi's eyes. A little reminder that her lineage is now bound to him.
