What I also do is using trading stations for mining. To create a big factory that produces high end products you usually need lots of different base materials. It can get complicated or hard to see how many miners you have for each resource (ore, silicon, ...). So, instead I create a trading station only trading ore with my own faction and all ore miners are working for that station only. This way I can just click on that station and see that I have 40 miners and 20 merchants working for ore for example. This way I can easily check the trading station and the high end factory whether I have enough miners or not. And if some miners get killed, I can easily and replace them. At least for me it makes building and managing large factories a lot easier.
Gonna steal some of your ideas thanks. Also how do you deal with harrasment that comes from Khaak and hostile factions? Sometimes my ships don't even pay for themselves and get destroyed. I moved to L miners/transporters but khaak can get them too after a while.
Large ships REQUIRES trade drones, it's not even possible to trade without drones and ships doesn't always get trade drones, so a L ship without drones and without drones on the station can't trade at all.

Stations can help with that too, when you put turrets on them :) or patrol fleets
@@TheRuggedGamer but there's no command to patrol ALL sector like it was in X3.
@pcgamingforevah you dont need to, you can patrol a certain area where your miners are.
@@TheRuggedGamer what's the best fleet setup for this? Destroyer alone seems too slow to do anything. Corvette or maybe a bulk of fighters is enough?
@pcgamingforevah a couple fighters and a medium ship usually solves the problem
