It's gone backwards in the last 30 years. Dry hops with two cars moving into stage was so entertaining. it's not all about times and speeds excitment is what brings the crowds. Bring back the 80's.
@skoczzy Yeah used to love to watch 'em do dry-hops.... unfortunately they were found to be too abusive to the modern multi-disc clutches. In addition, they also found that they had a little more running time (which they need to turn on the computer, and set the barrel-valve just before the run),as well as saving wear and tear on the rest of the drivetrain. Fuel is real expensive,too. T/C, VJ
Try going to Santa Pod for the FIA rounds nowadays They make this old shit look exactly what it was SLOW! and now we have even got those old fogey's the NFAA trying to take us back to the SLOW old days!!! they can get lost we want speed not some kind of playtime for old boys who cant cut it any more, so move over granddad's and give the track time to those who know who to put it to good use running modern equipment and proper numbers. Get real Harlan has never run a big number and never will!

The old drivers are still good. Chris Karamines is 81 and ran a 3.8 at 308mph over 1000ft. He runs as fast as younger drivers half his age.
