- Slick Gorilla Clay Pomade honest review. How does it work and is it any good? This hair clay pomade is supposed to have a high hold with a matte finish… but does it really? I tried the Slick Gorilla hair powder a while back and I thought it was great. Could this be another men’s hair product hit!? @@ManForHimself hey robin i tried slick girilla clay pomade it just doesn't work for me it doesn't have a matte finish and it tends to leave my hair greasy also i liked your hair better when they were shorter on the sides and on too but especially on the back that curly ending of the hair just doesn't look nice i think you need a haircut asap i'm not trying to hate to comment here just telling my honest opinion lastly i love your videos keep up the good work

Buckled at the “it’s not going to work for you… no, no, no”. Good so see some honest reviews of some affordable products. Can you review 11 Australia styling clay if you haven’t done so before?
I just tried the powder for the first time last weekend and it did absolutely nothing for me. I was really disappointed after having it recommended to me. I tried adding more and then even more but it didn't provide any hold. My hair is super thick and getting pretty long and heavy due to lack of a hairdresser. I'll give this pomade a go, I'm always on the look out for other products to try. Cheers.

Good review Robin. I really like the Slick Gorilla Lightwork because my hair is super thin and it gives it a fuller look without weighting it down. Would you say this clay pomade is similar at all to that or is it totally different?

That's sad that it didn't reach a Matte finish. Makes you think they should have added Kaolin Clay into the mix, as a couple extra grams worth, per tin/container.
I mean... hell, all you need is a double boiler. YOU could melt it down and add some additional bentonite, arrowroot, or kaolin, just to see what it does. Possibly that would GET IT where you'd want it to be.
I think... a review like that is something I'm interested in. Because... I find myself looking at the ingredients. Find Parabens and Paraffins, even masquerading as a perfuming agent, just because it smells good, but causes cancer, we get it as a "perfume". I also think, with some of them, I HAVE those ingredients. And I've made a variety of hair waxes, clays, etc.
I'd be interested in what YOU could come up with.
Like... YOU dipping your hand into actually making a recipe. And documenting each recipe. Each adjustment. Understanding each ingredient's role.
Anyhow... I think I can take you more seriously, without the mustache.

Awesome review! saved some money here. IHave you ever heard of Tancho? I love the product but hate the smell, it just smells cheap. Wonder if you know of any products with the same great hold and finish but without the aweful smell. Would love to hear your suggestion!

I also have about the same length like you but shorter and my question is which hold product will you recommend for fine hair and also the middle part of my hair naturally split so I’m trying to hold that top when I push my hair back. to be more specific I’m aiming for a flow style similar to Matthew Mcconaughey :) Thanks 🙏

I've got it months ago and to me, it wasn't that good, it didn't give me a strong hold and didn't give me the style that I want, my hair kept moving and it won't hold! Maybe it's just my hair that it didn't work with, but I consider it a light-medium hold product. Apothecary 87's Clay Pomade & By Vilain Dynamite Clay are way better. However, I'm looking forward to buy Kevin Murphy's Rough Rider & another clay from the Salon guy called Clutch XL and as long as you've reviewed these 2 products on your channel I hope you could tell me whether these products offer a way stronger hold than this so that I could know whether I should spend money on them or not

The Yuka app says that the powder is excellent. But the light work is rated as being poor. I’m not sure about the clay
Hey Robin, could you do a video on hair porosity, moisture, color, and texture? It's not talked about in men at all, but it's super important in hair of color. Also, it heavily affects how products interact with your hair beyond just the fine vs. coarse dichotomy. The only men's product that has protein are Blumaan's Cavalier/Fifth Sample, but women have all sorts of keratin/silk/wheat/etc products
Hey Faraz, can certainly do that.
Loads of men's products have protein (just not TH-camr products), i.e. Kevin Murphy. But, also remember, it doesn't have to say 'for men' on it in order for you to use it.
@@ManForHimself Of course, but generally I'm looking at stylers and prestylers only. Even without "for men" they tend to be in men's product lines. I'd be curious what other lines than Kevin Murphy have offerings on this

Personally find oil based clays to be strange. Hard to wash out, kind of heavy, give like a slick matte look. Rather a true pomade or water based clay.
