    So the American guy is making far too many excuses. Durban suited Ireland more than South Africa!!?? 😂😂 You are reaching to suggest that training in Pretoria prepared SA poorly for Durban. This is hilarious. Athletes go to altitude to train for competitions not at altitude. There is no merit to that argument and in any case, EITHER venue would have been more alien to Ireland.
    The truth is that an Ireland B team (missing 6 or 7 starters) beat the WC winning, most experienced Springbok side ever, in their back yard, with 11 men at a point! That’s the honest truth. As for looking back on ref calls, here are the links to the ref analysis on both games, by a South African by the way. On balance Ireland should have won the first game, whatever about the 2nd. So Springboks are very lucky overall.

      The altitude question was tongue in cheek. If anyone knows about playing rugby at altitude or not, it is us (me being a Bulls supporter and all).
      Interestingly, in SA a car develops 17% more power at the coast than on the Highveld because of the air. Not an engineer and turbo's less affected but it does play a role to a degree but the other way around. And it negates the advantage of altitude which has always been an SA thing.

    1. Get Sacha more game time. Phenomenal talent.
    2. Faff is past it. Start Williams.
    3. Most Irish fans who have a clue do not think Ireland is #1. We just believe we can compete with anybody when we are on our game.
    4. Cap David Kriel.
    5. Boks and SA pundits underestimated Ireland in the build up to the second test.

      SA are world champs and deservedly so but they only one their 3 knock out games by 1 pt. They didn't dominate anyone. They could've easily lost any of those 3 games. And they were playing against 14 for the majority of the final.
      People forget Ireland have only lost 3 of their last 24 (25?) games and this side never lose two big games on the trot. The Irish were not leaving without a win and they always play well when they're written off. The mid week confidence from the saffer pundits and fans played into the Irish players hands.

    Just a point on the Doris yellow card, Estebeth causes the incident by holding Mccarthy for a few seconds and preventing him from clearing the ruck, this leaves Doris on his own, who was not strong enough to move Marx, Ryan would not have been near that tackle, he was about 10 yards away and came in late, without the foul play from Eben, there would have been no card and SA would be 9 points lighter on the scoreboard. On the PTSD push by McCloskey, the ref clearly tells him 3 times that he was looking at it and trys to walk away, PTSD is hassling the ref and should have been carded. Really great chat and insights in this segment. I really like this pod and I look forward to it every week. I don't think the Boks have to be that despondent. Ireland is one of the world's best teams and they were fortunate to win it with a drop goal. Granted, South Africa should've controlled the game better at the end, but I think the loss of Willie and the inexperience of Sacha were factors. I think Sacha did very well for being thrown into the deep end 2 minutes into the game.
    Two main factors stand out for me in these two tests. Kwagga is not an 8 and he's an impact player. I think Hanekom will be the answer in the long run. Maybe have a look at Augustus? The other factor is Faf. The Boks played a lot better when Williams came on. When is the last time Faf played well? He was terrible the last test. Terrible kicking and terrible decision-making as well. Who the hell kicks the ball away 10m from their opponents' tryline? Terrible! There are more than enough decent scrummies playing in SA right now. Williams, Van den Berg and Papier are all better than Faf.

    I think at the beginning of the week Rassie thought he’d put one over on Ireland by naming the same team an action to try scare Ireland that SAs are some kind of super power. So Ireland all week with plenty of injuries and new players having to show up. Match day first 10 minutes the over tired SAs start falling like flies the rest of the bunch looked tired from the first test and heavy legged Ireland ran straight over them.
    SA and Rassie are trying to win games without playing. This was a test and a time to test the huge pool of players you have just 4 players would have freshened up SA but In believe Rassie has a very big ego and to me he messed up badly. Cmon it’s a test it’s for testing players. That’s my opinion and I think Andy wins the day.

    • @PB22559
      @PB22559 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed. Farrell with less resources and more injuries to key players still got more out of his players, some of them (like Blade at SH) were 4th/5th choice for Ireland.
      Rassie picking Kwagga at 8 turned out to be a mistake. He didn't play well at all and was totally outplayed by his opposite number- Doris. Kwagga's much better coming off the bench.
      I don't think saffers realise that Ireland always play well when they're considered the underdog. That's always been part of the Irish DNA. I'm assuming Rassie knew that from his time coaching in Ireland. Andy Farrell had a real go at his players for underperforming in the first test and losing the 2nd test was not an option for them. When sides are evenly matched, mentality is everything. I predicted Ireland would win this game. This team doesn't lose 2 games on the trot. I think they're only 3 losses from 24 games? The Boks needed a humbling after all the talk and they got it. They may be world champs but they're only 1 win from 5 games against Ireland.

    Maybe the South African's were stunned but I don't think anyone in the Northern Hemisphere was shocked. Remember Ireland lost their first game in New Zealand and then won the next two to win the series. Maybe the South Africans should be happy they only had two games and walked away with a draw. Imagine how you'd feel had you lost the series - I don't know if your national psyche could have handled it to be honest because the feedback from comments about the games suggest not. The Irish, had they lost, would have just learned from the experience and moved on. That's the difference between them.

During the Ireland game everytime Faf took the ball out of a ruck and did a kick to 22 you would see Irish players turn to run for the ball but as soon as they identified the catcher 3 or 4 Irish players would then stop dead around the catcher with their backs to the opposing side making almost like a fence so the opposition player wanting to contest for the high ball has to run around them. Is that allowed cause it happened a few times and I in no way want to diminish the Irish win I genuinely want to know. The full back had to make a super quick decision in taking that ball into touch near the end. Lowe was bearing down on it too but I think there was another Bok player there that would have taken Lowe into touch had he caught it. I would not blame Sacha too much for it but it did cost them the game. That drop out by Pollard was a gimme for a drop goal for Ireland as Frawley had so much time to kick it.. Really great decision by Ireland to go for it and gave Frawley the opportunity to strike again. I don't think the Boks were expecting the first drop goal as they were up by 5 so late and Ireland usually go for a try when behind by more than 3 near the end. Ryan probably deserved a red for that croc roll but he had a super game otherwise.

    To start off for me, gare play Ireland. We still nr 1 in the world on technology we won the series with 6 points😅. MW in our chats it was made very clear. It was a blood bath from the 1st whistle. Ireland had nothing to loose last game go go in go hard and inflict some pain.
    For me i would have played Evan Roos 1st, take out Salman and play kwagga off the bench. Salman did not even play on Saturday so waste of 6-2 bench space. Hat off to Eben that refuse to leave the game. That show grid and grind.
    2nd Faf should take a seat now. He had a terrible game. Faf need to move to nr 4 now krappies nr 3 for now Cobus nr 2 and Grant nr 1. Everything faf did just cost us more penalties. When Grant came on difference was seen immediately. Just look at is cheeky kick chased it down to Ireland's 22 and take out Osborne with the ball. Williams to me he is our nr 1 go to.
    Polly did well with general ice in veins but his attacking game was totally off. O would love to see now a Sacha and DW combo on 10 and 15.
    CLA and CK was taken out of play with marks on them. Willie was planned to be taken out because they new he was our play maker but the Sacha show Ireland he is not to be underestimate.
    Line out rugs with every collapse there was a Ireland player lying offside cause for bongi to trip of the player again planned. I take my hat off to the ref for watching the previous match and saw porter should be watched for pulling the scrum down. Best for me Steenekamp did not engaged in the Ireland trap that was set for early engagement in the scrum that stood out for me.
    I am of the believe the nr 5 and 8 should have got carded but new law states no debate red card straight. 2 went in with a plan knew what they were doing knowing Marx was a soft target for injury.
    Hate the fact that we dont have a 3rd game decider but at the end of the day a draw. World ranking we still on 94 and Ireland on 90.we still the nr 1 team in the world

Another day with another ref it might have been taken as a red or even two yellows. However, as a sports fan I never like to see a red card issued (for either team) as it more than likely destroys it as a contest and a win against a disadvantaged team isn't as sweet and will always have that caveat over it. I think Ireland probably were a little bit lucky in this particular case but they had some other decisions go against in the first test , so it probably balances out really. Most Bok fans have been gracious as has Rassie. If he really felt aggrieved he's not shy about letting people know.

Their 15 caught EVERY high ball that we tried to retrieve...our short wings could not catch/retrieve any high balls. One high ball by them was not even nominated & bounced before being caught!

    Klip in die bos:
    So we appoint an assistant coach from NZ to come and teach us a new dimension of rugby tactics. In the first test of this tactic, the feared, rock solid reigning WC champion team, looks confused and uncertain. The proven link-up between Faf and Pollard misfires. Pollard looks out of sorts, and not just in his goal kicking. The much vaunted machine around scrums and breakdowns gets dissipated by the flanks running off to the back line.
    Tony Brown isn't here to teach. He is here to learn the Springbok way. I'm willing to bet he'll be back with the All Blacks as chief coach by the next World Cup.
    For now, let him prove his revolutionary ideas with the u-20 Baby Boks. If it proves to be the road to Damascus, we can draw talent from there into the Springboks for 2027.

    Lads i get the point about Durban, but the Springboks media, Rassie et al did the biggest and best marketing job for this tour that I have seen in history. The whole no. 1 title thing, Irish arrogance, revenge for WRC group match. It was like the promotion of an MMA fight. It was the first time I’ve seen an opposition team booed onto a pitch ffs. You may think all this was to stoke the rivalry but the reality is sport tourism. Irish fans travel but they like to travel to nice places. So sticking a game in the most foreboding place where there is no sun and shit beer isn’t a great idea for that money maker. Asking your boys to play better is.

      I think this ties into your MMA narrative. I think the hype has been drawing the wrong (non-rugby) crowd and that is where that behaviour comes from. I personally think Rassie has to calm down with the mind games. No-one is falling for it anymore.

    I think rassie and co tried to use mind games way too much & had some degree of reliability on how hostile the crowds would be. I can’t speak for all of ireland but making fun of our zombie since the WC when it was written for innocent dead children, dj playing emotional damage when Crowley missed . Dj hyping up the crowd when Casey was knocked out. I can’t have imagined any of that went down well with irish players. Andy Farrell doesn’t really like the media side of things at all and what you see what you get. Ireland only plays in Dublin because of the agreement with aviva . Sponsorship and financially and think of it logically. It’s an extremely small country

    • @megafoonsport
      @megafoonsport  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The DJ at Loftus is a problem, even for us. Took the crowd out of the game in the URC final as well. We want a game of rugby, not a disco.
      I think the gamesmanship from our side is a bit over the top. It's nice (funny) when it happens but when the shoe is on the other foot, we don't like it. Referring to both Rassie selecting an Irish team and the crowds here.
      Wrt to the Zombie / Rassie song: I hear you and I respect that but weren't the Irish the first to sing it at a rugby match? I think the Rassie version came about as a result of thát game in the RWC and how we felt that night, hearing that being sung. Devastated. Not an excuse but an explanation

    • @SmcdMcd-d2k
      @SmcdMcd-d2k หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@megafoonsport no sorry ireland has been singing zombie for years, particularly at Munster:. ITS OUR SONG. Not yours. We can sing it whenever we want, saffas thought it was a personal attack on them: if they had taken 2 seconds to google the words they would have maybe kept their mouth shut. Or actually considerering how disrespectful they have been all year and through the series , they probably would have made it worse. Make fun of a song that was written about innocent children dying … then you get hand handed Karma, boo a kicker and play emotional damage when he misses. Then you get to lose at the death with a drop goal. Ireland stadiums don’t behave like that . Maybe you should follow suit

      Fair play about Zoimbie.
      As far as the crowd is concerned, we mentioned somewhere else that the hype may be drawing the wrong (non-rugby) audience. I suspect that is where the booing is coming from.
