Just arrived home after an amazing 10 day rugby trip to SA. Like Tim my first time and loved it...thank you to all the wonderful Saffas I met, for your beautiful hospitality, your beautifful countryside, wonderful food. I was at both tests as well as Sin City, stayed in Pilensberg National Park and finally Durban. I LOVE brandy and meat so couldnt have been more at home. I was astonished and moved by the passion people have for their team and the deep love for rugby that Saffas carry. I was at several local matches.Trip of a lifetime...thank you SA from an utterly exhausted and grateful Irish fan.

Or has immigrated and knows why they stay. And for all of us who stay here not because we have to but because we want to. This is for you. 🇿🇦

As a kiwi. I've visited SA a couple of times as my wife is a Saffa. It is such an amazing country. The people are great the landscape, the wine, etc. Are amazing. Sadly, the people running it are running it into the ground. A place with so much potential.
With you 1000% Tim. Came to SA from UK for 2 years in 1968 and still here. Love everything about this country, especially the way that rugby unites us all. Fabulous place to live despite our sh** reputation. B....old now so l will die here.

Tim's humbleness and honesty is unparalleled. And that will surely elevate this channel to greater heights. You deserve a South African name. And next time you visit, tell everyone you're now named: Themba.
The EggMaster has been chasing the egg all the way to Springbok land and now he cracked it. He knows what we know. Thank you Tim. You are now EggMaster and Honorary Ambassador of South Africa. You and your family will always be welcome here.
Thanks for affording us the honour to host you Tim. So glad you had a good time here. Yes - this country is different in so many ways and boy, we have our problems, but I dont want to live anywhere else. Difficult to describe exactly what it is, but something about SA is just magic.
“Africa changes you forever, like nowhere on earth. Once you have been there, you will never be the same. But how do you begin to describe its magic to someone who has never felt it? How can you explain the fascination of this vast, dusty continent, whose oldest roads are elephant paths?” - Brian Jackman. No matter how often you return, you will always yearn to come back! I enjoyed your posts very much! Make sure whether you are allowed to take biltong to the UK. The last time I took it, they confiscated it at the airport at customs.
If confiscated, There are South African shops, (I visited one in London), in the UK who supply the essentials of South Africans like biltong and Mrs Balls.
Absolutely no reason to feel embarrassed Tim. I visited SA in '95 and it blew me away. The people, the food but especially the magnificent countryside. Once Africa touches you, it will never leave you. Thanks for all the excellent content for the last 10 days or so. Top work as ever. 😉👏
As a South African, I am feeling so proud and so honoured to be a SAFFA today! Thank you for your kind words, Tim. I am so glad that you were welcomed with open arms and that you had such a fantastic experience here in SA, especially our hometown, Durban - which is so often overlooked by foreigners. You will LOVE Cape Town as well. But thank you for sharing your experience with your subscribers, Rugby truly is the passport!!!!
As an Irish fan I vicariously enjoyed the tour through your eyes and got to see a bit of that wonderful country. Also rugby coverage not too bad either 😄👍
As an Englishman who has lived in SA for the last 14 years, your comments really resonated with me. I was laughing at your brandy comments, it took a while for me to adjust to the brandy drinking! South African's are really friendly people and this country has so much beauty. It is crazy to me that the country seems to do a poor job of selling itself for tourism because.... well, your videos do the talking. Thank you for that. Glad you enjoyed yourself and looking forward to seeing your follow up videos and your trip to Cape Town.
As a tour operator in Jozi and South Africa, all I can say is ngiyabonga, dankie, enkosi, kea leboga, thank you, SHAP. Please let us go show you Soweto!
Thank YOU sir for giving the world this video. I actually got emotional listening to you describe our wonderful country . As far as I'm concerned you are a part of OUR family now. Sending you love from South Africa brother !!
Thank you for your kind words, Tim. South Africa will always welcome you with open arms. Looking forward to your Cape Town leg in Aug. You'll never tire of our beautiful country.
Tim, your words have made a jaded Saffa happy and made me think again about all the wonderful things we have here. That in no way disparages the special things that other countries have. But you have inspired me to take my young family out to see our beautiful mountains, eat our amazing food and engage with my fellow citizens. It’s so easy to get stuck in the work rut, do the same things everyday and not see the value we have in our environment, and the value we can find in our brothers and sisters. Thank you for your kinds words and inspiration. Come over for dinner when you come back, my family will cook you some of the best steak around or a curry that will make you feel like a lion that ate a whole eland when you are finished!
Tim, you’re an absolute class human being. Don’t worry we all get emotional when we talk about our beautiful South Africa. You are a MASSIVE asset to the global rugby community. You deserve all the good things coming your way. Thank you 🙏🏻
We have gad a rugby coup, it's taken 18 months, but a 1 man team has taken the rugby podcast world by storm... he has done this with a love and passion for the game, and q balanced and respectful view at all times... well done Tim, thanks for visiting SA and safe travels home...👌👌👏👏👏
@at7512 the guy is a professional radio DJ in the UK by profession. His name is Tim Cocker. Been working in media for many years. He is a presenter on BT sports as well He is also a public speaker. Presenting comes naturally to him so transitioning over to a TH-cam rugby channel comes naturally to him.he does it very well and effortlessly with his media training. He was a semi pro rugby player for 12 years so knows the game inside out
Thanks for your kind words. We have enormous problems with poverty and crime but we try hard. While we are fighters we are also believers in the healing power of love.😊
Sad to see the honorary South African leave. Thank you for making the trip and show casing South Africa to the world As the lyrics from the "Toto" song "Africa" goes.. "It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do I bless the rains down in Africa" Safe journey ❤❤❤❤❤❤
We're blessed to have you as supporter of what we have to offer. But dont ever be afraid to be critical of our country and our rugby and teams. We have a tendency to love the praise, but don't often self-reflect. Our best friends should also be our toughest critics. That's how we grow our game and our country.
As an AB supporter. Much respect to SA because of our long and illustrious love for the sport, which is rugby. We've experienced together the tough times. Tim kind of adds iceing to the cake. 😂😂
This tour has been your best work yet, I genuinely felt that i was with you. Your rugby knowledge is incredible and the short clips with the locals was amazing. I have never wanted to visit SA, now it is on my bucket list.
You now officially have South Africa running through your veins. It is a very special place. My home is KZN and your clip has made me very emotional. I miss home. 🇿🇦
@EggchasersRugby 2:21 - here I am. The idiot who forgot to take a pic with you. You're a legend sir. Thank you for the kind words about SA. As you've learned while watching the Chasing The Sun doccies, and probably while you were around, is that the country and people are beautiful, although we have our issues. Please make sure you bring along the family during one of your future visits, I'm certain they'd love it. My wife has been laughing at me this whole time cos im doing backflips here at being recognized. 😂😂 Still a facepalm for not taking a pic. Thanks for coming, have a safe trip. We all look forward to more content about your time in the bush. God bless you.
Frontline people, who deal directly with visitors to our country, and leave impressions on them like you did ... you are the real wealth of the country, its most precious resource. You are no less a hero than our beloved Boks.
Thank you for loving our country and especially Durban. KZN has had rough 3 years so seeing it through your eyes has reminded us what a special place it still is! All the best!
Hey Tim, I can relate to everything you said. Being French-Moroccan and married to a South African changed my whole life. I discovered a wonderful country from the first day. The people are really friendly, and I embraced the rugby culture here, significantly improving my knowledge of the sport. I learned a lot about the diversity of this country, and I still feel that I have so much more to discover I think visiting the western cape is going to take you to another level.
To understand the excessive passion for rugby here, it must be understood in view of the pain of the past & the great complexity and troubles of our shared history. That we are turning a corner & the game that once divided a nation has now become the catalyst for healing and redemption. It is the one 'language' that is uniting us in a way that we all recognise because we can see that working together can work, and it is cataclysmic.
I have watched your channel since the WC and you are an absolute gentlemen Tim…. So glad you felt what is means to be South African. Safe travels my friend!
My daughter is 16 and desperately wants the family to move back to the UK where she was born. My husband and son were raving about this video, and she says in the car on the way to school this morning ... "I can't believe this Tim guy spends 3 weeks in South Africa, posts a video and ruins all the good progress I've made to convince the family to move!" ...thank you, Tim 😂
On Monday I met Mark Keohane in Cape Town, had a lekker chat. The guy is truly a gentleman. I suggested they invite Tim to their podcast when he is back for the Championship. Travel safe back home, you can be assured you have left an indelible impression on us. Really looking forward to your second return😂😂😂. Big kudus to all South Africa who hosted Tim, you are the real ambassadors of our country. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Hey Tim, your South African series was 10/10 👍🏻 I’m not even much of a rugby fan but since I started following you at the start of the World Cup, I have fallen back in-love with the game - thanks and can’t wait to have you back 💪🏻
Tim, I'm so glad you go to enjoy the best of SA. I was on a flight from JHB to London on the day after the Bulls knocked out Leinster of the URC. I had your post match review saved on my phone to watch on the flight, but as I boarded I saw at least 3 other people on the plane watching that same video as I walked passed them to find my seat. I'm so glad you're getting the appreciation you deserve for your hard work, mate. Safe Flight tonight!
Thank you for this mention, about 50km from my hometown Keimoes, absolutely stunning. I tell all my colleagues and friends to visit this gem - from the moonrock to the wildlife.
Haven't shed as many tears since Terms of Endearment. Got back to civilisation Tim, rest up, take a break from 'breaking news'. You are officially the hardest working man in show business, fair play.
Safe journey home, Tim. You have represented our country (England) well, whilst being a guest in another country thoroughly embracing a different culture, being respectful & proving yourself to be a true English gentleman. We are as proud of you as the South African's evidently are 🏴🇿🇦🏴🇿🇦🏴🇿🇦🏴🇿🇦🏴🇿🇦🏴🇿🇦
Hi Tim. It's okay to feel emotional. South Africa is a special country. We look forward to having you back. You will love Cape Town. We love our sport and you love sport. Cape Town is a beautiful City. With lots to see. You must bring your family with you. They will love it. Also the Pound has more value than the Rand so everything will be a bargain for you and your family. Safe trip home.
"...be like wild dogs". When Rassie said that in Chasing the Sun, every South African knew exactly what he meant. I am so glad that you are getting to connect those dots and are able to then share it with the non South Africans who also watched chasing the Sun. We lost the second test against Ireland but there is so much depth not only to the talent in South Africa but to the background story of every single player that you cannot even count that as a loss. The documentary only produced snippets of the backstory reality for many of the star players and hence why "hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie" rings so true for every person in this country. It kills me that out country is a slave to its own factional idealogy. I am so glad that you have been able to showcase the best of the country and when you head to Cape Town you are in for a real treat Tim. Keep doing what you do, you are fast becoming THE ambassador for Rugby and for South Africa!!
Youre a legend. Walked past you a bunch of times in umhlanga, you were with mates so wouldnt interupt but this makes us emotional. We love our country and are so proud of what we have and just so happy for the world to see!
Tim, I was as blown away as you were. I've never been to a Bok game in my life. Been to a few Sharks games back in their glory days in Super Rugby and that was a vibe... The Bok game was something special. One of the best experiences of my life. The whole build up on the field, drinking from 11AM, to the atmosphere while you walk through the gates, the game itself and the amazing after parties! Must tip my hat to the Irish. You guys are phenomenal! Every Irish person we met was nothing but friendly, and appreciative of all the good gestures. Great banter and great fun. Ireland is now my back up team for sure. There was one young oke who was just crying while hugging his Irish flag. There were plenty a South African fan congratulating the Irish after the game and buying each other beers. If it wasn't for my Liver, I would do that every weekend if I could. What an incredible day. Cheers Tim, travel safe!
Tim, It was an absolute pleasure having you in SA. Thank you for visiting us and for sharing your experience with us. I was constantly on the lookout for your next video. Imagine for a second what this country could be like if the politicians stopped mucking about. Safe travels and see you next month.
Thank you Tim for setting the bar globally as a rugby podcaster. I'm so glad that you got to see a few things in SA. I'm 66 years old and I'm still exploring my own country with excitement. Still so much to do and see. Still so many people to meet. I've traveled all over the world but I'm always most excited to come home. So happy that we could share this with you.

Man you make me miss my country 😢 its like you said, there is something with South Africans and the Springboks that you cannot explain or begin to make sense of it. The boks mean everything good about SA they represent us like no other can, just listen again at that rendition of our national anthem in Pretoria, just goosebumps. We support them win or lose and congratulations to Ireland on a grate series. When the ABz come over its going to be even more intense.

As an Irish fan I vicariously enjoyed the tour through your eyes and got to see a bit of that wonderful country. Also rugby coverage not too bad either 😄👍
Mate now you know what we know. Thank you for loving our people. You are always welcome.
Eventually.... Tim knows what we know, as he truly experienced it!!! 😂❤🇿🇦
Thank you for visiting South Africa. Safe travels & all the best Tim. 👍🏻
Thank YOU sir for giving the world this video.
I actually got emotional listening to you describe our
wonderful country .
As far as I'm concerned you are a part of OUR family now.
Sending you love from South Africa brother !!
Welcome home Tim.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I heard your name on radio today, ONLY good news. Your respected in S.A. and loved..
@at7512 best comment!!
Thank you for making the trip and show casing South Africa to the world
As the lyrics from the "Toto" song "Africa" goes..
"It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa"
Safe journey ❤❤❤❤❤❤
If I remember correctly it was our theme song 99 or 2003 RWC? Castle being the sponsor.
We're blessed to have you as supporter of what we have to offer. But dont ever be afraid to be critical of our country and our rugby and teams. We have a tendency to love the praise, but don't often self-reflect. Our best friends should also be our toughest critics. That's how we grow our game and our country.
Fun Fact - SA was voted the most friendliest country in the WORLD. Now you've seen it.
BS 😂.
Was that vote taken in North Korea?
Just don't open your windows at the traffic lights... or stop for that matter!
@@Rugby-union-and-league you kiwi trolls have definitely been seething hard in silence seeing Tim's footage of South Africa.
@@Rugby-union-and-league o saffas are definitely friendlier than kiwis thats for sure. NZ is such a depressing place.
Thank YOU!
Well guess what..in a few weeks time Tim will be at OR Tambo again. Go and meet him and dont forget to take a pic...and thank you for being you! ❤
Frontline people, who deal directly with visitors to our country, and leave impressions on them like you did ... you are the real wealth of the country, its most precious resource. You are no less a hero than our beloved Boks.
@@LittleBigMediaCo Thank you. ❤️🔥
@@LittleBigMediaCoWhat a lovely comment to your fellow countryman 😊
Thank you for loving our country and especially Durban. KZN has had rough 3 years so seeing it through your eyes has reminded us what a special place it still is!
All the best!
Irish South African here. Glad you enjoyed it here. Africa gets under your skin and won't let go. ABs in August is going to be tough but epic.
SO DIFFERENT ❤❤🇿🇦🇿🇦
Thank you Tim,there is nothing South Africans love more than rugby and taking care of our international guests ❤
Yes, then theres BILTONG , BRAAIVLEIS, BRANDY AND THE BUSH... ❤🇿🇦
Hey Tim,
I can relate to everything you said. Being French-Moroccan and married to a South African changed my whole life. I discovered a wonderful country from the first day. The people are really friendly, and I embraced the rugby culture here, significantly improving my knowledge of the sport. I learned a lot about the diversity of this country, and I still feel that I have so much more to discover
I think visiting the western cape is going to take you to another level.
She's only 16
Yeah, Webb Ellis chose a really good place to call home 👍🏼😂
Nice having you Tim … safe travels
On Monday I met Mark Keohane in Cape Town, had a lekker chat. The guy is truly a gentleman. I suggested they invite Tim to their podcast when he is back for the Championship.
Travel safe back home, you can be assured you have left an indelible impression on us.
Really looking forward to your second return😂😂😂.
Big kudus to all South Africa who hosted Tim, you are the real ambassadors of our country. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Hey Tim, your South African series was 10/10 👍🏻 I’m not even much of a rugby fan but since I started following you at the start of the World Cup, I have fallen back in-love with the game - thanks and can’t wait to have you back 💪🏻
From one Saffa to another……thanks Tim. Keen to see you back here soon. Always welcome🇿🇦
Augrabies falls is another gem that is out of this world.
I’m South African and this is why I love rugby and how it brings people together
Tim, you're a legend. God bless you boet and thanks for the all the hard work, entertainment and insights. Safe travels.
Tim ❤❤ you've got us emotional, there. Thank you for showing our country to the world. Go well, good man. Bring your family next time ❤️
Youre a legend.
Safe Travels brother, visit again in summer🙏🙂 Rugby unites all in South Africa 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Thank you, Tim. We're a fun-loving, friendly, and incredibly patriotic bunch. And there is nothing we love more than hearing your endorsements. See you at Ellis Park in August! 🇿🇦🏆🏆🏆🏆🇿🇦
Tim you are a true ambassador for our sport. Thank you. Number 1 number 2 does it matter if we get this high quality of a game to entertain us all. Loved it thank you SA and thank you Ireland
We love you Tim💚💛🇿🇦
Tim, thank you for all the kind words. I'm privileged to call South Africa my home and I'm proud that the hospitality of our people has shone through your videos.
Hearing you speak about South Africa fills me with so much pride. Can't believe I take living here for granted. Hearing you gush really hits home how priviliged we are. Thanks for the visit. Come back soon.
For all the BS and problems we have in South Africa you cannot but feel an immense sense of pride watching this video and knowing what an incredible experience this has been for you.
Best country in the world! I love South Africa 🇿🇦!
Tim you legend. In your head.....in your head South Africa South Africa.......it's in your head and soul. You will never shake the dust of Africa off your shoes. Totsiens, Hamba Khale, go well Bru. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦💪💪💪💪💪
Tim
We're glad you had such a wonderful time in our country. We have our problems, but we also have kind and lovely people, most of whom love rugby with the passion you describe. Thank you for your work, your humility, and your fairness, it's fantastic to see.
You are going to love Cape Town. God bless you.
Wow, Tim. I feel terrible now. We mostly see all the negatives in our beautiful country, but seeing it through your eyes is amazing! We are truly blessed to live here. Thanks for the wonderful review of SA and its people.
Well well Tim ,these three weeks has flown by to quickly, you have made an enormous impact on us ( almost a thousand comments) . What an impact you have made as an Englishman , rugby lover and now Honorary South African on all of us . Be safe , be good , and if not good ,then take pics 😂😂. Hurry back 😊
Tim. This such a breath of welcome air for a country plagued by its own demons. We often forget how this experience feels for 'foreigners'. And like in so many other places, sport is not only the balm but the spark that reminds us of what it feels like to celebrate, be part of a community. And welcome to ours lad.Wild dogs? My favourite wid animal. A team, beautiful and cruel. But utterly mesmerising and adorable. Thank you.
Beautiful comment. ❤
Tim you have made me realised how blessed we are in South-Africa ....
Thank you my brother 🙏🏼 people across the world is watching you and they will now know why saffas are so passionate about their rugby team and rugby as a whole its almost a lifestyle if not already.
A 1000 thank yous TIM....You always welcome in SA🇿🇦❤
Seeing the SA journey from your perspective has been an absolute pleasure. We are glad you enjoyed your time in The Republic. And as you said, you’ve only just be scratched the surface. We look forward to seeing you in August. Cape Town will be a treat, very different what you experienced in Durban and Pretoria. Lastly, thank you for painting our country in a positive light. Go well Egg Shell and safe trip back to the UK
🏴🇿🇦🇮🇪
my man. you are like the Sir David Attenborough of rugby commentating... I thoroughly enjoy your honesty and realness of rugby.
He speaks very well because he is well trained and experienced in media and radio. His job in the UK is with a radio station and he also presents on BT sports and he does public speaking. This TH-cam channel of his is a hobby. Rugby is his passion. He played the game at a semi pro level for 12 years.
Awe thanks for this bit of info!
Warned you that you would have a great time! So pleased that you enjoyed yourself, is was a pleasure having you over here. Hamba kahle!
RSA is a lovely place......I could never leave.....people here all want the same thing! Our Rugby is the best in the world uniting us as Africans we have come full circle......I'm very proud of South Africa. Thanks for making the time to be kind our country needs it!!!!
Cheers!! Thank you for visiting!! Come back soon!!
Wow that's awesome Tim, really happy you had a great time in SA. Surely comeback again and thanks for speaking so well about us. Have a safe trip back home.
We don't often meet someone who has no frills, no bullshit, no bias & talks honest common sense, so, yes, I think you can go to any rugby playing country & get similar results, Tim.
I see you are now on 93.7k subscribers. And it's just you on your own that did that. Well done.
Your channel is so sharp and accurate that i think coaches wait for your team predictions before naming their squads 🤣.
Travel safe. See you in 5 or 6 weeks.
The fact fhat your own team was playing in NZ and you chose to be here instead is amazing and says a lot. Love watching your videos ❤🇿🇦
Tim, you are a legend! Thank you for taking the time to get to know the Bok fan! Sampling the country and how it all comes into play to the biggest thing we all love...rugby. When you are back next month the All Black rivalry and fans will blow everything up even more!
I’m a South African who’s been living in the Uk for 13 years. I’m sitting in Spain on holiday with tears in my eyes having watched that Tim, I’m about to put a double shot of brandy in my glass and top it up with coke and say cheers to you and the Bokke!!
Tim, I told you you're an honourary Saffa now. You know we're an emotional bunch. I'm so glad you're had a good time in our country. You're always welcome! 💚💛
Might I say, such kind words. So many people get such a misconception of this country and I’m glad you were able to see the true beauty of it. You are a world class gentlemen and we are happy to host you no matter when!
Bon voyage Tim. The braais, West Coast lobsters and Stellenbosch wines are waiting for you in Cape Town.
I also got emotional with this video, we deal with so muck kuk in this country we sometimes forget how awesome it is and how lucky we are.. 👍🙏
Thank you for the beautiful and positive comments on South Africa Tim, but also thank you to all the South Africans who showed you the beauty and friendly nature of our country. I absolutely love this.
Thank you. You’re now South African. Don’t forget it. Our people haven’t got much to give, but we are generous souls indeed. 🇿🇦
