I have a question on the FL12 chip. I followed this video to install an EM13 in my N700 Nozomi train. The power car worked perfectly but without any sound (believe that is normal). Then I installed one FL12 in each of the end cars. I turned one of the chips around 180 degrees in the second car. I thought the lights would change colors every time I reversed directions but the red end stayed red and the white end stayed white. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Excellent and very informative video. Which brings up the question, can the FL12 be used with your UP Water Tender set and the optional lighting set sold for the tenders?
The decoder controls the light kit so any light kits you want to be able to turn on and off will need their own decoder. There's no way to wire multiple train cars together to be controlled by a single decoder. On the upside, you don't actually need decoders to use our interior lighting kits on DCC. only if you want to be able to turn them on and off.
thank you. one more question would they all go off or can i turn them on and off one by one given they all had a decoder? sorry i just want to try dcc but wanted to get some info first
If you programmed all of the lighting DCC circuits to different addresses you could turn them off individually, or you could set them to the same address and toggle them all at once. The joy of DCC is the versatility it brings.
Installation is generally easy, but some of the FL12 decoders are flaky. Some only show headlight or nothing, some only taillight or nothing, depending on DCC direction chosen. Many refuse to let their number be reprogrammed from the original default 3.
@@ghewitt94 That's what I did, disconnect the plug from the Kato power pack and snip the plug off the cord to expose the two wires (I didn't want to cut that cord so I could later reconnect the Kato power pack if needed, so I connected the 24-843 Terminal Adapter Cord and snipped its wire terminals off instead). Then just connect those two wires to the sockets on the DCC unit.
okay, so I've received this set a few weeks ago and set it up....one thing really bothered and startled me; the motor car cannot run without its own axles and trucks literally derailing themselves on straight sections of track!!!!!! I tried running the motor car with only four cars, still derailed....tried it with two cars; still derailed, tried the motor car alone itself; still derailed....its either a issue with the weights in the car, or the motor in the motor car is so overpowered that its forcing the trucks and axles to literally derail on a straight track
I've found the problem and fixed it. Supposedly the shipper must have rough handled the shipping box and it disconnected one of the drive shafts to one of the driven trucks of the motor car, I refit the drive shaft into its slot on the motor and the set runs flawlessly! Love this set!
That train is epic, the real thing and the N scale.

hi great video. if i buy the kato decoders i believe the fl11 for the interior lights will each light kit need one or just one for the whole train
?

Thanks for the video! Is there any list of DCC friendly KATO Japanese trains? For example is the KATO E233-1000 a DCC friendly set?
The N700A is DCC ready

Could there be a tech corner video on hooking up a DCC system to the Unitrack?
Alex Derus wouldn’t that just be connect the two wires as you would for dc, but in the dcc case from the dcc system.

Dose that work most high speed Kato trains?
where can you find EM13?
Where can I get that set on the USA kato page or the Japan page
They're sold out in Japan, we still have 2 left right now on our online store
Also www.NewhallStation.com still has one in stock.
if this company produces miniature train from Indonesia surely sell well in Indonesia.
