Had the privilege of shooting a season with a matched pair of Purdey guns years ago. A friend of the family inherited them and allowed me to shoot them before they were sold. Great memories with my father...
What a fantastic episode, great honest, natural chat. Love that the stories were as important as the actual watches. I think that’s probably the case for a lot of people into watches. Great work 👍
Excellent episode. This gentleman’s enthusiasm talking about his watches is what collecting is all about. Appreciate him sharing his stories. Justin, your channel is amazing. I’ve recently discovered it and I’m enjoying catching up. I enjoy the intelligent conversation. The best of the best of TH-cam! Keep doing what you’re doing. 🥂
Justin! That houndstooth plaid jacket is AWESOME. It fits you amazingly. Hacket London? I share the same philosophy on the 10-slot collection box. I find it too “noisy” and distracting when the collection exceeds 10. Something needs to go…I also do not include Swatch, Casio, Seiko, or other meager, independent mechanical watches as part of the collection and they sit in random drawers around the house and aren’t really kept track of….
How to open a bottle of Champage Loosen cage by rotating the tab 6 half turns. ... Hold the bottle at a 45° angle and start to rotate the base of the champagne bottle while holding the cork and cage firmly. ... Apply increasing pressure to hold the cork/cage as you feel the cork start to push out with the bottle pressure.
Dan is clearly a man with good taste. As a lover of watches and fine British shotguns this interview was very much my thing. While I would like the side by side and a Lange I’ll settle for the much more practical side plate o/u and the VC overseas.
As someone with no experience with guns, I was a little shocked when the price was mentioned and now understand what non watch people feel like when they hear prices, but seeing the craftsmanship and quality of them , it makes sense, these are really are made to last generations. The parallel with watchmaking is definitely there, when you think what 100k is in the world of watches it’s clear what level these guys are at.
Shotguns are like watches. You can pay Casio prices and you can pay grand complications money. The difference at the high end is the piece unique element and the massive amount of hand work by people with incredible skill and many many years of training.
I always laugh when people say that it's a catastrophe if you wind a perpetual calendar too far forward. The solution is simple: just let the mainspring wind down, and let it stop until the time catches up!
There needed to be more talk about the beautiful guns on the table. What a treat to see such great craftsmanship. What a storied company Purdey is.
Pretty epic. Love how Dan talks straight, no nonsense. A most enjoyable episode, thanks Justin!
So true. Thanks for the message
Beautiful collection and love Dan’s passion. Justin, thank you for what you do.

He's selling a bespoke product. It's like someone going to Roger Smith for a bespoke watch.
Fantastic video, thank you!
