  • It has been about 10 years since I owned a nitro RC. I think it's time to nitro again. I decided to go with this 1/8th scale nitro buggy called the Hobao Hyper SS. I have always loved 1/8th scale buggies and have never owned a nitro version. You gotta love the sound and smell of a Nitro engine! I hope you enjoy this running video of my new Hobao Nitro RC.

How strong are the rtr chassis that come on these? I bent the crap out of my mp9 tki 4 chassis on a jump that wasn't to bad. Looking for something a little stronger.

I own a Hyper SS and also a Hyper 7 PCR. The Hobao Buggies are fantastic for bashing and beating the piss out of. The MP9 tki 4 is a better driving buggy but not the strongest in stock form. You can always get the mp9 kit version chassis, which is made of 7075 aluminum and much stronger.
If you want to buy a new buggy purely for bashing, look at the Hobao Hyper VS or VS2. Hell, even the SS or Hyper 7 are great.

@@dealspeed6756 thanks for the reply! I actually went to order the kit chassis this week for my mp9 to find out its now discontinued and nobody has one in stock. Major gut punch. Its insane because I also have an mp7.5 and its a 6061 chassis and I've bashed it harder and flown it way higher and havnt bent it yet. I'm super confused on how weak the mp9 rtr chassis is and really unimpressed. Thats why I was looking into the hyper buggies. Even if they bend it seems I can get a chassis from jrc currently for $15! Far cry from the prices of the inferno chassis. Mp9 7075 is 125, rtr is 65-70.
I'm looking into either going with a hyper or just goin with a talion. Parts are cheap for those and I know they hold up for what I'm wanting out of it.

@@bustedaw11 I've owned quite a few Hoabo buggies. The hyper 7 Hyper 8 Hyper SS. 3 different versions of the Hyper 7 from the TQ pro rtr and the kit version PBS and rtr PCR edition. All have been ridiculously strong. You definitely can't go wrong with any of their RTRs

@@dealspeed6756 thanks for the knowledge on them i appreciate it! I'm just a basher but have always loved the 1/8 nitro platforms. Back in the day the 1/8 buggies were the bash kings lol. I'll take stronger over handling if it means I can keep em rippin lol..
I can remember a guy on radiocontrolzone forum having a hyper 7 back when they were knew and being jealous lol. Many many years ago now. He never seemed to break much but we didn't send them nearly as hard back then as we do now in this hobby lol
