    I love you used the excuse of this being "educational". Just to get out and play in the snow and have a little fun. Good stuff

    I like that you did this, thank you. Just picked up a 2012 EX35 AWD. I live in Michigan so.... Did yours not come with a "snow" mode?

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your support, it's still one of my favorite videos to watch.
      Speaking of sedans, back then they didn't offer a snow mode. Then when the snow mode came, it was initially only offered on AWD vehicles. Finally, the 2011 M models came with a mode selector that includes the snow mode, and eco as well as sport.

  • @Whyteeford
    @Whyteeford 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's really very little snow lol. If you where in heavy snow, you'd probably need to turn the VDC off in order to move decently. In an AWD model, VDC is pretty much a must turn off feature in snow or dirt.

    I'm literally debating right now whether or not to buy a Q45 today. I currently have a 2014 GS350 and a 2006 LS430,but the Q45 was just always a luxury car I drooled over when I saw one in traffic. Thanks for your videos!

      The weather hasn't cooperated. The cold has been bitter, but not,much snow. Well, we got some surprise snow this morning. I guarantee if you have decent tires on the M it's gonna do the same thing as the Q

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gsxellence I still have it, but it's gonna be a cold day in hell before it sees snow, hehe.
      In a basic sense the snow mode acts like traction control shown here. Use it when snowy or wet, and it reduces the engine response. The main purpose is to avoid spinning the wheels.

    Ed, my Q45 has nearly 200k and runs phenomenally. My only issue, which seems quite common is the VDC/Slip/ABS light combination. Still runs really well, good gas mileage, etc...
    But, living in Indiana, I feel like its important that I resolve this prior to winter. From what I gather, many times it's caused by the camshaft sensor. Before exploring this as a fix, I wanted to ask you if the absence of TPMS sensors could cause these lights to come on?
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, just as I appreciate your content. 🙏

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indiana? Nice, I moved here recently. The car is a beast in the snow, but of course requires a fully functional stability system.
      That combination of lights is not typical of the TPMS sensors. That usually just pops the horseshoe after about 30 miles of continuous driving.
      In these cars, it *usually* doesn't follow the cam sensor either, but again that sensor fails in like 77 different ways, so I encourage people to just replace it if the history is unclear...or carry a good spare.
      The most likely scenario is a bad alignment. But again, make sure all 4 corners have at least the same tire, your brake fluid level is OK, and very rarely a damaged steering angle sensor/on the clockspring, ABS pump, ABS fuse. You get it, the possibilities are endless, lol. I like to start with the cheap/free diagnoses and fixes.
      If time is of the essence, bite the bullet and pay for a proper diagnosis from a dealership that will tell you exactly which component has failed so you don't waste money on replacing the wrong part.
