For anyone wondering how to use BOTH Overdrive Extreme and Freesync:
    1. Switch to HDMI
    2. Set Mode to User
    3. Set Freesync on
    4. Set OD to Extreme
    5. Switch back to DP
    6. Success

*PSA* You CAN enable *Extreme Overdrive* w/ Freesync.
    Steps:
    1. Turn ON Freesync on the Monitor with G-Sync *disabled* in Nvidia's Control Panel: this will allow you to change Overdrive while Freesync is On.
    2. Switch Overdrive to Extreme on the Monitor.
    3. Finally enable G-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel.
NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE THE OVERDRIVE OPTION GRAYED OUT BUT SET TO *EXTREME* You can tell it's actually working because there's the smallest amount of overshoot and a much crisper image.

I have old 144 mhz Acer monitor and guess what; it won't do more than 60mhz unless you use DVI-D output ( which modern GPU's don't have and adapters even active ones are glitchy ) despite having HDMi input. Acer is always cutting stupid corners it seems.

well I knew nothing about monitors when I bought it year and half ago when my old LCD VGA monitor from 2003 -ish died; I asked few ppl that I trusted at the time what would good monitor be and they proposed 2 monitors; I decided for Acer. They didn't say anything about Acer monitor not supporting 144 mhz on HDMI. What the hell did I know: I checked all specifications on multiple sites about monitor but not a single one would mention anything about this crappiness. Why even bother supporting HDMI when it's not 144 mhz on 144mhz monitor; that's just dumb and misleading. Well either way it is what it is. I was dumb to trust them and not find someone who is actual monitor expert or something; but given that my old monitor was broken I didn't want to take too long to get new one so I ordered it in 2 days of research. ( while being kinda clueless coz I knew nothing about monitors )
But point being that Acer always cuts corners it seems. Like why on Earth would they lock to normal overdrive when Freesync is enabled? thats the stupidest thing ever.

This monitor is great. I got it 2 days ago for roughly 300 dollars (2500 sek) here in Sweden. The override issue is not an issue at least not now that I am aware of. I also had it greyed out saying normal but I just turned off g-sync, enabled extreme with free sync on and then I turned on g-sync and it works. I would 100% recommend this monitor. Also the speakers aren’t that bad at least for my preference since I use them a lot actually.

The Best, i have aoc 24g2, acer vg271p, xb271hu and x34... 24g2 is very nice. No backlight bleed, no biggie glow. Very nice colors and very very similar to vg271p. 24g2 has clunkier menu controls but better stand, however 24g2’s stand do not rotate every direction like you would assume, but it’s not deal breaker for me. Xb271hu seems to have faster response times and clearer motion, but worse backlight glow. 24g2 and vg271p have also better colors and look a little better than xb271hu, if you don’t factor in resolution. One thing you should know 24g2 is very bright, even at brightness 0 it’s still maybe little too bright for easy watching in a dark room for some people. Other than that, no really complains, especially at this price point. Freesync works pefrectly with nvidia graphics. At least i haven’t had problems. Oh, and yeah 24g2 far better monitor speed wise for multiplayer pvp than that x34 but that shouldn’t be surprise as x34 is only 100hz. Overall i’d still pick x34 over any of these, you can’t beat ultrawide unless you solely only pvp multiplay. Hope this helps. EDIT: One last thing, 24g2 stand doesn’t go as low as my acer height adjustable stands. You can’t go as low as hugging the table, 24g2 stands little higher from the table. That could be also because it’s physically smaller as my other monitors. I don’t know but i thought that might be something to mention.

@@Ephas Yes, actually there is slight glowing in the lower right corner. I'm not sure if it's from the backlight or the power indicator light. I'd say it's pretty minor, far from my xb271hu and x34 glowing and bleed problems, especially considering those are far more expensive monitors. But yes i guess it isn't perfect either. Regarding response times, i can't do side by side testing with vg271 anymore since i gave it my son and it's physically in different location. Sadly i also won't be home until monday, but if you like and i remember i can then check if the extreme overdrive works with freesync (nvidia) and maybe freshen my memory about it's motion blur and response times as it's not my main gaming monitor or even second.

Maybe i could test that monitor out again later and give my impressions, but now i'm too hurry to play battlefield with the monitor i have used to play with, xb271hu :)

I don't really think we've got a "trivial oversight" here. Acer might have not allowed access to the extreme mode while using adaptive sync, because the overdrive performance deteriorates to much when dropping to lower refresh rates - a problem many adaptive sync monitors without G-Sync module face. Still they would have needed to provide a faster OD mode for use with AS, though. This way, the monitor basically does not have AS at all (which, in my opinion, is not that big a deal, but I realize I stand pretty much alone with that perspective nowadays :D).

I just received this monitor today. This guy is WRONG! You CAN turn on Over Drive and freesync at the SAME TIME. It is a bit confusing so it's understandable that he couldn't turn it on.
To turn it on, you have to first go to mode, then select user. Then go to menu > gaming then turn off free sync, turn over drive to normal mode, then turn on free sync, then turn free sync off, then turn over drive to extreme mode, then turn on freesync.nFree sync will stay on and nothing will be greyed out. It does work!
To the creator of this video, please make an update. I ALMOST sent this monitor back because of your video. I'm really glad I didn't, it's a really amazing monitor!
Edit: just found out you can't turn it on at 144hz, I had a displayport cord that was only running at 60hz, but after reading, I believe you can turn both on by turning the monitor down to 125hz. I haven't been able to test this though because I just got a new cord today and had to go to work before I could test it.
