Yes, Kevin plays not just the cello, but sax at concert level and keyboard as well. PLUS...he beatboxes while playing the cello. He invented that...celloboxing. Oh..and he sings, composes and helps with arrangements, speaks Mandarin and a couple of other languages and graduated pre-med before he joined PTX. He's kind of a genius, I think. You are certainly not the only one to break down in tears watching this rendition...I've seen grown men shed a few as well. And I've also had wet cheeks a few times when hearing this lovely song.
I'm not cutting onions, you're cutting onions! The emotion that Kirstin puts into her singing just knocks me over every time I hear this song. I love that they had Kevin playing the cello in this - for me, the cello is the string instrument that evokes the most emotion. Overall, this is in my top 5 PTX videos ever.

You should watch the 2016 Popspring concert anyway as it has Pentatonix doing three originals and an Evolution and they are brilliant. But the last song Water is Kirsty's and is beautiful.

This amazing group of people have the ability to take us, their audience exactly where they want us to go. For me, this one is an old combination of strength and sorrow. Kirstie leads it as if it's coming from her very soul. Avi's gentle voice nearly breaks your heart, "I'm saying goodbye". The layering of their vocals was exquisite. To end with Kevin and his sweet voice. This IS an emotional song, performed perfectly. So, an emotional response is to be expected. I will certainly check out any other PTX that you have done. Kevin is a classically trained cellist and saxophonist and he plays the piano/keyboard too. A musical genus! Kirstie really shines as the lead in this one but I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a superlative performance by Scott, Mitch and Avi too in their roles. I love how they’ve grown over the years and some of their best music (including “The prayer”, “Mad World”, and “Shallow” is of a more recent vintage. Kevin played Carnegie Hall on the Cello as a teenager, Created theform of music known as Cello-boxing, Yale med school, Speaks Mandarin and basically pretty sure he stole all my talent at birth LOL, he is a total genius. Kirstie , I always love her emotions.
Kevin is a very talented instrumentalist on cello and saxophone, Avi is a great guitarist and Scott is a strong pianist. They are so talented! Such a beautiful song and a fantastic cover. Thank you for your reaction. Avi's solo work is amazing - please check it out.
I left them when Avi did. In my opinion, he made the group. Avi has a great solo career and toured most of 2022. Several countries in Europe, the U.S. and Canada. He is a great, prolific writer, singer and a strong, tender, compassionate, man.
My thoughts exactly I really tried but I just didn't get the same feel from their music anymore ( and that makes me a little sad because they are so talented ).
