Korriban, ancient birthplace of the Sith, home to the Sith Academy. The spirits of the Dark Lords whisper in the depths of their crumbling tombs, thousands that failed the trials lay dead in its red sands, the scars of the Jedi's assault still visible in the landscape. • @BestFilmproducer
      @BestFilmproducer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I imagine, the way any Sith of the dark side is able to wield such immense power is by committing some sort of cursed self-sacrifice. Suffering is key for them. So, to give an example: If you want to not just move an object with your mind like the Jedi but actually alter it in some way, like destroying it or manipulating it, you would have to summon an incredible experience of pain, meaning that you for instance feel the same amount of pain as being burned by flames, drowning or having your skin cut slowly by light sabers.
This would make the dark side an incredibly exhausting way of life, but the rewards seem far greater than what any Jedi could ever achieve. It's a very extreme way of life, compared to the Jedi.
However, as we have seen in the movies, the Sith way of life is also a very lonely and isolated one, and as we know from our real world, cooperation is needed to succeed in most big endeavors of life. And that may be what the Sith are missing: Cooperation. Or at least: Trustful cooperation.
The dark side of the force has shown so many examples of traitors and backstabbing, which is a natural element of the rage, pain and suffering required to assume 'unlimited' power.
Simply put: On the dark side of the force there are not only no rules, but it is even tempting and advantageous to break the rules for your own personal gain, as long as you are willing to sacrifice yourself to the dark powers, and this always comes with a tradeoff regarding pain and suffering for yourself.

And what if one is like Darth Vader | Anakin Skywalker and has already suffered that immense pain but was saved by another equally wise individual as an Act of Mercy? What would that make the Saved One and the Savior? And what of their relationship after that fact and presentiment? Would the Saved One be wholly indebted to his savior or what if he was given the freedom to chart his own course in life? Would he then be able to Channel and control the immense powers that come with such an experience?

Beautiful sounding, just close your eyes to feel the old and familiar feeling of the attraction of the Dark Side...
It reminds me of a friend who always goes through kotor for the boring Light Side... and when she gets to Korriban she complains about how uncomfortable she is in that place, especially in kotor 2. This always makes me smile involuntarily, as I, as a follower of Darkness, long to set foot on Korriban, breathe its air full and feel that... feeling of coming home again.

Why the hell doesn't Korriban appear in any movie series? It is literally the capital of the dark side.
The idea of a planet completely covered by ruins of what was once a great civilization seems absolutely terrifying to me, imagine that we discover a planet like that in reality: The ruins of gigantic cities with enormous temples, walls and statues. That would certainly be amazing.

I need some kind of darker series with a korriban feature. The sith violence and afterlife presence is so underutilized in this universe because Disney is scared to get too dark/violent in Star Wars content. I think it’s really hurt them.

*Korriban. Once the center of power for several Sith dynasties, the planet has been abandoned for generations. The Valley of the Dark Lords is now the only thing worth seeing on this planet. The tombs of the ancient lords of the Sith still have secrets, even after thousands of years of tomb raiding and excavations. There are whispers, however, that the spirits of the Sith lords still haunt their tombs, punishing any who dare violate their final resting places and do not pass ancient and deadly rites of passage*

As awesome as it would have been to see Korriban/Moraband in the movies, having Creamy Sheev hiding out in such an obvious location would have made even less sense than the thunder planet protected by space cancer.

During WW2, it was common for the Soviets at the battle of Stalingrad, hampered by lack of resources, to give men heading straight to the front alternating rifles and ammo -- first man a rifle; second ammo. The idea was the first guy died, so the second was expected to pick up the rifle and keep shooting. If you ran? Machine guns awaited your retreat, rather than safety. You either killed the enemy and won, or you died. The Motherland would not permit a third option for failure.
Thus with the Sith: you either vanquished all that stood before you, perfectly with your own power -- or your own weakness consumed you. If you have ever wondered why the Jedi, despite their numbers like the stars in the sky, keep being utterly destroyed cyclically by a Dark Lord and his Apprentice -- it is because the Jedi accept the weak and tolerate failure. The only reason the Sith lose, is because nature abhors a power vacuum: in the end, power is shared by no one. When you have killed all that stood in your way, and summited your mountain of corpses, the last obstacle is -- yourself. Thus with your own death, the cycle is reset, and life can begin anew.
There is a reason so many ancient theologies conclude that our current reality was seeded and fertilized by the death of a god; Christianity just took this idea of universal death and rebirth and codified it into a form that was personal for every man (and why it is ultimately the highest articulation of this concept; you cannot go further than dying to self every waking moment of existence. This is what Jesus meant by deny yourself, take up your Cross, and follow me to Golgotha).
Life is sacrifice; life is suffering. Becoming strong will eventually destroy you; being weak only lets you be prey to the strong. True balance is impossible, and yet that very quest therefore is the goal of life: to live morally such that you neither consume, nor become consumed (Buddhism itself is the most clearly articulated theology attempting to do just this; the closest Western example can be found in the deserts of Egypt in the fourth century). Good luck.

It is just disgusting, how bullshit fantasy from "Enemy at the gates" crappy movie become "common knowlage" among people. And the same morons tells something about propaganda, lol.
It was never a common thing among Soviet troops even in the hardest conditions like in Brest fortress or near Kiev in 1942. Even when soldiers lost their rifles, unarmed soldiers usually stayed in reserve, or switched to the crew of AT guns or Maxim MGs. In the case of Stalingrad, soldiers crossed the river ALREADY armed, usually half man with rifles, other half with SMGs like PPSh-41.
Evil NKVD, wich shooting retreating soldiers from MGs is another shitty lie. In reality any such teams will be just destroyed by their own retreating troops (because in the real battle it is very easy to think, that enemy just outmanuvered your troops and attack from behind) or by Germans, because they are never would tolerate any MG, wich shooting in their general direction. Any punishment in the Red Army in the common cause was executed but military unit itself - soldiers formed a line and shoot traitor, not NKVD and out of fight itself.
