@@sifudunng7117 can i use kung fu as self defense?

    • @bluefaygox23
      @bluefaygox23 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Yaturu You can, but it’s partially frowned upon. As martial artists we have greater power in us the average person. We condition, strengthen and weaponize our bodies and minds. To use that in self defense is okay but if you harm your attacker knowing how powerful you are it makes you a coward and you dishonor everything we teach ourselves about discipline and self righteousness. Never use what you have learned just because you can, even if it takes a punch do that before you dishonor yourself. Thats my opinion, though I hope you find this interesting or you learn from it. Stay blessed and may the spirits guide you!

Dragon Style Kung Fu, or Lung Ying, is a Southern Chinese martial art inspired by the movements of a dragon. It combines flowing, powerful techniques with both hard and soft elements. Key features include:
    - Fluid Movements: Smooth transitions and circular motions.
    - Striking Techniques: Dragon Claw, palm strikes, and elbow strikes.
    - Defense: Deflection and redirection of attacks.
    - Footwork: Agile and precise movements.
    - Breathing and Energy: Incorporates Qi Gong for internal strength and controlled breathing.
    Training Routine
    1. Warm-Up: Dynamic stretching and light cardio.
    2. Forms Practice: Pre-arranged sequences of movements.
    3. Technique Drills: Dragon Claw, palm strikes, and deflections.
    4. Sparring: Controlled practice with a partner.
    5. Conditioning: Strength exercises and hand/forearm drills.
    6. Cool-Down: Static stretching and Qi Gong.
Dragon Style Kung Fu focuses on adaptability, balance, and inner strength, making it a comprehensive martial art for physical and mental development.

Which is kinda interesting because most of my formal training is japanese taijutsu and a little karate, though Gyokko Ryu comes from China and the karate style I studied in high school was from white crane when Chinese merchants I'm assuming went to Okinawa.

AT 17:36. First let me say i never studied Dragon, I'm a snake and Mantis style probably due to being 55 yrs old and a certain tv show, i started in 1982. But back to 17:36 in the video i hate that all being to the right side, every single fight i've been in, way to many working security and bouncing at rough central California mexican bars, almost all attackers come from your left, and by the time you're on step two you're hit from the left sometimes a fist sometimes a rebar. In the bar scene of the 90s it was usually an attack retreat thing, and the snake attack i used most to the throat always caused drunks to throw up all the nights alcohol. I love the Dragon stances, easier for an old guy, my horse stance looks nothing like it did 30 yrs ago, kicks gone, maybe shin or knee only.

Please make a sparring video. I really want to compare the dragon style with other martial arts but have no material for that.
