- After The Conservatives lost over 400 seats in the May local elections Labour leader Keir Starmer says Rishi Sunak should call a general election.
However The Conservatives are not acknowledging the election results as a loss - so Carol Vorderman is trying to illustrate exactly what happened in the local election and asking callers if they believe it's time for a general election.

Just like theres a minimum voting age, there should be a maximum one (say 65) and a system like Australia's where its mandatory to vote rather than just disconnect and let the far left and right idealogues determine the future of the country rather than the mass of people who haven't radicalized themselves to destroy the country.

All citizens over the age of 18 are registered to vote and it is compulsory to present yourself at the polling stations at Council elections, State elections and Federal Elections. You give your name and address, it is crossed through and ballot papers are given to you. From this point compulsory voting ends. You can vote or not vote for candidates and simply slip your folded ballot paper or papers into a ballot box. Not voting is called the 'donkey vote' and has no consequences. Having said all this, most people, once at the Polling Stations, do vote. Older people? Important that they vote. It's called 'Grey Power'.
It's not a catastrophe, it's Justice. 14 years of broken promises, rising national debit, higher taxes, underfunded public services etc. etc. voters have had enough.

Anybody who doesn’t want a repeat, will need to act to make it so. That means changing laws, rules and procedures to strengthen checks and balances.
And probably shredding a lot of paperwork
The longer they stay in power and pish the general public off the higher the chance of them ever being elected for a generation.
Its not THEIR snouts in the troughs. Its the wealthy elites and 'lords' pulling the strings (and they'll do the same when Labour gets in) that this disastrous period has been orchestrated and benefited by. Get rid of the ridiculous 'first past the post' election system and you'd go a LONG way to making the system representative of the will of the people, not the shadowy figures currently ensconced as puppet masters.

The answer is that they will give billions to a company with links to Tory MP’s. That company won’t do their job and we’ll still be in the dark and the Tories will go on the media say that they have invested money into the issue and the plan is working. And then go onto blame people on benefits.

It you've supported this lot ever, you're either a billionaire, a future billionaire, or an idiot. You've had 14 years to find out which one of those you are.

A recent poll showed that the 65+ age group are STILL supporting the Tories with a 6 point lead in that group. As a boomer, who has never voted for the Tories, I feel like I should apologise for the way my generation has been responsible for keeping this evil party in power for so long. On a positive note, the boomer generation will get smaller over time and hopefully their demise will also see the Tories lose the boomer working class vote and stop them from ever returning to power.

If Sunak has any respect for the will of the people, he should either resign or even better, call an election. We, as a majority, do not want to tories to continue wrecking our country. On education, my daughter-in-law is trying to set up a new department in a new school, with very small budget for the Summer term. No funding for furniture on the horizon, no materials, nothing. She is in despair - what should have been a dream position is turning into a stress fill disaster that she will have to rescue with her own money.
If she uses her own money she is a fool then.
Only way to get more is to refuse to bail out whatever it is that's failing.

Thing is, this 'poster' doesn't actually state what kind of dept she is trying to set up.
It may be some out of the way sideline diversity dept which may benefit a few but not the majority.
And if that is the case then TBH the money may well be better spent on other depts which benefit more.

Magnificent results, I simply have loved this slide into the abyss that the tories (not worth a capital t) are sliding irrevocably into. How anyone could think that they have even the minutest of chances in the GE, then they are utterly and completely deluded. This could well be the very last time that we see a tory majority government in the country, and that is an excellent thought. PR has to be in place if not during the first Labour term in power this time around, then certainly it should be the bedrock of their manifesto for their second term in office.

Yes of course, there’s been a number of issues with being a member of the eu, and clearly many problems lined up if we remained a member state of the eu, especially with the political path the eu is taking.
On the other hand, leaving the eu has also positive outcomes for the U.K. and its citizens.
Again it depends on priorities, some people complain about Brexit because freedom of movement in the eu is not as easy as before. I have a different view, eu freedom of movement is a godsend for the ill intentioned.
