It is a bit sad. I mean yeah, Portillo lost and it was probably a bit embarassing for a bit. But just walking away now (as some are) just looks pathetic. Also it is like leaving the football early when your teams losing, it makes those who are left look bad.

The number of Tories lacking conviction of their beliefs is shocking. One might almost think they're just in it for the money!
After 14 years of Conservative government they have increased the national debt by 1.4 trillion have plus they have their highest tax burden in 70 years and distributed wealths to the very top earners in this country. This is the reason why this country is in such a state.
The debt now is wait for it... . 3 and a half TRILLION and still rising!!!
It needs a huge defeat for clouds of delusion to lift from these self indulgent tories.

Sadly I don't think it will. They'll blame the groups of people who they most despise. The disabled will probably get the most blame because quite frankly they'd send us to the gas chambers if they could.

He uses Kinnock but it’s a poor example. The Tory vote hasn’t been as split as they have been, polls for the key topics and issues haven’t been as wide, and 14 years is a long time for a government and fatigue is clearly obvious.

When they didn’t get that one right what followed was going to be a total disaster.
The Tory downfall began in the 1970's with Margaret Thatcher. She abondoned conservative thinking and embraced neoliberalism. The banks were set free of any codes of practice (hence the crash in 2007/2008). Privatisation ran riot with no controls ( causing the rivers and sea to be polluted with raw sewage for example ). The party never tried to take control again so failure was inevitable. Remeber Thatchers words, "There is no such thing as community just individuals"
There's a general behaviour around the world named " cognitive dissonance " , and I sincerely believe all MPs who stand down are affected with this problem ...
