It's only day 3, and he's already got drenched in the rain, was heckled by a D:Ream song on loudspeakers, got a couple of Tory councillor plants to ask 'impromptu' questions at a campaign event, visited the Titanic site... Whoever is managing his campaign is doing wonders for the opposition.

Sunak doesn't need to win. He's done what he needs for he and his wife's personal financial greed.
120 mill not bad
It does feel like Sunak has given up. That election announcement sounded more like a resignation speech.
Would be delusional to think anything else I think. Seen the polls?
@@robertsandiford6223with a 3rd world war on the doorstep, you think he wants to be the pm ?
It seems to me more like he's given up on his party specifically. Usually with the Tories, their leader resigns, they elect a successor and then call an election. It's a tactic that tends to work well for them, fooling disillusioned Tory voters into thinking things can only get better.
Sunak's problem with doing this is he's the best the Tories have got at the moment by some considerable margin and there's no sign of that changing in the foreseeable future. It's easy to see why he must be thinking, "Why bother?"
@anony He's behaving like it's the last day of term...before the school holidays..
Apparently he’s off to Silicon Valley. My guess is he’s setting up a hub for his wife’s company?

Well the UK is a sickman of Europe
@brian Saw what you did there. So you do have a sense of humour. Let's see more of it.
Sunak is NOT very relatable to everyday people, no matter how hard he tries. Like asking a Homeless Man waiting for a meal at a Homeless Shelter, ''So what Business are you in?''
Neither is Starmer though. He's probably even less relatable.
Quite difficult for any MP to be able to relate to anyone not middle class or above. They simply don’t have the life experience.

With two wars , and 3rd world war possibly if things does not go right.
Who wants to be the pm at this stage ?
Sunak would feel a sense of releif if he loses
Sunak is finished and so is the torys lol.
I disagree, I think he'd rather lose an election than suffer the same indignity that May, Johnson and Truss suffered by getting kicked out of the job by their own party.
Remember too they've called the election on Scottish school holidays when lthousands will be away on holidays!! Get ur postal votes organised everyone in Scotland.

It's exceptionally easy to look competent when your boss is Boris Johnson
Soggy Sunak is supposed to be clever - he isn't - I met him when he was short selling RBOS stock while Brown was trying to save the banking system. Since then I've monitored his finances and it's frightening how much he's stealing. He's getting ready to leg it.
He might have a financial brain (at least when it comes to feathering his own nest) but he appears to have zero political or emotional intelligence.
The trading game by gary stevenson highlights this. The right school gets you far
Brown was supposed to be clever - I watched him as he sold Gold at really low prices as he was busy shovelling money to bankers.
Exactly what I've just commented, you're spot on in my opinion
Brown didn't save it; he just used our money to save the greedy banks.
The sight of Sunak pretending not to notice how drenched he was is emblematic of his time as leader.

Tomorrow he'll visit a beach and point to the raw sewage being pumped out into the sea.
Standing there whilst trying to ignore the fact that he was getting soaked was so emblematic of the way he ran the country too, it was surreal.
He doesn't care about Wales therefore he doesn't know what is going on there!!!!!!
The same with Starmer, Ed Davey and Tice. All they care about is whether Wales is still in the union or not. Their interest ends there.
Maybe they were putting more letters of no confidence in against him so he decided to call it.
Thank goodness Rishi wore a lifejacket on today's visit to the Titanic Quarter. But why wasn't he wearing it on Wednesday afternoon?

Mr O'Brien, this country went the wrong way in 1979. Since then we have had very bad governance by both Parties. The future prospect for this country is very scary! Sadly, there's no one around today to rescue it!
We must never directly criticise the torys
Totally agree. Plus, Starmer lauded his role model of the Welsh Government, although they have performed on most indices worse than in Scotland and England, and that's going some.

@@chatham43 Yes, it's been well documented and raised in Parliament to the speaker.
Why what’s happened iv not heard about this?
pythons would have been proud of this sketch
My contention is that he was one (or both) of two archetypes at school; he was bullied and/or was a hanger-on in a bully's gang; the one in the back who goes along with things because he's in the cool gang / not getting bullied by the ringleader. Not very far below the surface is a very insecure little boy, and he's found himself outside of the headmaster's office, in the clear after the ringleader - Johnson in this case - has been expelled. Suddenly he's the leader of the gang, and he doesn't have the character, confidence or charisma to be that guy. Winchester let him down badly, as I suspect all these schools do with the wannabe future Leaders Of The Free World who didn't have all their humanity shamed, beaten or buggered out of them, and who, as a result, aren't cut out for it.
I think exactly the same, his political career has been motivated by the desire to fit in. Because deep down he knows that in certain circles it doesn't matter how rich or intelligent or succesfull you are, his skin condition has prevented him to be accepted in the top tier
I always thought his political views, including brexit, were just a front, a persona he put forward to blend with the crowd he wanted to belong to
If Wales and Scotland left the union could we join the EU again? Given both countries history of being oppressed by the English it would be somewhat fitting if we joined a union that would bring stability to our countries while the English government squabbled amongst themselves so much that their country becomes a shambles and suddenly English people start adopting Celtic accents and jumping the border
Last time I checked we were still part of a democracy? Unless your suggesting that Wales and Scotland become a totalitarian? Because not everyone voted to stay in the EU.....

I know it's an unpopular opinion around here, and I don't doubt that some of the initial internal antagonism towards Sunak's leadership ambitions may have been attributable to Tory racism, but in some ways I find Sunak worse than Johnson and Truss. Not as disastrous, perhaps, but at least those two seem to believe in something beyond lining their own pockets (admittedly in Boris' case, it is his own cult, and in Truss's case, batshit crazy right-wing economics, but at least they had some degree of conviction).

Country leader A reaches an agreement to split over 2 million dollars with leader B of another country. All B has to do is agree to do a legal act which will never actually be required. Leader A proposes an illegal act on which the other country's action depends and advances 2 million dollars to Leader B for his part.
Leader Å has no intention of carrying out the act whether legal or illegal and calls an election when it is most likely he will lose.
Leader A knows new Leader C will never approve the action so Leader B has received 2 million dollars for nothing. He Splits this with leader A.
How would such a scenario be prevented?
