I took your TH-cam vid as an example and installed the same unit in my black lexus rc 2016. Thanks for the inspiration. Would never have done this by myself otherwise. It works as a treat. Just have 2 small questions/remarks. Wondering you had those issues? 🤔Is the android auto Google assistant also so quit / low volume (can't adjust the volume). When pressing the phone button on the steering wheel it opens the android dialer from the new screen os and not my favourites from the android carplay dialup to phone? Not very user friendly. Thx.
Glad you found the video helpful! I don't really use the Google assistant feature so I don't have that issue. I have noticed that phone calls work a lot better from the OEM Lexus Bluetooth and car play works great for maps/Spotify etc
I just installed this in my RCF over the weekend but my reverse camera isn’t working, triple checked all my connections and the back car setting as well. Also noticed phone buttons and speech buttons don’t work on the oem Lexus interface. Waiting on a response from nunoo on aliexpress, do you have any sort of issues using the oem interface, all your steering wheel buttons still work with it?
Wow sorry to hear about that. I never had any issues and back up camera worked with no issues. I haven't really used other steering wheel buttons except the volume and that works with no issues
Though i think it may actually be a non issue. My car is parked in my garage and when I installed everything, I didn’t actually have the car running while i tested the reverse camera since my car has been stored for the winter months . Do you know if the car has to be running for the reverse camera to work with this unit? If you were to just turn the car on (start button twice without foot on the brake) and put the car in reverse does your camera work? If this is the case then that’s the problem, everything works fine otherwise so I’m hoping that’s the problem. Appreciate your response btw, also how are your shocks holding up with the swift lowering springs? I have these going on with 20/15mm spacers when it gets warmer.
@Paul-it8zl Thats a good point. You might have to have the car on before the reverse cam shows up. The swift lowering springs are great! Love the stance of the car lowered and the spacers. Ride quality is like oem
Looking forward to the review of the unit. Can you test if the unit stays connected to android auto or does it randomly disconnect? Also if it has any random restarting issues.. i've had my eye on this unit for a while but need more info. Thanks man.
I've had it in the car now for about 3 months. I daily drive my RCF so the headunit is connected to my phone every day. No issues with disconnecting or restarting randomly
I had the same problem in my IS250 SAVE YOUR MONEY AND CHANGE THE BATTERY FIRST. It saved me from buying a new amplifier for like $1,700 from the Lexus dealer! Haha
Do you have any knowledge about why this unit must use aux for audio? I'm just curious because I've looked at other android units, usually running an older OS and they don't require the aux to receive audio. Thanks!
I tried it without connecting the aux cable and there was no audio. Only way I could get audio to work with this headunit was to connect aux. It is also the first time I've experienced this as well and have no knowledge on why. I have done headunit installs on other cars but never had to connect to aux
This was the one I got. Make sure to select or Lexus RC (2013 - 2019) I got the one with 8gb ram and 128gb rom. www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006030299323.html
@@TheJMedia Hey man can you control android auto from the touch pad? its a bit hard to lean forward so much with how far forward the screen is. how does it work? with a cursor?
Where did you put the wifi and gps units? Does the gps unit have to be exposed to the sky like a Sirius/XM antenna or can it be tucked away? Also, where did you put the USB cables? I just ordered this same kit.

Wow. I need this for my RC too. Aliexpress I'm checking it
It's a great upgrade!
Thanks you the video! I’ll be following this once mine arrives, how is it holding up?
No problem! Glad you found the video helpful. It's been a few weeks now and it's still doing great! Loving the upgrade
Steering controls works??
Yes all steering wheel controls work!

I have a question, my oem amplifier no good anymore…can i use this headunit ( aftermarket) with an aftermarket amplifier?
I don't see why not! I currently still have the OEM amps but it should work the same with an aftermarket amp
@@TheJMedia the oem radio does not work with aftermarket amplifiers, only the oem amplifier ( expensive) thats why i asked …thx for the reply
Oh I see. Didn't know that! Thanks for sharing
I had the same problem in my IS250 SAVE YOUR MONEY AND CHANGE THE BATTERY FIRST. It saved me from buying a new amplifier for like $1,700 from the Lexus dealer! Haha
With the audio being routed via 1 Aux cable, aren't you limited to a simple stereo output vs multi-channel from the built-in ML audio setup.
That's a good point. I'm not sure but I couldn't really hear a difference in audio quality.
Is there a way to do this and retain multi channel?
I am not sure unfortunately

Is that oem screen from a newer IS or aftermarket screen? Trying to do a similar upgrade to my RCF. Thanks.
This is an aftermarket screen that I got from AliExpress. Works great and keeps the OEM functions too
@@TheJMedia thanks for the reply, do you have a link by chance?

Can you show how the touchpad works with the android system and carplay?
It works the same as OEM. I personally have been using the touchscreen more because it is quicker than the track pad
@@TheJMedia Hey man can you control android auto from the touch pad? its a bit hard to lean forward so much with how far forward the screen is.
how does it work? with a cursor?
Yes it works with the touch pad as well or touchscreen
Have you tested the mic supplied in the package on calls with the window down? Does it have noise cancelling?
That's a great question. I have not texted phone calls with windows down yet

I had the wifi and gps units just tucked behind the screen. I had the USB cables just tucked away on the passenger side near the glove box
Nice! Do you have a link to the head unit? Definitely want to upgrade my screen

So this works with iphone?
Yes it works with both apple car play and android auto
Does the unit (not in android auto mode) allow you to install youtube and netflixs?
Great question! I haven't messed with downloading apps but I think it can be done
