I found your Chanel by accident about 2 months ago and today I bought my first pair of walking boots, you’ve inspired me to get outside. Great video mate
Brilliant footage, brings back memories from when I did it nearly 30 years ago. We went the opposite way up, started at the hidden valley up onto the ridge then over to Bidean Nam Biam. Thanks for the memories 👍🏻
Awesome mountain fantastic views I did your route in reverse few years back it was hard getting onto the top of the col above the hidden valley very steep snow slope but managed it what a memorable day your footage is fantastic and brought back some good memories cheers
I did that route as well, didn't make it up to the second Munro, got to the bealach and down, as you say very steep decent into the hidden valley. There was snow when I did it mid summer and crawled under some of it to get down onto the path. Fantastic day out 😎 Good luck 🍀
Fantastic video James. You have managed to capture these hills in all their glory. Drone footage was spectacular. Bidean was one of my first munros and have climbed them both again a couple of times. Certainly favourites of mine.
*_Hello Scottish Munro... apart from I like your adventure style, at least you have also presented a natural panorama with very beautiful views of the hills and valleys, I'm waiting for the next adventure and I support you... Greetings to meet me, Rudy Tutorial Outdoors from Indonesia_* 👣⛰🏔🏕💯👌👍👏🤝🙏
One of your best videos yet James! Absolutely fantastic. The drone footage in particular was exceptional on this video (aided by some superb lighting in those conditions).
Spectacular video. Regaring the Munro classification, if a peak is high enough and isolated enough to deserve its own name, then I think it deserves to be a Munro in its own right! 😄
What great views you got and beuatifully caught on camera. And you picked a day with some good weather. I'm currently staying in Glencoe and was hoping to tick my first Munros last Tuesday. Unfortunately I wasn't well enough for climbing the wee Buachaille as planned, but walked to the Blackwater reservoir instead. But I've climbed two Fionas, Meall Mor next to the campsite and Pap of Glencoe across from here. And I did one Corbett Beinn a' Chrulaiste. With the weather forecast I,m not sure my first Munro will be in Glencoe.
What beautiful filming. Any hills would be great in this sort of light but as you say Bidean does have something special about it. Your video in the lost valley makes me realise that it must be over 20 years since I was last in it. My first visit in the 1970s blew me away. Back then the whole valley floor was a beautiful meadow in that awesome amphitheatre. I camped there a few years later. Then sometime in the 80s there was a catastrophic flood transforming the meadow into a bouldery flat. I visited several times after that, always a little saddened. It is now looking closer to when I originally went, certainly plenty of comfortable camping spots.
Takes me back to 2009 when I tried to summit Bidean up through the hidden valley but I kept sliding down on the bealach ascent, possibly being 20st didn't help. But a fit 20st I did do the Ben 2 days before. Great video mate. Always makes my neck tingle seeing the mighty Glen. It's a long way from Falmouth but will be up again this year for some more action. ❤
Absolutely breathtaking! 👍 My mom wants me to spread her ashes ( and my deceased sisters ) up there when she goes. What a stunning place to be forever! ❤ Beautiful.
Bidean is definitely a grand Glencoe day out James with brilliant 360 degree views. Another great video, really enjoyed your excellent drone footage too. ATB Derek
50 years since I was up to Bidean Nam Bian. A lovely day, a good hike up, and then down came the clouds, very quickly. So got a bit lost, came down - I suppose down to Hidden Valley. What with the rocks, the grass and moss and the fog it was something out of Ghormengast.. Just wonderful. (I think it was that week I walked the Aonach Eagach as well; no fog that day, it was scorching hot)
Hi James, thanks so much for these videos - I'm not a massive hill walker, but found your channel a few months ago and I have watched a good percentage of your videos. Your positive attitude is infectious and the music and drone shots make your videos very peaceful to watch. I visited the area in this video a couple of years ago but was too daunted to attempt Bidean so opted to do the smaller Pap of Glencoe instead, which still gave incredible views despite it's relatively small size! I've done a couple of other decent UK mountains like Snowdon and Hellvellyn but no munros yet, your videos have definintely inspired me to give some of them a go in the future! I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind, I'd really appreciate if you'd take the time to answer some of them: - What drone do you use, and how does it perform in windy conditions? - Do you find that the walking poles make much difference? - What are your thoughts on safety whilst solo hiking? How safe is it, best precautions to take to stay safe etc. - If you had a to pick your favourite intermediate difficulty munro, what would you choose? Thanks again, keep up the great work, excited to see you complete the 282 soon!
Thank you & glad you have been enjoying the videos 😁 Im using the DJI Air2s drone, a lot of people are going for the Mini 3 or 4 but they struggle with the wind, the Air2s is surprisingly good in the wind! Walking poles are a game changer for me, fantastic for going up/down hill 😁 Solo walking is safe as long as you take the precautions, let family know your exact route, don’t ever take risk - always be prepared to turn back.. plus always pick a good weather forecast, that makes a huge difference! I would say the best intermediate hikes are probably in Glen Shiel, long ridges but no real difficulty in good conditions, the Brothers Ridge is a fantastic walk! Hope that helps, Cheers, James
Another great video, the Hidden/Lost Valley is somewhere I've always wanted to visit. I've been following your journey for around a year and have really enjoyed it. We're from Lancashire so the Munros are not something we get to do very often, but when we do we love them and your channel has inspired us to spend more time up in Scotland. It's also inspired me to have a go at TH-cam myself, I'm sure I'll never get anywhere near your levels of talent but I've just published my first video and hope it will be the first of many. So thanks for the inspiration, I'm sure I'll continue to enjoy your journey as you get ever closer to completing!
Nice coverage of your outing on these tops. It's a huge day out. I've done it a few times, and on one occasion, my decision-making was challenged while I was guiding on it (but all good). Great video and lovely commentary.
Fantastic video James, we're just back from Glencoe and did the hidden valley while we were there, it had rains on previous days and made our scramble to the hidden valley all the more spectacular with the wet rocks and amazing waterfalls. Every time I'm at Glencoe i always feel that it has a soul and its watching after us. You keep safe mate. 👍😎
Brilliant video. I did Bidean 30 yrs ago in less hospitable conditions in November and there was mist on the summit ridge. After watching your video I want to do it again.
Fantastic video, great drone footage particularly of the Hidden valley .. Did this exact route in the summer 26° really took it out of me 🥵 So glad i did, such a special day out in the mountains 🙌🙌🙌
Hi James, wow, what a brilliant day in the mountains. Just stunning views from the tops, and what a perfect day you had weather wise. Thanks so much for sharing your days adventure with us. I really do need to get back up to Glencoe. All the best Dave
Some of the best drone footage ive seen of the Glencoe area. Every time ive been its that windy you can barely stand up never mind fly a drone haha. Cheers
Amazing Video James! The drone shots were gorgeous. I love Bidean as it's crazy beautiful rugged scenery but with no real exposure. I think I asked you this before and you recommended Buachaille Etive Mor as something similar to Bidean, but wondered if you had rated any other mountains 10/10 with little to no exposure. Visiting Scotland next summer and need a few new hills to climb.
Thank you! Thats a good point, it is probably the first 10/10 with no real exposure, a few of the Skye Munros have similar exposure, such as Sgùrr na Banachdich via the Walkhighlands route 😁 Enjoy! Cheers, James
Brilliant mate, we've been following you a while on Insta but had no idea you had a TH-cam channel until it showed in recommended. We enjoyed this video, look forward to watching the rest.
what a place, you made it all look easy though, i spent most of my summer in glencoe, i'm not fit enough to make it to the tops but i got some nice footage with my fpv drone from the lochans below stob coire and on another visit i flew inside the gorge at the top of the hidden valley. stunning place, and when i was checking google earth i realised it had updated the day i was there and my little tent was visible just at the start of stob coire tucked in beneath the cliffs, i dont know why that tickles me so much but it really does.
Don't have the Munro numbers that you have, but this route is my favourite. Unfortunately didn't have the views that you had on SCNL and BNB as both summits were in the clag, but it was much better on SCS. However the initial summit clag didn't spoil the complete enjoyment of the day. Loved it😁!
What an amazing place, just breathtaking, another wonderful inspiring video. Excuse this English man's ignorance but what is the music you use on your videos I just love it 🙏🙏
Certainly deserves its 10/10. You could have gave it another point if you went out to the fourth top Stob coire nam Beith. Perfect excuse for a return trip James.
Great vid, love your drone footage 👍 GlenCoe is an amazing place , plenty of routes to chose from. I was wondering what you were going to rate it, I would have been disappointed if you rated it under 9 😂
Fantastic video, would this be any more difficult than Buachaille etive mor or Blà Bheinn on skye? Which I've lead my walking group on these routes before.
Hello, I was just wondering do you bring some sought of water filter with you on these journeys? If so do I need to get one that also filters out viruses aswel as bacteria, because I’m planning a journey up the Cairngorms, thank you and brilliant video aswell 👍🏻
"Beans on toast". Let's start creating friendly names for those mountains :) Every time someone asks me which Munros I climbed, I just whip out my phone and show them munromap :) I can barely remember the names, or pronounce them correctly :)
I found your Chanel by accident about 2 months ago and today I bought my first pair of walking boots, you’ve inspired me to get outside. Great video mate
James, you are the best weather forecaster I know! Absolutely Amazing, both effort and photography!
Brilliant footage, brings back memories from when I did it nearly 30 years ago. We went the opposite way up, started at the hidden valley up onto the ridge then over to Bidean Nam Biam. Thanks for the memories 👍🏻

What a fine hill. Brings back memories, of several failures and finally success. Such great footage, especially the drone. thank you James.
You got a great day for it! I just hit #221 on my Munro round too. All the best.
One of my favourite places on earth so spiritual being there, thanks for sharing james

Scotlands scenery is unmatched

Wow, you were lost for words. So was I. Thanks for the video, superb 😀
That's a fabulous hike James. The views are amazing!

Nice one James and perfect timing as we are staying in Glencoe next week. Amazing as always, cheers Neil and Rachel
Hope you enjoy your trip and get some decent weather!
Woah!!. That was an absolutely stunning video. Am dying to do that one too. But think I'll wait till next summer.
Worth waiting for the right conditions 😁🏔

Fantastic production and trip. Question, who is the band or singer?
Thank you, it is Beluga Lagoon 😁
Did you descend the bealach forward or backwards?. Cheers for the top quality footage.
As in facing inwards/outwards? 😂 I crawled down parts 😂
Gotta love the tx4 mids what a boot
My favourite, would wear them year round if I could!
Cracking vid, I’ve put this climb on my must do list . I was just wondering how long the full walk took you ?
222 :) and you still have bidean to look forward to :) .... well managed James :). You are so nearly there to the magic number 🎉 so close. M ☘️
Did Bidean before the second peak was elevated to Munro status and never got back there to climb it.
Well you definitely got the best view anyway 😁🏔
Enjoying yer videos here in Canada, will ye give us the name of the song and artist. Cheers. 🏴
Fantastic video, would this be any more difficult than Buachaille etive mor or Blà Bheinn on skye? Which I've lead my walking group on these routes before.
Similar difficulty to Bla Bheinn, just a bit of a longer day. Obviously a lot easier in good conditions.
